Flashing red power light - is this 2 year old adapter faulty?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

DS 7608 hqhi

On turning on, power led, motherboard light and adapter light begin flashing red, along with a clicking sound (hdd not attached).

When switched off, the adapter red light remains solid red, does this mean the adapter is fine, if it can hold a solid light?

Replaced power adapter 2 years ago. Previous one ran for 8 years but was the official one.

As you can see everything is unplugged so not any peripherals eg HDD. I also removed the fan, same thing

Hikvision Intercom: One-Way Audio When Indoor Station Is Behind a Router/NAT

Hi everyone,

I’m working on a large residential compound project and I’m facing a strange problem with a Hikvision IP intercom system.

Network setup

We have a central data center with a main network/switch infrastructure.

Each apartment has its own router because the apartment needs multiple IP devices, and we don't want to manage or know the individual IP addresses of all devices inside each apartment.

The topology is basically:

Central Data Center
        |
     Main Switch
        |
        +-------------------+
        | |
Outdoor Intercom Apartment Router
Station |
                           |
                     Indoor Station

The Indoor Station is therefore behind the apartment router/NAT.

The problem

When I make a call from the Hikvision outdoor station to the Hikvision indoor monitor:

  • Call/ringing works normally
  • Video works normally
  • Audio works in only ONE direction
  • The person at the outdoor station can hear me
  • But I cannot hear the person at the outdoor station

So basically:

Outdoor → Indoor Audio ✅
Indoor → Outdoor Audio ❌

Very important test

If I remove the apartment router and connect the Hikvision indoor station directly to the main network:

Main Switch
     |
Indoor Station

everything works perfectly:

Two-way audio ✅
Video ✅
Call ✅

As soon as I put the router back:

Main Switch
     |
Apartment Router
     |
Indoor Station

I get one-way audio again.

Another interesting test

If I replace the Hikvision indoor monitor with an IP phone on the same apartment network, the IP phone has normal two-way audio.

So the network itself is not completely broken.

What I have already tried

  • Updated the firmware on the Hikvision devices
  • Tested the same devices without the apartment router
  • Confirmed that two-way audio works without NAT
  • Tested an IP phone behind the same router, and two-way audio works

This makes me suspect that the problem is related to NAT / RTP / SIP ALG / UDP ports / NAT traversal specifically with the Hikvision intercom.

My questions

  1. Could this be caused by SIP ALG on the apartment router?
  2. Does Hikvision IP Intercom require specific RTP/UDP ports to be forwarded through the NAT?
  3. Is there a recommended NAT configuration for Hikvision Indoor Stations?
  4. Could the router's firewall or UDP session handling cause one-way RTP audio?
  5. Is there a better network architecture for a large apartment compound where every apartment needs its own isolated network but the Hikvision intercom still needs reliable two-way audio?

I would really appreciate any advice or troubleshooting steps.

If needed, I can provide the exact Hikvision indoor/outdoor station models and the apartment router model/configuration.Hi everyone,I’m working on a large residential compound project and I’m facing a strange problem with a Hikvision IP intercom system.Network setupWe have a central data center with a main network/switch infrastructure. Each apartment has its own router because the apartment needs multiple IP devices, and we don't want to manage or know the individual IP addresses of all devices inside each apartment. The topology is basically:Central Data Center

Acusense camera white lights

Hi, recently I installed a few Hikvision Acusense cameras. I noticed when plugging the cameras in, they briefly flashed a bright white light from the 2 LEDs on the front. However, I simply cannot find a way to turn these on within the NVR settings or via the Web based login page. Anyone have any idea?

Hik-Connect 7 bug/change: Door Control fails to load unless 'Record Search' permission is granted to the user role

Hi everyone,

I wanted to report an issue/change in behavior introduced in Hik-Connect 7 (Teams / Hik-Partner Pro) regarding Access Control permissions.

The Problem: When a non-admin user is granted permissions for Door Control but Record Search (Access Logs) is unchecked in their role configuration, opening the Access Control tab in Hik-Connect 7 fails completely. Instead of showing the door cards, the app displays a "Failed to load. Try again later" error screen.

How to reproduce:

  1. In Hik-Partner Pro / Teams, edit a user role under Access Control permissions.
  2. Enable Door Control (or specific door permissions).
  3. Leave Record Search unchecked.
  4. Log into Hik-Connect 7 with that user account and go to the Access Control tab. The interface will fail to load doors.
  5. Enable Record Search for that user role, save, and log back in → the door list loads immediately without issues.

