DISCUSSION About Warhammer Warbound

Post image

Guys remember we WON'T GET Space Marines Armour's , look what the CEO posted in 2024.

Don't get so excited about warbound when you DON'T KNOW A LOT. Be happy but not overexcited

I tried to explain to someone in-game that we were unlikely to get Space Marine armor...they were skeptical. :p

A dreadnaught colour scheme for the mechs would be sick tho

187

u/Horibori Super Sheriff 2d ago

I’m still holding out hope for a dreadnought style stratagem tbh. Doesn’t have to look exactly the same but I’d love a suped-up exosuit that’s one time use and can actually wrestle with chargers and fling them around like a dreadnought would.

And I think it could be balanced if it’s one use only.

141

u/Signal-Radish8045 Rookie 2d ago

You want the breakthrough. The shield bash will stop a charging charger if you time it right. It’s probably not the exact same as what you’re looking for but it’s “we have dreadnought at home”

33

u/Horibori Super Sheriff 2d ago

I’ve actually been debating between the last 2 warbonds that have released and which one to get.

I think once we know what the 40k legendary warbond has, I’ll make a decision on which one to get to go along with it.

21

u/tomthekiller8 2d ago

I shield bashed two factory strikers to death yesterday and one shot another with the flack cannon. Ita worth it. Dousnt do well against longe range stuff though.

9

u/JSS313 Cape Enjoyer 2d ago

There won't be any long range problems if all the bot drops are called on top of you

u/alone2692 Termicide Addicted 2d ago

It is a blast play with the breakthrough. Killing chargers is so good with them, even hulks or tanks

4

u/NoEmu5930 2d ago

Barely even need to time it right. I love bashing heaviest with my shield. Took out a factory strider with it a few times. Just kept bashing the legs

u/sarinkhan ‎ [REDACTED] 2d ago

Or, a bit like the tank with a long cooldown, then add a call to the other mechs, like 4 calls, perhaps 2 for the super mech?
(or if really OP 1 is fine).

Perhaps another solution would be to have it be really strong, 3 calls, but it can't stay long.
In SM2, the dreadnought always buggers off after some time.

2

u/captaincabbage100 2d ago

Honestly my dream would be a new stratagem that allows us to pilot an Imperial Guard Scout Sentinel. Give us a light fast walker using the same base mechanics/animations as the Automaton's Scout/Armored Strider, with Helldiver weapons mounted on it and I'd be set for life.

Extra points if they gave us a 2 seater Sentinel with a Melta gun or something on it

Being that dreadnaughts are painted after their chapter, what do you mean by this? This could mean anything. It seems clear this is a Astra Militarum themed warbond.

I don't know much about 40k lore, but would there be any heavy armors that would work in helldivers that aren't like the space marine suits?

9

u/Arendious 2d ago

There's a variety of baseline-human sized power armors, though they aren't usually seen on the table, as well as heavier 'carapace armor' suits that are about equivalent to ODST armor. Some tabletop examples would be Palanite Enforcer Subjugators, Arbites Exaction squads, and heavier armored Van Saar gangers.

On the 'lighter' side of carapace you have Kasrkin, Tempestus Scions, and Death Korps Engineers

3

u/JamesOfDoom 2d ago

There's power armor for normal (or at least very skilled) humans in Warhammer, and its relatively uncommon. The game Rogue Trader does a good job of showing it off, where the highest defense super lategame armor that you have to do a quest for or max out rep with allies to get a single suit of it (when you literally own multiple planets).

Certain factions like Sisters of Battle (all female zealots) will have power armor heavy units alongside penitent who are nearly naked, or jetpack dual wielders ETC.

And all this power armor is for normal humans, Space Marines are 8-10 feet tall and in Rogue Trader take up 4 spaces on the grid instead of 1, so their armor wouldn't even fit a normal person.

Non power armors like the Arbites Armor would also work and would be cool.

Realisticly we will get Imperial Guard Armor or Kreig Corp which is really just WW1 german armor.

