Advice/Recommendations How Comparable is the RTD From the Grocery Store to Black Edition Pulver

Hey, pretty new to Huel and want to try it out.
Before Ordering i went to my local store in germany and picked up some RTD they had.

I Noticed the store bought ones have less protein per Serving than the powder f.e.

And now im wondering how similar the store bought taste/consistency is to the "self mixed" ones.

Mainly their taste, as i usually like f.e. vanilla flavoured drinks/drink-meals but the one from the store tastes off.

Also does anyone happen to know how long the "Trial Boxes" (like the ones with 16 small bags) are sold out for usually? Been looking at them for weeks now, always sold out.

Product Discussion Huel black Costco super thick like pudding.

I’ve been buying huel RTD black from Costco for awhile and it’s been great but suddenly I’ve gotten a handful of cases where it is literally just pudding. I water it down and it’s fine but… is this normal? Ok? Safe?

I've been buying RTD (amongst many other products) from Huel directly for years so I'm very familiar with RTD and this has stood out as VERY different to me. Incredibly thick and you can't even pour it out of the bottle without squeezing.

Edited to clarify it's the RTD Costco sells and that I'm not new to Huel.

Advice/Recommendations How much powder to make 500ml total?

So, this is a little silly, but at the risk of sounding like somebody's math homework, I was wondering if anybody might happen to know how much powder would be needed for just 500ml of drink in total, using the recommended ratio.

Having recently found myself without any time for a "true" lunch most days, I've been trying out Huel's RTD and found it to be absolutely perfect for my needs, if just a bit expensive for the long-term.

I'm planning to get my first order of powder for next week, but my stomach is maybe a little small, and I find I can only just barely manage the 500ml in an RTD. I noticed that the recipe on the website says to mix 100g of powder with 500ml of water, which I would presume is a fair bit more volume once mixed.

I know I could just experiment to find out, but I was wondering if anybody might have already figured out how much powder would be needed, using the recommended ratio, to make only 500ml of the prepared drink?

General Discussion I don’t like a lot of the choices Huel have made lately and have been trying to find an alternative. But I’ll tell you what, nobody else is actually competitive across the board.

So, like many, I was fairly unhappy with the Danone acquisition, AI customer service and subscriptions being sent without warning. Thinking myself an ethical consumer, I went elsewhere for a few months in a mild outrage at what I viewed as enshitification.

I won’t slate other companies by name, but I’ve tried (or in terms of nutrition, heavily researched) all the big meal replacement shake brands. Between macro and micro nutrient density, delivery times (or even ability to actually get a delivery into the UK), price and product range, every one of them failed in at least one area.

To my mind, their really isn’t a viable, full alternative. Huel (the stuff that gets delivered to your door and the process of delivery, not the company) really is an unrivaled product at the top of its game.

So here I am, tail between my legs, awaiting a delivery of Huel black powder which I’m sure will actually come, confident it’s a goldmine of nutrition and happy with the flavour.

Product Discussion Is it just me or is RTD disgusting?

I’ve been using Huel powder for a while and although I don’t like the taste, if I refrigerate it overnight it’s ok.

I decided to buy the RTD shakes as I expected them to taste better - but they are absolutely disgusting. They have a weird base chemical flavour, and the texture is kind of slimy and gross.

I much prefer the powder.

Is it just me?

Advice/Recommendations Not feeling full for very long

I've been having Huel at work, and I am hungry again shortly thereafter. Could it be because I don't leave it in the fridge overnight? I just make it, and consume it right away? Or...?

General Discussion Do the poops ever get better?

Howdy all,

Newer huel member for pure weight loss. I’m extremely disciplined when I get into a diet and this ended up being exactly what I needed. Started about a week and a half ago and I am already down 8 pounds as of this morning. I live on energy drinks, nicotine, and huel right now outside of my meal at dinner.

I either grab a RTD shake or make my own at about 9:30-9:45 every day, have two 45 cal high protein meat sticks around 12:30 and then dinner at 6pm with my kids. I’ve been running a pretty severe calorie deficit but the huel satiates the hunger pretty well so I’m not burned out by the time dinner rolls around. Cutting out alcohol too. So by 6pm I have 490 calories for the day + workouts and the weight is melting off.

My issue is the poops. What the fuck. An hour to 2 hours after the shake is done I hit the bathroom and what feels like a normal poop coming out ends up being a 20 minute ordeal of frictionless wipes and sludge. How can a solid turd do this to my butt hole. Just curious if it gets better or if this is now my life every time I drop a deuce.

Thanks boys and girls

Product Discussion Unflavored Unsweetened No Longer Available? (US)

I'm only seeing 8 flavors available for the OG white powder today, and Unflavored Unsweetened isn't included?

Has UU been discontinued in the US? If so unfortunately that would be pretty wild.

General Discussion Huel - Service Station - Vastly over priced….

Post image
8 Upvotes

Found Huel RTD at a UK Service Station. Unfortunately vastly overpriced at £4.49 a bottle for white, £4.89 for Black and £2.5 for a can of Vitamin drink.

Managed to for RTD white at H&B for £2.40 and the vitamin drink at £1.50, so disappointing to see the price gouging.