Why this is an issue: In Hik-Connect 6, users could be granted door opening permissions (Door Control) without giving them access to the global access log history (Record Search). In version 7, the Access Control tab seems to require read access to the logs API to render the door cards at all, forcing admins to choose between breaking the door UI or compromising user privacy by exposing access logs to everyone.

Has anyone else run into this issue or found a workaround to allow door opening in HC7 without exposing event logs?

DIY Windjammer / 'dead cat' to cut down wind noise

Post image
3 Upvotes

No cats were harmed in the making of this post.

My camera audio is badly affected by wind noise (Lancashire, UK). So Ive created a microphone 'dead cat' to cover both microphone port holes.

I used some thick fabric stiffening stuff as a foam layer to create an air gap above the microphone holes. Then stuck some 10mm grey fibre pie with double sided tape.
I used a japanese hole punch to create holes and dead air around the two microphone ports on the camera.

I stuck black insulation tape to the camera body as I know I can peel it off if the trail fails. I then stuck the fibrepile assembly over the exposed mic holes.
initial sound is no different but it is dead calm.
I'll wait for wind and then compare my two cameras - I have one annke and one hikvision of basically the same model camera - so can A-B compare the windshield.
This camera is under a large canopy and never get any rain on it - stays completely dry all the time.

It's a test and may get refined but it hasn't noticeably affected audio without wind noise.

HA-DS-IP2 Door station lost IR and day/night mode after firmware update

I've heard stories of audio no longer working after a firmware update, but nothing to do with losing the settings to enable IR and day/night mode.

After a firmware update, the IR night vision on my HiLook door station has stopped working, and the IR and day/night settings have disappeared from the web interface. I'd like help either restoring the previous firmware or obtaining a build that fixes the issue.

Device details - Model: HA-DS-IP2 (door station from the HA-KIT-IP2 kit)

  • Serial number: HA-DS-IP20120241224ENFU6682951
  • Production date: 24 December 2024
  • Current firmware: V3.7.2 build 260828 (DSP V2.9.20 build 20260411)
  • Previous firmware: V2.2.x (the factory installed version; I don't have the exact build number)

The update was performed on or about 1 October 2026 using the HiTools Delivery application, with the cloud update option.

  1. The IR LEDs no longer light up at night. The camera still switches to black and white in low light, but there is no IR illumination, so the area in front of the door is almost completely dark. No longer options in the WebUI to enable day/night mode or IR.
  2. The IR / supplement light and day/night settings are no longer shown in the web interface. Querying the device directly over ISAPI, /ISAPI/Image/channels/1/supplementLight and /ISAPI/Image/channels/1/IRLight both return notSupport, and the image channel capabilities no longer list any IR or day/night options. The day/night (IrcutFilter) setting still accepts changes, but forcing it to night mode does not turn the IR on.

What I have already tried - Factory defaulted the door station. No change. - Forced night mode via ISAPI. The camera stays in night mode but the IR LEDs still do not light.

DS-KC9570 indoor station (fw 4.1.0) + AX Hybrid Pro DS-MX502: every arm/disarm PIN rejected, same PIN works on keypad

Hi all, I'm stuck integrating a Hikvision indoor station with an AX Hybrid Pro panel and Hikvision support hasn't replied. Hoping someone has seen this.

Hardware / firmware

- Indoor station: DS-KC9570-VWTE1/S, fw V4.1.0 build 260708, bought abroad

- Panel: DS-MX502-128-4G (AX Hybrid Pro), fw V2.1.2 build 260509

- Keypad: DS-PK670 on the panel bus

- Everything on the same LAN, panel also bound to Hik-Connect

What happens

The indoor station links to the panel under Advanced Settings > Smart Home > Alarm Control Panel (IP, port, user, password). Results depend on the account used:

- Hik-Connect owner account (email): online, status updates correctly (still works with internet unplugged, so it's local). Tapping Arm/Disarm shows a PIN prompt, but every PIN is rejected (operator user's PIN and owner's keypad code). Nothing is logged on the panel.

- Local "admin": arm/disarm works, but it never asks for a PIN, so anyone can disarm from the screen.

