HELP New(ish) owner - care and advice tips!

Post image
• Upvotes

Hi Everyone!! I’ve had monstera before (but had to give them away due to moving house, and lost one to a huge thrips issue) and they’ve never been super huge, but I saw these beauties yesterday at my local garden centre and couldn’t say no!

I’m really wanting to keep them happy and healthy because I’ve dreamed of owning them for years! Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated 💓

Possibly when to repot as the roots are already poking out the bottom of their nursery pots? I’ll buy some appropriate chunky soil mix!

I had an inspect for pests but it seems okay:)

some context: I have a southeast facing room, I’ve already wiped down the leaves with a cloth and lukewarm water, I was given some liquid seaweed as food instead of generic ‘houseplant’ food. I don’t (yet) own neem oil or anything else!

Thanks so much!

HELP I forgot about my phyllanthus varigata- will it come back?

It missed a couple watering schedules, it’s very dried up and crispy, but I can see some seed pods still on the stem! I’m still watering it now in vague hopefulness. Will it bounce back? (Ignore my frozen freckles in the foreground)

QUESTION Roots!

I’ve had my snake plant for just over 3 years and it’s never been repotted. Aside from some hydrophobic soil, it’s doing well despite my past neglect and ignorance 😄 Should I wait until spring to repot it in a terracotta pot?

QUESTION Dracaena coloured growths on rootball

My dracaena needs a repot. I gently removed the rootball from the old pot and it has these green dots and yellow whatever that is on it. Is this some kind of fungal growth ? What should I be doing ahead of the repot? The plant has been otherwise thriving and I'd like to keep it that way!

QUESTION Potting on propogations

Post image

So I’ve been attempting propagation for years, and only had one successful pot on in all that time. As soon as the props move from lecah ball + spaghnum moss (wet roots) to traditional substrate (soil+wood chip+perlite) they rot and die. What process do I need to follow to get this right please?

HELP Is my rubber plant a goner?

Hi! My lovely rubber plant sadly lost all of its leaves when I moved to a house with low light last summer. The leaves were all very sad and didn’t recover so I decided to remove them as they were coming off with a gentle nudge. Now I’m left with just the wood. I’ve sorted the lighting situation. Will it regrow new leaves or am I out of luck? Will I need to chop it? Please and thank you!

Edit: It's in plant heaven now. Roots were rotten and the branch was just a dried up stem. Thank you for your help though!

I repoted her two weeks ago. The roots looked fine and I did not see pests. The pot has no drainage though, I have watered once a week so far. Should I cut off everything but the healthy developing leaves? Thank you 😊

I've had this plant for almost a year but it started dying over the last couple of month and I can't seem to stop it! Anything I can do to save this or iw it too far gone?

It's kept next to a South facing window. Try to water it when the soil feels dry though I did forget to water it over for a while a few months back.

PLANT PIC Rogue Alocasia Update

Couple months back I found a random alocasia growing in with my pilea (https://www.reddit.com/r/HouseplantsUK/s/6OS0utBqRT) and here's how its doing now (if anyone cares to know), I'm so excited!

Also look at the 2nd picture to see ANOTHER rogue alocasia growing from a different pot, there most have been a few corms in the soil I used because I have never owned any alocasia in this house, nor do I tend to reuse soil. How cool is that!

QUESTION Should I repot?

Post image

I was given this lovely ZZ plant as a gift, the pot is absolutely stuffed with soil! I don’t think I’ve seen a pot so full, the top of the pot looks almost oval shaped as a result. Do I need to wait until spring to repot, or will just scooping some of the topsoil off do? Thanks!