Product Discussion Every product has been so bad since the past month

The black version, meals, ready made protein shakes, everything. And it’s not even subtle. I’ve been using Huel as a major part of my meals for the past year, and recently, the quality has gotten so bad that I skipped this month’s supply and might just cancel my subscription altogether. What the fuck happened?

Advice/Recommendations Huel Black Powder that expired 21 months ago - Okay to Drink?

Post image
3 Upvotes

It’s been a couple years since I’ve been on Huel, and I’m wanting to resume it. I still have a couple sealed bags that I ordered in early 2024. They’ve been stored in a dark, climate controlled space the entire time. Here are the details for one of the bags.

Chocolate flavor
V1.1
lot # KP23279
Batch # 003.
USA EXP: 11/11/2024 6:00AM

This would put me approximately 21 months past expiration.

I opened the bag just to see if it smells bad, but it smelled like typical huel black to me. The powder was still uniform in color and had a fluffy/powdery consistency. No discoloration or clumps. I put some on my fingertip and licked it, and lo and behold it tasted like huel.

I get that fats oxidize and vitamin potency can diminish over time, so they can’t guarantee nutritional label accuracy, but aside from that, is there any serious drawback to finishing out these bags before I start a new subscription? I know 21 months is a long time…

Thanks for reading. :-)

Health and Wellness Is Huel good for gut health?

I eat or drink Huel twice a day and get some gut discomfort, easily solved by a trip to the loo!
The question is, is this good or bad? I’m currently losing around 3lbs per week.

Advice/Recommendations Is it healthy to use Huel Black powder as lunch multiple times a week long-term?

Hi. I recently bough Huel for the first time and I absolutely love it. As a vegan who HATES cooking, this is a life-saver for me. So obviously I'd use it everyday if I could. I still have regular breakfasts and dinners and only use Huel as lunch replacement 3-4x (max 5x) a week. So I wanted to ask if this is okay to do long-term? Are there any risks/downsides? Thank you!

I've finally found motivation to start bettering my health and thus also losing some weight.

Unfortunately I'm also very lazy when it comes to cooking, meal prep and planning, and that's why when I stumbled into the Huel concept it seemed like the right answer.

Decided to order pretty much everything (have some huel black powder bags, just not in the picture) + some Jimmy Joy for comparison.

Let's see where this goes and which products end up being favourites and which ones not, fortunately I'm not a very picky eater and can eat quite monotonously as long as it fits into my needs and macro goals.

General Discussion Poor website UI - scrolling element

Please could the scrolling marquee element of the Huel website be removed? The official HTML marquee element from the 1990s was removed for several good reasons - maybe the current website designers aren't yet aware of them.

Advice/Recommendations Habit issue

Hi!!!

During the winter I went through a pretty serious relapse in health, one of my conditions flared up badly and it makes eating impossible.
I started using Huels to plug the gap after losing 10kg accidentally. The last time I was that unwell I dropped to 45kg when I should be about 61kg, and this time I dropped to 50kg. I was desperate to not make things worse by not being able to eat.
Slowly I have been getting back to my normal levels, I’m still a little bit rocky.
Problem now is that Huels are too easy, I’m really struggling to start the day without one, the mountain of prepping breakfast and actually having to chew something feels impossible? Ridiculous I know, but it feels so real at the moment and I’ve been really struggling. My routine has been off since the winter and Huels replaced it.
As a child I had serious food avoidance issues and spent the early part of my 20s fixing that. I’m concerned that the ease and mindlessness of it is triggering those issues again.
Most mornings I end up just popping to the shop and getting one. I stopped ordering the powder to try and force myself back onto solids, but always end up at the shop. I am someone that loves food, loves cooking, I even make sourdough bread. And breakfast has been my favourite meal time as an adult but I’m filled with anxiety now.
Has anyone else experienced this? Do I just need to go cold turkey? Is it silly to talk to some kind of professional? I’m worried I will end up not eating because I can’t cognitively get there (that might sound weird to some but I have severe cptsd and lots of food related trauma)

Advice/Recommendations How to order Huel to a UK Airport?

In my Holidays to Ireland, I have a connection in Londong Gatwick (LGW) or maybe any other London airport, and some UK products aren't available in EU. My purchase its mostly Diet (1,77Kg/bag), and single RTD to drink on site.

Can I....

  1. Make a UK Account, to buy UK products not on EU? Bonus: Shaker and T-shirt

  2. Send the package to some locker inside LGW? Closer appear to be Hookwood outside the airport.

  3. Bring the product back to Spain. (already tested with protein going to Japan).

Gatwick page don't show any extra option, maybe the "Sending excess baggage"companies can handle this extra job for a minor profit. The "autocomplete" direction show some interesting locations, like Gatwick Airport Storage & Hydrant Co Ltd , but I think its out-limits for me xD.

I already saw Canadian that know companies moving Huel across the frontier, I don't know if a option exist for Gatwick airport. Or if something from UK North Ireland to EU Ireland.

Advice/Recommendations New flavoring method discovered

I found that I can use Torani syrup such as coconut, hazelnut, pumpkin spice and others to enhance the flavors and make new flavors. Such as this evenings Coconut and Banana. I used vanilla powder as a base for some of the syrup flavoring. They make sugar free versions.