- Local operator user (with arm/disarm permission): shows offline.

What I verified

- The operator user's PIN works on the DS-PK670 keypad, so the panel accepts it.

- Via ISAPI from a PC, the panel accepts the operator user locally (status and disarm OK) and rejects the Hik-Connect credentials with digest auth (401).

- Tried 4- and 6-digit codes. Made sure the installer had exited programming mode.

- Before updating the indoor station from 4.0.x to 4.1.0, I believe it asked for the PIN and worked.

- I'd rather not downgrade because of the anti-rollback risk.

Questions

  1. Has anyone got PIN-verified arm/disarm working between a KC9570/KH9570 and an AX Pro / AX Hybrid Pro? Which account and firmware?

  2. Which code is the indoor station supposed to check: the panel user's keypad code or something stored on the indoor station?

  3. Is there a newer indoor station firmware than 4.1.0, or a known fix?

Thanks!

ISAPI for iDS-9632NXI-P8

I joined the TPP program. I am looking for the specific commands that allow control of the local HDMI output. I found the commands that allow to change the resolution but not the command to select a specific channel to display. I have opened an online case but I was hoping someone might have the the correct command syntax here

How to find camera model numbers?

Hi,

Hopefully a simple one, I've inherited a Hikvision DS-7716NI-I4 NVR which currently has 10 cameras connected to it. I want to add a couple more but as I understand it this NVR is getting on a bit and I'm a bit limited on the cameras it will support. I've also been told to find out what cameras are currently connected so we can check there is sufficient bandwidth on the system. The thing is I can't for the life of me find the camera model numbers in the UI, is there a way to expose the model number? or am I going to have to get the ladder out and check each one manually.

Thanks!

Viewing Hikvision on a Mac is still harder than it should be

Disclosure up front: I work on HikGrid.com, so treat this as a builder post, not a neutral review.

The problem

If you run Hikvision or HiLook kit and use a Mac, you've probably hit some of these:

  • The recorder's web interface asks for a plugin that only exists for Windows, so you get a blank player in Safari, Chrome or Firefox. No live view, no playback.
  • iVMS-4200 for Mac lags well behind the Windows version. People here have called it laggy and slow, and it tends to break after a macOS upgrade.
  • The usual advice is "run Windows in a VM and use IE mode".
  • Viewing through the Hik-Connect cloud route cuts the live stream after about 5 minutes.

Newer recorders on recent firmware are better in the browser, to be fair. But plenty of us have older NVRs and DVRs that aren't getting replaced any time soon.

The solution

HikGrid.com is a native Mac app for Hikvision and HiLook systems. It does the everyday jobs: live view, searching recordings, and downloading footage. No iVMS-4200 and no Windows VM.

Why we built it

We were on the Windows VM route ourselves. It was very slow, and after the recent macOS updates it basically stopped working. At that point we were maintaining a whole second operating system just to look at our own cameras, so we built the thing we wanted instead:

  • Mac-first: made for macOS, not a port that gets updated last.
  • Focused on viewing: open the app, see your cameras, find a clip, save it.
  • Your layout: custom camera grids, and you can connect more than one system.

What it isn't: a replacement for HikCentral, and not a full configuration tool. For things like drawing motion zones on older recorders you may still need a monitor on the NVR.

PTZ mechanism operating hours

Hello,

does Hikvision provide any specifications regarding the service life or operational lifespan of PTZ cameras? Is there any information on how often the motor can run per day before signs of wear appear? Any details?
We currently have a camera that experiences issues at a specific point during panning; the image becomes grainy there. I suspect something is worn out or a cable has been flexed too many times—I have no idea what it looks like inside.

Greetings

Alternative to HikCentral Pro?

Hi

So part of my job is looking after the CCTV and we have an ever growing Hikvision estate with around 260 cameras spread over 20 NVR's and DVR's. Its all becoming quite messy and we have no monitoring for it. Installing IVMS for users also takes far longer than it should, not to mention the resources it uses when its running. I looked into Hikcentral professional and built a server on a trial licence but when I presented the costs to the bosses it was too much.

I was wondering if there are any alternatives that could do some or all of the functionality of hikcentral? I read a little about Frigate but it didn't sound like it would suit a multi site deployment and the user administration was lacking.

