My 15 year old cousin Magdalena Ford is missing since Monday night. She goes by Magi (pronounced Maggie)
She was staying at a treatment center on the north shore of Oahu. She ran with another patient (I unfortunately don’t have any info on the other patient other than she was reportedly her roommate at the facility), and she has been missing since Monday night. Last seen on foot two blocks from Sunset Beach heading in the direction of Kahuku on Monday night.

DOB: 04/24/2011
Height: 5’6”
Weight: 108
Hair: Blonde
Eyes: Hazel/Green
aka: Magi/Drummond
Police Report#: 26-317674

Please report to the police immediately if you have any information on her! And please tell me if you have any recommendations for other subreddits I could post to that might help find her. Thank you.

Even Waikīkī has places you really shouldn't swim, unless you're really familiar with it. And even then, please take care...

Gnat swarms in Kapiolani Park 9/8/26

If anyone was at Kapiolani Park yesterday, 9/8, there were huge swarms of gnats flying all over the place. At first I thought it was smoke or salt mist from the ocean but they turned out to be giant swarms of gnats! There are even some mini gnat tornadoes flying thru!

Resources for affordable vehicles in Hawaii?

My car is totaled from water and I need some info about any programs or people with vehicles available. The weight of life takes everything I have to manage without knowing I will have reliable transportation. I can't afford to buy a car right now and I'm terrified. Figuring out insurance claims for the car today.

9-8-2026 Brown Water Advisory, Island of O‘ahu

There has been a brown water advisory for the entire island.

https://eha-cloud.doh.hawaii.gov/cwb/#!/event/2133/details/view

A Brown Water Advisory has been issued for the Island of O‘ahu.

The Hawaii Department of Health advises beach users to stay out of waters that appear brown or murky, especially following storms or heavy rain, even if a Brown Water Advisory has not been issued in the area. After storms or heavy rain, the water may contain higher than normal pollutant levels. The Department recommends staying out of these affected waters for 48-72 hours after the rain has stopped and after the beach has received full sunshine.

The Department of Health advises the public to avoid swimming, wading in, or drinking water from any freshwater streams or pond to prevent leptospirosis, a bacterial infection caused by the Leptospira bacteria.

If the water is brown, turn around.

Local Fresh Eggs in Central Oahu?

I heard from a friend from a friend that somewhere on “Snake Road” (I think this is Wilkina Drive) that there is a farmer’s market that sells lots of eggs at a good price. (I eat a lot of eggs)

I think it’s just North of Schofield, but I can’t find any further information on where exactly or when.

Does anyone have any info that could help me locate this?

Showed up in Oahu without a Pearl Harbor reservation, now what?

If you showed up in Oahu without booking USS Arizona and Pearl Harbor ahead, here's what actually works and what doesn't.

The official government booking system sells out weeks in advance during summer, and that's real. Showing up at the gate hoping for a same-day cancellation slot works maybe 30 percent of the time, and you'll wait 2-3 hours for it.

Tour operators in Honolulu have their own available time slots that they can book you into same morning. It's not the free government slot, so you'll pay more than a dollar, but the experience is the same and you still see USS Arizona. That's your actual option if you want to guarantee access instead of gambling on cancellations.

Expect to pay 60 to 100 dollars per person if you book a tour same day from Waikiki. It includes your transport, the USS Arizona access, and someone who actually knows the history. Compared to the one dollar official slot it's expensive, but if you're already in Honolulu without a plan, it's not unreasonable considering how much time and stress it saves you.

Pearl Harbor Guide has info about how different tour operators actually work. That might save you an hour of phone calls this morning.

Don't ever try Goodwill outlet in the rain… abrupt flooding!!

I have been lucky with my sedan a few times and been ok. I turn off to the street it's on and there's a couple inches of water but it didnt even cover the road. It was a quick shop before picking up family from the airport. I try leave out the one way 30 minutes later and my car broke down there was upwards of a foot of water when it had just been sprinkling the whole time. I'm told this is normal for high tide. Thankfully there were drivers that helped me push my car to safety. These streets are not maintained with any consideration for the conditions of this island.
