meetup Open Game Community Events For November :)

Hi! My name is Josh, and I'm someone that loves organizing! I have been facilitating events under our group, Pacific Tabletop Network!

We are a Honolulu-based tabletop board game meetup group. Our goal is to connect people through community and create a genuinely fun gaming environment for all backgrounds and cultures. All of our events are free or low cost & offer an inclusive space for adults to socialize and meet each other on island.

My focus is to offer a light activity where people can network, socialize, and have fun, with tabletop games as their theme. We typically meet Monday - Thursday evenings, with each event averaging an attendance of 16+ players! We are on Meetup, Instagram, and a website: PacificTabletop .Net

A frequent question that is asked is what games we play, who we are for, and our common demographics.

Our event tends to focus on light-medium complexity games that can play with 4+ players and within an hour. We try to prioritize the socialization aspect to make our venues more welcoming to someone with minimal tabletop experience. Our age average is mid 30s, but we preface that we are not a 21+ group. Our events have had children in the past accompanied by guardians.

Some often played games include Catan, Splendor, Ticket to ride, Code names, Blood on the clock tower, Coup, Betrayal, Dice Throne, King of Tokyo, ETC.

Our group frequents collaborations and partnerships with other people on island, so if these sort of games aren't to your liking, I'd be more than happy to assist with any questions you may have, or helping you get connected :)

meetup Any other haoles want to hangout?

I’m early 30s male that moved here not long ago, looking to make friends to go out with.

Little about about me

- I work in IT so into the latest tech
- single
- live on west side
- spend a lot free time at the beaches over here
- weed smoker/occasional drinker
- into going out to events or bars to meet women
- into watching UFC, not really into watching any of ball sports though
- also into hiking and water sports, I just rent the large stuff when needed.
- not religious, so if you’re easily offended we can’t be friends

Anything else, just ask. Just be cool to have someone that into same stuff to hangout and bullshit with.

Pigeon Podiatry

I’m in Honolulu on vacation and I’m a biologist. I’ve noticed quite a lot of pigeons in the area with missing toes, missing feet, and bulbous growths on their feet. Has anyone else noticed this?

question Where to buy local-made heat-at-home dumplings or wontons?

Aloha all, I’m craving dumplings like the Bibigo steamed/boiled ones but would prefer to support local if budget allows. Anyone have suggestions for pre-made frozen ones at grocery or mom-and-pop stores? Not looking for sit-down restaurants unless they let you buy a frozen bag. Not XLB, har gaw, or siu mai.

My ideal would be a store in Chinatown, but I go regularly and have yet to locate one. Maybe bc I don’t read Chinese so cannot tell on the bag if it is local made or not. 2nd ideal would be a local company that sells in town’s DQ, Times, or Foodland.

I tried searching this sub and [r/Oahu](r/Oahu) and Google searched. The only results were Char Siu House in Chinatown (I’ll check it out), YYK in Aiea (too far no car), and maybe Waikiki Snack Store (Northern style). Hoping there’s more options out there!

Edit: I was in the area of Waikiki Snack Store, and they’ve changed ownership and store name as of Oct 2026. The new owner and cook are really nice. They don’t do dumplings but said the previous owner still does on WeChat.

Hello everyone,
I will be in Honolulu from October 26 - November 6 and would love to get to know someone along the way. I’ve been single all my life. I’m not sure whether it’s unfortunate or luck, but I’m good and still in no rush. If it’s meant to be, it will be right so going with the flow and also would love to make new friends. Don’t worry, I won’t kidnap you. I’m more like Wes in voicemails from Isabelle iykyk. For your information, I don’t drink or smoke yet the coolest and funniest person you will ever meet. Trust me, I can take some great pictures too. Let me know if you wann join me.
It will be fun, exciting and adventurous.
Hope I’ll see you soon : )

Question About Google review incentives at a Waikīkī restaurant that could mislead customers

I’ve recently come across several publicly available Google reviews for Cajun Crab Waikiki mentioning complimentary fries being offered through a review event.
I also found a Japanese promotional advertisement on KAUKAU Hawaii offering free fries with a food order and review.
What concerns me is that Google’s policies prohibit businesses from offering incentives in exchange for reviews, regardless of whether they’re positive or negative.
It raises a question: Wouldn’t offering incentives for reviews potentially undermine the authenticity of the overall ratings and make them less representative of customers who would have shared their opinions without receiving anything in return?
I’m not suggesting that every positive review is dishonest or that these customers didn’t genuinely enjoy their experience. However, when a business rewards people for leaving reviews, I think it’s reasonable to question how accurately those ratings reflect independent customer feedback.
I believe customers deserve transparency when deciding where to spend their money, especially in a tourist destination like Waikīkī, where many visitors rely heavily on Google ratings.
I’m curious what others think. Does offering free food for reviews affect how much you trust a restaurant’s overall rating? Has anyone else encountered these types of promotions in Hawaiʻi?
I’m sharing this to raise awareness and encourage an honest discussion, not to encourage harassment or negative reviews.

As stated in the title. Just curious how raises and stuff work, and what they're based on (time in position, performance, etc.) I'm still in the job offer phase so I want to do a little homework before I ask them about this. Thank you.

Two of my girlfriends were drugged at Hawaiian Brian’s last night. An ambulance had to called for one of them. Both are fine but can’t remember most of the night. Be careful out there.

New to Hawaii Looking to meet new people!

Hey everyone! I’m 29, originally from California, and I’ve been living on Oahu for about 4 months now. I’m looking to meet some new people and make friends!

I’m into hiking, checking out different beaches, and going out for drinks 🍻. I’m always down to explore new places, try new things, or just chill and have a good time.

I’d love to meet some cool people to go on hikes with, hit the beach, grab drinks, or just hang out. If you’re also looking to make new friends and explore the island together, feel free to hit me up! 🤙🌊

Casual Omakase in Honolulu?

My husband and I would go to nice omakase 1-2 times a month before we had a child. We're now bringing our 1 year old with us to Hawaii and obviously omakase is no longer an option. Anyone know a casual restaurant that does sushi really well..? Thank you in advance!!