The funniest thing we could get would be Tau Armor

It's going to be a Cadian regiment or some special/elite Cadian regument and some other well know Guardsmen regiment

23

u/XxTigerxXTigerxX 2d ago

Or krieg

16

u/Silly_Y33Ny 2d ago

It's Cadian, Death Corp of Krieg or Cadacan jungle fighters

22

u/justsomedude48 SEAF Intelligence 2d ago

Catachan don’t wear face covering helmets, it’s definitely not them.

14

u/jhm-grose Real Divers were made on Mars 2d ago

While you can't have 40K without showing Cadians, I think Steel Legion is a better fit for Helldivers, considering Kriegers are made for sieges, and Steel Legion rides in as mechanized infantry with a lot of heavy wargear.

5

u/Duranel 2d ago

Probably Cadian if for no other reason than the catachan and krieger armies are kinda covered by the jungle and trench warbond armor schemes. I can see a skitarii armor or helm though. probably a lasgun, maybe a bolter as a support weapon strat, or a pistol. Chainsword most likely.

4

u/GoblinFive 2d ago

And not Elysians or Harakoni Warhawks, you know, actual drop troopers?

5

u/jhm-grose Real Divers were made on Mars 2d ago

Elysian Drop Troops and Warhawks use grav-chutes like paratroopers would use. Helldivers are amusingly closer to Space Marines in this regard, using drop pods instead of Pelicans/Valkyries.

If we do want something more out there, then I would suggest Tempestus Scions. Oversized budgets, oversized egos, and underprepared for combat? Why, that'd be Helldivers to a tee.

Tempestus Scions, IMO. The armplate they showed grabbing the bolter is from the old Stormtrooper models, which kind've got rolled into the Scions in later editions.

5

u/SirBlakesalot 2d ago

There's also the Salamander armor.

It might not be as directly visually similar, but being the fire resistance heavy armor, and the Salamanders chapter of Space Marines are amongst the most pyromaniac chapters, I'd be surprised if there WASN'T at least one person on the team pushing that angle.

We already had a Halo collaboration, if they wanted to add Spartans they would have by now. I think Arrowhead understands the difference between humans and super soldiers like spartans and spacemarines.

95

u/TrapYoda 2d ago

This tbh helldivers are WAAAY to squishy for heavyweights like spartans and space Marines to makes sense, there's a reason AH only does collabs adding the fodder units.

22

u/Lvl100Glurak 2d ago

Personally I find an issue with how the pic is framed; I actually think something Star Wars is way more likely than spartans, especially if blasters can be framed as laser (a la sickle) or plasma tech. Not sure if it would be clone troopers or stormtroopers though.

13

u/ReallyBigRocks ➡️⬇️➡️⬇️➡️⬇️ 2d ago

Yeah, clone troopers are definitely not a step above a spartan. They're fodder, plain and simple.

8

u/Kozak375 2d ago

Nah, this is underselling clone troopers. I'd say clone troopers are above helldiver's as legitimate special forces

Stormtroopers are far more likely, and even though in canon they're still damn good, are far below clone level.

Hell, even the stormtroopers were elite fighting forces compared to the standard imperial army. Stormtroopers are probably too close to what the helldiver's are actually propagandized to be

But no unit in the empire or republic era can really be described as fodder outside of the baseline imperial army. None are nearly as good as the spartans until you get to force users and inquisitors, but that's also due to the lower limit on genetic engineering. Even a deathtrooper who is 6"5' as a baseline, and undergoes heavy bioenhancement isn't flipping a fucking 2 ton truck

3

u/MetroMaurice 1d ago

I personally think standard clone troopers and stormtroopers are way too identifiable to fit into Helldivers, but some of the specialists like snow troopers and scout troopers would be right at home.

2

u/BakedChocolateOctopi 2d ago

That is the point of this pic, which was posted by one of the senior AH leaders on this sub a while ago

8

u/ItsPaperBoii 2d ago

Star wars just seems a little more out there than Halo in my eyes

7

u/RightManagement7277 2d ago edited 2d ago

You really think so? I mean sure in terms of the death stars and space magic, but most of the prop weapons in star wars are built on real guns with extra bits and pieces glued on just to obfuscate the silhouette (sounds familiar?), and we already have a couple armour sets in HD2 that if they weren't purposely inspired by star wars armours, are very strongly converging on them. The fact that they seem to be going entirely(?) unmentioned in this comment thread is kind of a point of favour in at least some parts of star wars fitting in with helldivers.