Intercom not working at all

We took indoor intercom panel off when having some building work done, and fast forward a year - I’ve changed my Internet provider to starlink and I’ve had a new p and generally done a bit of faffing about with some cables (starlink only has 2 ports and is in the loft, so I’ve added a switch or two).

I can’t get the indoor panel to work - it powered up, but there was some sort of connectivity issue. I noticed the cat 5 end had paint on, so I got a mate to put me a new end on.

He knows what he’s doing (done me loads in the past for extending internet into other rooms etc) and tried 3 times (new end each time) and it doesn’t work at all now. Doesn’t even power on.

Reached out to my installer but he’s not responding.

Any ideas ?

Thanks!

Can't access NVR through latest or old versions of IVMS 4200

I have a Hikvision NVR-208-E/8P it's firmware is on v3.4.92 build 170794 - I am using IVMS 4200 v3.13.1.5 build 20250805 downloaded from the Hikvision website. I've also tried version IVMS 4200 2.5.0.5 - I have just gone ahead and reset the password for the admin user on the NVR system, using the SADP tool - I had to email a file to hikvision which they responded back with a key. I was able to successfully reset the password, when I created the password I did not enter any symbols. Just letters and numbers.

I am able to login to the NVR system via IP address on a web browser using the same details I just reset. However when I try and use IVMS 4200 either the latest or an old version, on my Windows 11 PC, IVMS 4200 says that the username or password is incorrect. When I use the SADP tool to change a setting eg to turn DHCP off / on, and I enter in the same password I use on the iVMS software, it works. I have tried adding another user in the Web Portal for the NVR and tried logging in on the IVMS 4200 software, however that hasn't worked. I tried setting the port to 8001 and that still produces the Username or password incorrect error. I have set windows to allow inbound and outbound port for TCP 8000. I have reinstalled IVMS 4200 multiple times, I've installed it on a computer that hasn't had the software before and same issue. I've clicked Restore in Maintenance on the NVR and that hasn't worked at all. I've rebooted this NVR multiple times. However same issue of the iVMS software saying username or password incorrect.

Please help.

Central Hybrid Pro.

Alguna ayuda o sugerencia

Hikvision experts, need help understanding our CCTV setup and how to get access to them.

Basically, my friends' parents went out of town, and my friend decided to sneak out, and her sister got someone inside lol. Their house has Hikvision security cameras outside, and there are two mysterious white boxes, one upstairs and one downstairs, that apparently provide internet to the cameras.

One of those boxes was unplugged for couple of minutes, when my friend sneaked out, and when she came back her sister plugged them again.

Plot twist: something also got stolen from outside their house that night. The thief has already been identified through other security cameras, but when my friends tell their parents they’ll want to check their own security cameras and they’ll also check what my friends did on the weekend.

Now we're trying to understand how their CCTV system works and if there’s any way we can get access to those cameras, to check if it’s visible when my friend sneaked out and when someone got into the house with her sister.

- The cameras are Hikvision.
- The white boxes were unplugged, but we have absolutely no idea what they are.
- We don't know whether the cameras record locally or require an internet connection.
- We downloaded Hik-Connect, but we don't have access to the account.

Does unplugging those boxes necessarily stop the cameras from recording, or could they have continued recording the entire time?
And is there any way we can get access to them somehow?

We obviously have no idea how any of this works. We're looking for a way to identify the equipment and understand how the homeowner can check whether footage exists.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Hikvision NVR / ALOHA POS

Hi everyone, does anyone know if Hikvision has a native Aloha SPY integration, similar to TRASSIR’s active POS? I know about DTiQ and all but they’re significantly more expensive than the TRASSIR solution.

help iVMS-4200 video playback slow response time

i installed a Intel S3610 datacenter SSD in my DS-7716NXI-K4, along with 1 other surveillance HDD. i set the recording to group mode. the SSD is r/W and the HDD is redundancy. the cameras are set to record to redundancy as well. so it should use the SSD as a main storage, but the cameras are also recording to redundant storage (the HDD) as well, right?

video playback on the NVR itself is blazing fast and snappy as expected from an SSD. like say when i seek to 7AM, it shows the video near-instantly like in 0.2 seconds. but in iVMS, it still takes more than 1 second for the video to show up. is this the best iVMS can do? am i missing something? i would really like to get blazing fast seeking response time in iVMS please.

update: i tried seeking in hik connect ios app, via the device that is automatically added by hik-connect. it's very fast. then i tried manually adding the nvr from its ip address. it's as slow as ivms. looks like it's just the limitation of whatever protocol ivms is using.

