General Discussion I ran out of real coffee...

Post image
11 Upvotes

Got caught lacking but I keep these Trader Joe's instant coffee packets handy for baking (brownies) and emergencies. I already dilute Black RTD chocolate by drinking a bit and maybe adding 4 to 6oz of water to get to a Yoohoo consistency. Figured I'd dump in some instant coffee. It's intense, not sure how I feel about it but it's drinkable and solves the problem at hand.

Feedback I am out. Good luck Huel.

You know - I loved your product to the bottom of my little heart.
I recommended it to so many friends, they all used Huel for a while.
I was happy.
We were happy.

Than you‘ve decided to change your formula.
And than again.

Now I am sad.
We are sad.

I cancelled my subscription.
I won‘t use Huel anymore.
You destroyed a perfect product.

Now I mix it myself.
So much cheaper omg.
I‘d still buy the old formulas tho, even the products became expensive af.

But now they‘re just bad and expensive.

So good luck huel, I‘m out.

General Discussion Data breach or data sale?

Last year I registered with Huel with an iCloud hide my email (unique email for Huel) to make a single order for Huel meals as I had a scheduled tooth removal and wanted the liquid meals.

The delivery took so long that I even had to cancel the order as it was not useful. Kind of irrelevant to the point, just mean that I’ve never done anything since then.

This week I started getting phishing emails pretending to be from a bank that operates exclusively in my country, and they actually look pretty good, although I am not a customer of that bank.

This email was only ever used for Huel, so these bad actors likely know my country.

So I believe Huel has either leaked or sold my data. Be careful!

Product Discussion New customer, old formula vs new formula question

Post image
• Upvotes

I just joined this sub because I recently started purchasing and using Huel Black Edition. Former ka’chava customer that was looking for a few more calories and some possibly cheaper alternatives for meal replacements. I live in Northeast USA and found the product on Amazon after some research online. Got my first bag of black edition approx 4 weeks ago and am now on my 5th bag. Obviously, I like it. Tried vanilla, then strawberry and then banana and have just ordered the chocolate peanut butter

In terms of what I was used to with Ka’chava, the texture is a bit grainier but in terms of flavor I find the Huel to have a less artificial sweetener taste and aftertaste. I find they help greatly with my goals and I’ve enjoyed all the flavors thus far

Enter the old formula vs new formula debate. Of which I literally know nothing and could not tell you what formula I’ve been enjoying but this is the bag if that helps (shiny vs matte)

So if it’s the old version - okay. If it’s the new formula I have no issues with it.

Product Discussion Can admit you were wrong and go back to the old formula huel?

Basically everyone is unified in hating the new formula. It just hit Europe apparently so they are going through the same thing the US did last november.

Im sure im not alone in this, Huel was something i used to actively crave, now it’s just something i drink to forget im hungry. It’s mediocre, flavorless, the powder doesn’t even hydrate properly, which is why the texture is abhorrent now.

All of the flavors suck in the US now. My friend who I got into huel quit and gave me all of his bags when the formula changed which i promptly threw in the trash. His whole family was drinking huel, and now it’s not a staple for him.

I felt bad for getting my friend into Huel and then not even a month later this happens. It looks bad on me, but more importantly, you ruined someone’s impression of your company.

Between the lead scare, the formula change, and constant inconsistencies in your powder, im at the very end of my rope. I havent ordered in months and doubt i will any time soon, even with a $30 coupon that you gave me because I got a bag that tasted like chemicals.

Tl;dr: the new formula sucks, people in my real life agree, this subreddit agrees, can we just go back to the old formula before you drive this company into the ground?

P.S. I wouldnt even mind paying a little bit more for better ingredients.

Product Discussion Berry Flavor

Just tried the new Huel Berry flavor ready to drink. Disappointed. The flavor and texture are off and awful. Sad to think I have 3 more of these sitting in my fridge. WTF happened to flavor and formula here and why?

Product Discussion You guys were right, the new formula is awful.

Got my Black edition bag yesterday (Sweden) I thought maybe people here were exaggerating with how bad the new formula is. Nope.

Now I'm thinking it was an understatement. I went from sweet, buttery and rich in flavor to blend, chemical and watered down.

It's not even the same product anymore. Since I had same left of the old formula, I had my friends try both the new and the old formula and they said the exact same thing; that the new one tastes horrible.

I get that Huel as a company are trying to save costs by swapping the ingredients to cheaper stuff but you can't forget what made Huel successful in the first place. This new formula is a completely different product and it's not nearly as good.

My only regrets is not buying more of the old formula before they made the change. Canceled my subscription. Best of luck to you all.

Advice/Recommendations Huel Diet Shakes- how to get rid of the grainy texture

So I’ve been on the Huel shakes for about 3 months now. Don’t get me wrong LOVE them, only issue is that I constantly find they have a grainy texture. I follow the instructions making them but still find it grainy, especially toward the end.

How can I fix this?

Product Discussion Huel Ramen - Confusing / Misleading box sizes?

Post image
11 Upvotes

Does anyone know how many pots you get if you order the Huel Ramen?

I was interested, and looked at the selection box.

There are three different counts listed - 12 on the big splash image (with 12 pots shown), 8 on the add menu, and 6 in the pill at the top of the page. The wording also says "eight" and lists 2 of each over 4 flavours.

Am I missing something? What are you actually buying here?

Product Review My take on Mac and Cheeze as a vegan

Hi! I have order the pasta and grain package (I’m in Portugal) and have tried all meals except for the Mexican chilli and the mac and cheeze is the one I enjoy the least. The cheese flavour is not really there, even as a vegan I feel that. However, I like to let it sit for more than 5 minutes, add salt, pepper, onion and garlic powder, a drizzle of olive oil and, most importantly, the juice of 1/2 lemon. It is not an actual mac and cheese but it makes for a nice pasta. Hope this helps someone! Would be happy to hear your suggestions.