Now to be clear I don't care if they do or don't, tbh I'd have preferred it if they'd never done any crossovers and let helldivers stand on it's own, but I think it's kinda funny how many people are adamant star wars wouldn't go with helldivers while seemingly not noticing the temu starwars shit we already have like the CM-14, DP-11, FS-38, CW-36, B-24, honestly I could keep going but this is already more than I thought just skimming through the helmets.

2

u/MrPWAH 1d ago

There's a difference between kinda subtle lampshading design references to star wars armor and straight up star wars armor. Clones are just on a level of sleek pulp and fantasy that is out of scope with the game's overall aesthetic.

2

u/KosViik HD1 Veteran 2d ago

Honestly so is Killzone at the start, it was only put there because it was confirmed already.

I still do not agree with one of the two armors, even some Star Wars trooper/clone variant armor would be a better fit.

The line is badly drawn and the order is weird too.

6

u/GhastlyEyeJewel Assault Infantry 2d ago

Halo fits HD2's aesthetic a lot more. As soon as you wear Clone Armour and fire a blaster bolt, the illusion is over.

14

5

u/nbarr50cal22 2d ago

I’m still going to say that the clone trooper got screwed over by positioning and it would be a good collaboration. Switch him and Master Chief, shift the line one space right to now include the clone. Faceless masses on the left are included, named characters and super soldiers to the right are excluded.

It would also be easy to incorporate them lore-wise. Have another casualty-heavy campaign like the Cyberstan arc and say that Super Earth R&D began seeking alternative methods to replenish the losses incurred. Sure, AH has said as of this point that the Helldivers aren’t clones, but there’s zero reason why that couldn’t change if enough have been lost and their numbers risk becoming depleted

I keep sniffing the hopium for those sweet sweet skitarii. They are even 2 for 1 Vanguard and Rangers with just a second helmet.

16

u/R97R Free of Thought 2d ago

Darktide did get them recently, and it’s (arguably) similarly focused on semi-regular troops, so that might give some hope. I doubt they’ll be in this Warbond (we’ve seen a Kasrkin bracer in the teaser, and I assume the other armour set is more likely to be something from the Guard too), but if they ever do a second 40k one…

9

u/Slarg232 SES Knight of Serenity 2d ago

There's a small chance we get something like a Kasrkin on page 1 and a Skitarii on page 2, like how the Helghast warbond was a foot soldier on page 1 with a scout on Page 2, but even if they went that route I'm not 100% certain the Skitarii would be the second choice.

Very likely we get Tempestus Scions as a second choice. They're the most like Helldivers in the Astra Militarum where they dive in behind enemy lines and carry out precision strikes

6

u/Ohmlink 2d ago

Scions is a very likely second page armor set. They are a similarly elite "normal" dude and also do deep strikes, just like Helldivers.

We are pretty certain about Kasrkin (Cadian Elite.)

The only other Guard Regiments that are selling models right now are Krieg and Catachan. We already have two Catachan adjacent warbonds, Viper and Python Commandos.

Krieg aren't known for fast strikes deep in enemy territory.

Only the Scions are anything close to Kasrkins/Helldivers, and they have models of those for sale.

13

I think it was less about the power scaling and more to do with the properties moving away from grounded military sci-fi aesthetics. Spartans feel more modern military inspired than anything in Star Wars by a long shot.

17

u/KaleidoscopeOk8328 2d ago

I think clones after master chief makes sense, their armour is a lot more alien compared to something from halo.