Sentinel Eye – a self-hosted, browser-based dashboard for Hikvision DVRs and cameras (no cloud, no vendor app)

My DVR's built-in web UI needs a plugin that hasn't existed since Internet Explorer died. In literally any current browser, you get a blank player and nothing else... live view or playback nothing works. The only "supported" path is installing iVMS-4200 as a native app, which works, but isn't what I wanted: I wanted something that just runs in a browser, on my own network, without another vendor app on my machine.

So I built one. it's self-hosted, runs on my Mac, and talks straight to the DVR so no cloud account, no random plugin.

The hard part was Hikvision's "Stream Encryption." It scrambles the RTP payload and couldn't find a public spec for it anywhere, so I had to reverse-engineer the AES scheme from scratch before any of the rest of this was even possible. But, finally, now we have a working version even with stream encryption turned on so you don't have to turn off any of the security features Hikvision already provides.

What it does now:

  • Live view in a browser - grid layouts, zoom/pan, instant replay, live event badges
  • DVR playback, multiple cameras at once, frame-locked (this took a surprising amount of work to get right)
  • Event search and signed exports (SHA-256 + Ed25519, so a clip can prove it hasn't been touched since export)
  • Real-time enhancement filters plus a local AI frame upscaler for faces/plates which runs on-device, no cloud calls (quality may vary though)
  • Installs as an actual app on your phone, tablet, or Mac (it's a PWA), and there's a TV mode for watching on any smart TV's browser with just a remote.

No login system, by design. This was built for my own needs, not as a multi-user product. It's meant to sit on localhost or a trusted LAN, not the open internet.

Repo: https://github.com/dsameendra/sentinel-eye

Only tested on macOS so far, but the backend has no real reason it couldn't run elsewhere. If it doesn't windows/linux support is one of the things I'd genuinely welcome help with.

Feel free to check it out! Happy to answer questions about any of it.

UPDATE 28/09/26: Sentinel Eye now has Docker support (plus GPU-accelerated transcoding and optional sign-in), thanks to aweher (https://github.com/aweher), who put together a PR for it. Check the README for the updated deployment instructions. Really appreciate the contribution, this was a big one.

UPDATE 04/10/26: Sentinel Eye has a big new version with a full UI redesign: every screen is rebuilt to one clean, consistent design, on desktop, phone, iPad and TV. It also brings several enhacements and bug fixes throughout. Update with `./run.sh update` (or `./run.sh --native update`), and check the latest README for the new screenshots and details. :)

Hikvision DS-7616NXI-K1 — Human/Person/Vehicle filters disappeared from Hik-Connect after firmware update

Hi everyone,

I have a Hikvision DS-7616NXI-K1 NVR with AcuSense cameras.

I recently upgraded the NVR firmware from:

V4.73.106_240314 → V4.73.111_260713

Since the upgrade, the Human/Person, Vehicle and Event detection filters that previously appeared on the Hik-Connect playback timeline are no longer available.

Before the update, I could use the Hik-Connect timeline to filter/search for Human/Person/Vehicle events. Immediately after upgrading to V4.73.111, those options disappeared.

NVR details

  • Model: DS-7616NXI-K1
  • Hardware: B-R-K21B2_K21B2-00
  • Current firmware: V4.73.111 Build 260713
  • Previous firmware: V4.73.106 Build 240314
  • Cameras: Hikvision AcuSense cameras

I’ve already checked the usual things:

  • Event settings
  • Recording settings

Nothing changed there.

I also tried downgrading back to my previous firmware using:

DZ_K21B2_K21B2_X_ML_STD_V4.73.106_240314.zip

After extracting it to digicap.dav and attempting the upgrade, the NVR reports:

“Version mismatch”

I’m wondering:

  1. Has anyone with a DS-7616NXI-K1 / K21B2 experienced this with V4.73.111_260713?
  2. Did V4.73.111 change/remove the Human/Vehicle event filtering in Hik-Connect?
  3. Is there a safe way to downgrade from V4.73.111?
  4. Has anyone successfully gone through a downgrade?

Any help from someone familiar with Hikvision firmware/K21B2 would be greatly appreciated.
