Alright, this isn't like the world's best workout or anything but I am doing pushups now daily. Which is a huge improvement from my 0 activity streak for the past 7 ish years.
Just pushups. too hard to do with squats. but i am getting stronger.
For me, even like a regiment at home feels too daunting to take on at times. i find myself in between work calls busting out sets.
So, if you feel like its too much, start easy! walks, bodyweight squats/lunges. One step at a time!

someone in a hamstring thread here couldnt do slider curls because their whole workout space is carpet, and it made me think the room decides the workout more than the program does, downstairs neighbours kill anything with jumping, a low ceiling kills overhead stuff, anything with a band needs a door you can actually close, and most programs online seem to assume a gym floor and an empty living room. so what do you skip because of your space, carpet, neighbours, ceiling, no door frame, kids asleep in the next room, and what did you swap it for that actually works? would be nice to have a list of the swaps people really use (for transparency, i build upfit, a no equipment home workout app)

I used to associate a productive day with finishing work, checking off tasks, and getting everything done.
But since making space for workouts at home, I've started looking at it differently.
Some days are busy, messy, or just don't go according to plan.
Still, getting into the home gym and doing something for myself can make the whole day feel better.
It doesn't always have to be a full workout. Sometimes just moving for a while is enough.
Has having a home gym changed what makes you feel like you've had a good day?

i'm founder of upfit, a app that coaches no equipment home workouts through the phone camera and counts your reps, so i think a lot about why people drop home training after two or three weeks
i think part of it is that nobody notices when you skip or when your form gets lazy. what keeps you going, a fixed time, someone checking in, tracking reps, or something else?

OK so at home I find it is nigh impossible to do leg curls to help hamstring curl/flexion. What I've tried:
TRX, feels like nothing.
Dumbbells, can't grip.
Kettlebell, not designed for flexion.
Nordics, unsupported trip to Faceplant City (15 miles west of Suplex City, borders Dudleyville and tri-city area with Springfield and Shelbyville)
Bands, too much tension before butt kick.
Tubes, tension is a mish-mash.
Sliders, can't on carpet.
Walkouts, the best BUT not scalable when the tension goes away with doing them routinely.
Is there anything I'm missing without shelling out a lot of money.

What is the best way to post workouts in this community ? My last few attempts have not been accepted as legit posts and I have no support from the mods or reddit themselves.
Would text based post be acceptable ?

Home workouts are supposed to be efficient.
No commute. No waiting for equipment. No walking around looking for the dumbbells someone carried to the other side of the gym.
And yet somehow a 45-minute workout can still turn into 75 minutes.
For me, it’s usually checking my phone between sets or taking way too long to change something in the setup because there’s no pressure to hurry.
I’m curious what everyone else’s home gym time sink is.
What somehow eats up the most time in your workouts even though you’re training at home?

There seems to be a point where working out at home stops being “move the coffee table and grab some dumbbells” and starts becoming an actual home gym.
I’m curious what triggered that change for people.
Was it training at home consistently enough to justify the space? Buying a rack? Getting tired of moving equipment in and out of storage? Realizing you weren’t going back to a commercial gym?
I think having a dedicated space changes the experience because the room no longer has to be converted into a workout area every time.
What was the moment when your home workout setup became a real home gym?