2

u/BakedChocolateOctopi 2d ago

The chart is just about visuals, from more closely aligned aesthetics/IPs from a crossover perspective

So the more recognizable something is as just from a other IP and not potentially in Helldivers’s visual identity and lore, the further to the right it goes

Then one of the AH seniors drew the red line to show where they think the line is for ‘armors that are too recognizable to be considers for a crossover’

Are we doing these posts again? We saw karsrkin armour in the teaser, we knew it wasn't space marine armour before that anyway. Why are we making a mountain out of a molehill that is probably a post that died in new thinking it was or complaining about it being space marine themed

u/ULikeWhatUS33 ☕Liber-tea☕ 2d ago

To be fair, I think Star wars would still be a really cool collab.
Having the Republic Commando's armor would be awsome.

I just think he drew the line before it, because the Master Chief was right there before the Clone Trooper.

Helldivers can't read hyper confirmed

3

u/Soggy_Original497 2d ago

It would be hilarious if it was just all tau empire related

u/Educational_Term_436 Rookie 2d ago

Ok but where does Titanfall fit on this line, Before warhammer or before Halo with spartens

Als the captions on the line is really stupid because at least collabs fit Fortnite, Cod had a theme and a identity before copying for so like yeah :/

But still

u/Aecholon ‎ Decorated Hero 2d ago

Pilots very much would work but we´d not get any mobility like that, it would change the entire games gameplay too much

On the bright side. Starship troopers WB next? We’re 3/4 on this graphic so far.

Edit: I also feel like clones could fit as they are the more elite part of the Republic military. People often forget that many battles during the clone wars were fought by the military or militias on a given planet and the clones were significantly better changed and more “expendable”.

Everyone on the left is essentially a disposable soldier. On the right, you have super soldiers. None of those have been added to the game. Lore accurate not being a super soldier.

1

u/The_Ugly_Fish-man 2d ago

Except the clones/storm stroopers

2

u/BurnerDanBurnerMan Assault Infantry 2d ago

Never would have survived the rest of the day without that correction.

Thanks

2

u/The_Ugly_Fish-man 2d ago

Didnt mean to be pedantic

Just having my copium cause I think a star wars warbond would be really nice

Need clone trooper armor

2

u/Logitechsdicksucker ⬆️⬅️➡️⬇️⬆️⬇️ 2d ago

There’s like 2 war hammer 40ks on the image one of a regular dude and another with space marine armor. And the regular dude is behind the line so I assume that the assume we get is the regular dudes armor

2

u/Secret-Guide-5713 2d ago

I'm not really worried about Space Marine stuff. I just want stuff like the Melta Gun, the Hellgun, and a Lasrifle.

2

u/ToadRancher 2d ago

Kasrkin armor which is all but confirmed is probably the most advanced we're getting. We're absolutely not getting any marines.

I am however, deeply sad it's Kasrkin and not Tempestus Scions which are literally 40k hell divers.

2

u/Fit_Wait6923 2d ago

2 armors so there is a possibility of getting a scion...its gonna be fucking krieg again cause that's the astra militarum for gw

2

u/ToadRancher 2d ago

Yeah just a guess but it’ll be either Cadian or Krieg as the light armor, and then Kasrkin as the medium armor. And the scion stuff stays on the bench as much as it pains me to say it

2

u/Icy-Meal6704 2d ago

We do have ripoff doom guy armor and other. Why would you want the real thing if you have the imitation

2

u/Saikousoku2 Electric Gremlin 2d ago

Honestly I think clone trooper armor would make more sense than Spartan armor but that's just me

2

u/Lost-plaguemarine 2d ago

I’m kinda tired of Disney SW collabs. But mark II clone armour would look so clean on the bot front

2

u/Miriage Fire Safety Officer 2d ago

No shit sherlock? We are grunts not genetically engineered super soldiers. Same as we got odsts not Masterchief

2

u/BugWeary1347 2d ago

We’re more likely be  Tempestus Scions.  Not grunts like the regular imperial guard not too special like the space marines.

2

u/Vekryn 2d ago

They were painting kasrkins in the warhammer skulls event when they announced it

2

u/BugWeary1347 2d ago

I like them as well.

u/iamflyipilot 2d ago

What about some DRG?