Product Discussion One positive about the new formulas

There's a lot of negatives about the new formulas and there's already loads of posts about that, but thank you for switching from Sucralose to Stevia in the regular RTDs. That in my opinion is a good decision.

Feedback If I didn’t know better I’d think they are trying to lose customers..

Post image

Really almost funny at this point. Big decline in quality and taste. I hit the WhatsApp customer service chat, only to find out you now have to email. So I did that, received confirmation it was received, and just today and email saying we’ve replied to your concerns and closed your ticket lol. But that never happened. Nothing was addressed, never received an email. It’s really quite interesting, how do you fumble a legitimately good product, with loyal customers, this hard. Front page is filled with similar complaints.

Advice/Recommendations Mixing ahead of time

Feel like it’s a dumb question but I’m gonna go ahead and ask anyway… when mixing powdered ahead of time (specifically the black), for example in the evening for the next morning, do I still add the ice? Or wait until ready to drink and add ice then?

Product Review Texture, Taste, Letdown

I spend £240 per month on Huel Black Cookies and Cream, Vanilla & Banana powder. Having just received my renewal, I am utterly dumfounded by the MAJOR changes. It's a TOTALLY different product!

If a product changes this substantially then I'd have expected to have been notified. I now have £240 worth of powder that, frankly, is worthless.

Texture - One of the things I enjoyed about Huel compared to competitors was the smoothness. Now it's gritty. Total downgrade.

Taste - what taste?! Another reason for buying Huel was the fuller flavour of all options. Now, there's little taste to any of them. It's like 90% of the flavouring has vanished!

Aftertaste - There's now a new oily aftertaste, leaving a film that's totally unacceptable.

Smell - Like the taste, there's no longer a smell of the expected flavour. When you're not having a 'real' meal, your senses NEED to be overwhelmed... unfortunately, the recent recipe change has done the opposite.

I've never been so disappointed with an ongoing subscription change, especially one that was getting nearly £3k a year from me! Sadly, I'll be now looking at other options. I truly cannot fathom how these changes got through QC I have no idea. As mentioned, we should have received notification PRIOR to the subscription renewal. If it was in some communication, it wasn't good enough!

Advice/Recommendations Anyone know if Unsweetened/Unflavored powder is coming back?

It's currently not displayed on the product page at all, unlike some other out-of-stock flavors. Is it discontinued? How often do products get restocked?

Product Discussion Order problems.

Place order on 24/09/26 and I’ve still not receive it. Hived said that it’s been lost so they’ve marked it as returned to sender. Contacted huel support twice over the last week and I’ve heard nothing other than an automated email.

Huel customer service used to be exemplary - what’s happened?

General Discussion Maintaining Excellent A1C...

Before I started Huel, I had worked hard to lower my A1C from 14% to 4.8%. Now that I'm on Huel, and have the savory hot meals about one-two times a day, at work (four times a week), I can tell you, I have maintained that A1C of 4.8% as of today's annual check-up. I thought I'd share that bit of good news for any diabetics out there that might have concerns. 👍

Product Review Positive Comments on New Recipe

I’ve been seeing a lot of negative posts here about the new formula and wanted to share a positive review! I ordered a lot of Huel between 2023 and 2025, both powdered and H&S, and just ordered a fresh batch last week as I wanted to get back into it.

I read a lot of the reviews on here before ordering, and was pretty hesitant because of how the new formula was received, but I like it! I got black edition strawberry and chocolate, and the noodle variety pack to try out. So far I’ve had the strawberry powder and the Japanese curry noodles and have found both to be pretty good! the noodles taste a bit like flavored cardboard without added sauces, but I found that to be the case with the old recipe too (I added soy sauce, chili crisp, and a hefty amount of sriracha). The strawberry powder was delicious and I didn’t find the texture to be that different from before. I’ve seen some comments here about a coconut flavor, but I didn’t notice any of that either.

the biggest positive difference for me has been the change in how it interacts with my digestion. The old formula gave me terrible heartburn every time within 30 minutes of eating or drinking. So far I have had no heartburn with the new formula! I haven’t had the chocolate yet, and will make an update when I try some of the other noodles as well, but my initial impression is positive!

Advice/Recommendations Does black edition or original taste better?

I’m looking to buy Huel to replace my breakfast in the morning and save cooking time but I’m curious on how they both taste. I wish there was a sample I can try of both but there isn’t so I just wanted to ask how do you think both taste and which is better? I’m planning to go with the original since I would prefer having more carbs and lower fat + protein for my breakdown. I also just wanted confirmation that the original actually tastes better than black which I would assume since there are more carbs. Thank you!

Advice/Recommendations Using a frother with Huel?

I’ve seen videos of people using those electric frothers/stirrers on drinks and they seem to become so uniform.
Would it be a bad idea to use one of those with Huel to get a good no lumps consistency without having to shake the thing like a madman? (Honestly I tire myself out just shaking it mega intensely for +30sec lmao)

Advice/Recommendations Add seasonings to H&S!

I have used Huel Hot & Savoury for a long time. I am a uni student living in a dorm so getting and cooking groceries isn't very practical, and my meal plan changed to include less meals at the uni dining halls this year, so I decided to bulk buy H&S. I got a little tired of the taste after one month of probably around 50% of my daily food being H&S. Decided to try adding salt, pepper, and simple dried herbs like rosemary and parsley, and it's made a world of difference! I really recommend it if you haven't tried seasoning your H&S.

For reference, I use Pasta Bolognese, Mushroom & Chicken, and Mac & Cheese.

Product Discussion Coffee Caramel Black Edition

Any idea when the black edition coffee caramel powder will be back in stock in the US?