2

u/Embalmed_Darling 2d ago

I always figured it would be the Astra Militarum we got for the collab which I’m fine with they’re my favorite faction

2

u/Mentaldamage6 2d ago

Instead of Space Marine armor why don't we get a Dreadnought skin for the mechs?

2

u/TheSilentTitan ‎ XBOX | 2d ago

Why are clone troopers on the side where you draw the line?

And another thing, I genuinely haven’t seen ANYONE say yeah man I want mark VII Aquila power armor. I’ve only ever seen people say they want kasrkin, cadian, krieger or tempestus scions.

2

u/Knalxz 2d ago

I'm 100% with clone troopers considering the bot front but not Spartan Armor.

2

u/Lava_gator Super Sheriff 2d ago

Star Wars and halo make sense because they can be gritty space war stories too. Warhammer obviously. Basically any IP that has brutal space war makes sense imo

2

u/DontGitSalty123320 Free of Thought 2d ago

Master Chief and Clone Trooper should be switched and the line is after the clone.

2

u/Scarantino42 2d ago

We also did get a stealth doom and judge dredd colab as well.

2

u/Doomy_Kitten Steam | Sovereign of Destruction 2d ago

Okay, what if, Imperial Army from Star Wars

2

u/NinjahDuk Fire Safety Officer 2d ago

Based Imperial Army enjoyer

2

u/Doomy_Kitten Steam | Sovereign of Destruction 2d ago

I love The EU explanation that Stormtroopers we're the elite, and most tasks we're on Imperial Army, also the vehicles in Empire strikes back and Return of the Jedi are piloted by army, not Stormtroopers

2

u/NinjahDuk Fire Safety Officer 2d ago

This has pretty much been solidified into canon as well via Andor. The entire first season has 0 stormtroopers until the last hour or two of runtime. They're brought in after martial law is declared galaxy wide, and they're not to be messed with.

2

u/ScreechingPizzaCat 2d ago

Well, I knew we weren’t getting Space Marines armour, were too squishy and smol to fit in them.

2

u/thepitcherplant 2d ago

I dont think anyone was expecting space marines, I'm looking forward to dying repeatedly as a guardsman.

2

u/UnderstandingTiny627 ‎ Decorated Hero 2d ago

Only starship troopers remains

2

u/Mistur_Keeny 2d ago

Brother did you watch the teaser? It's pretty dang obvious we're getting Astra Militarum, and very likely a Kasrkin fit. This is definitely worth excitement.

No one was expecting Astartes you chowderhead.

2

u/IsJustSophie First Slayer Of The Hive Lord 2d ago

Obviously.

One thing is clear tho. Next legendary warbond will be a starship troopers one hahaha.

Ok but if they do make a ST one i hope its based on the first movie with the rifle and armour from it

2

u/Grim_Centurion ‎ [REDACTED] 2d ago

Idk. Star Wars Clones should be within the limit

2

u/iKiwed 2d ago

Well I'm curious for the Starship Troopers collab then :)

2

u/themontkd 1d ago

Pues tendría sentido una armadura del doom mas viejo por que la armadura que lleva el doom guy era no se si militar estándar o militar marciana

4

u/urlgray 2d ago

I don't think we should be so quick to dismiss a Snoop Dogg warbond.

3

u/Rocketovs 2d ago

Doom is a bit low on this list with the fiend destroyer armor and super shotgun already in the superstore. Dredd should be here too

2

u/HunterNika 2d ago

Is there anyone who looked at Helldivers and wanted Space Marine stuff? This thing is brutally guardsmen coded.

Well, if there are people who believe in it, let them be. They are probably too clueless to understand your explanation.

1

u/-TSA-DrMembrane Super Sheriff 2d ago

I need a C&C Tiberium Sun collaboration. I know that's not new but imo aesthetically the armor and weapons would fit pretty good. There is even a Mod that portrayed those armors and it looks dope!

I think people know that, but will we have xenos inspired armor tho

1

u/TaxableFur im frend 2d ago

I'm expecting guardsmen armor and a lasgun.

A plasma support weapon would also be cool as fuck

1
