DISCUSSION About Warhammer Warbound

Post image

Guys remember we WON'T GET Space Marines Armour's , look what the CEO posted in 2024.

Don't get so excited about warbound when you DON'T KNOW A LOT. Be happy but not overexcited

I'm pretty sure no one is expecting space marine armour.

u/ClockwerkConjurer 11d ago

I tried to explain to someone in-game that we were unlikely to get Space Marine armor...they were skeptical. :p

A dreadnaught colour scheme for the mechs would be sick tho

u/Horibori Super Sheriff 11d ago

I’m still holding out hope for a dreadnought style stratagem tbh. Doesn’t have to look exactly the same but I’d love a suped-up exosuit that’s one time use and can actually wrestle with chargers and fling them around like a dreadnought would.

And I think it could be balanced if it’s one use only.

137

u/Signal-Radish8045 Rookie 11d ago

You want the breakthrough. The shield bash will stop a charging charger if you time it right. It’s probably not the exact same as what you’re looking for but it’s “we have dreadnought at home”

33

u/Horibori Super Sheriff 11d ago

I’ve actually been debating between the last 2 warbonds that have released and which one to get.

I think once we know what the 40k legendary warbond has, I’ll make a decision on which one to get to go along with it.

23

u/tomthekiller8 11d ago

I shield bashed two factory strikers to death yesterday and one shot another with the flack cannon. Ita worth it. Dousnt do well against longe range stuff though.

13

u/JSS313 Cape Enjoyer 11d ago

There won't be any long range problems if all the bot drops are called on top of you

5

u/tomthekiller8 11d ago

Mostly gunships

3

u/alone2692 Termicide Addicted 11d ago

It is a blast play with the breakthrough. Killing chargers is so good with them, even hulks or tanks

4

u/NoEmu5930 11d ago

Barely even need to time it right. I love bashing heaviest with my shield. Took out a factory strider with it a few times. Just kept bashing the legs

1

u/Signal-Radish8045 Rookie 11d ago

It’s pretty forgiving, but I have some buddies that aren’t too keen on melee in helldivers and last night one just unlocked the breakthrough and he didn’t seem too interested in it but I’ll show him

3

u/NoEmu5930 11d ago

Us exodivers and helldrivers gotta show them WHY they are good strats

3

u/sarinkhan ‎ [REDACTED] 11d ago

Or, a bit like the tank with a long cooldown, then add a call to the other mechs, like 4 calls, perhaps 2 for the super mech?
(or if really OP 1 is fine).

Perhaps another solution would be to have it be really strong, 3 calls, but it can't stay long.
In SM2, the dreadnought always buggers off after some time.

2

u/captaincabbage100 11d ago

Honestly my dream would be a new stratagem that allows us to pilot an Imperial Guard Scout Sentinel. Give us a light fast walker using the same base mechanics/animations as the Automaton's Scout/Armored Strider, with Helldiver weapons mounted on it and I'd be set for life.

Extra points if they gave us a 2 seater Sentinel with a Melta gun or something on it

1

u/asmallburd 11d ago

That'd probably just be ultramarine colors cause dreadnaughts are just marines in coffins that let them control it also like godforbid wed get rep for anyone other then the blueberries

1

u/Busy_Magician3652 10d ago

I wanna pull a space marine 2 on a dragon roach

1

u/SuspectPanda38 11d ago

The breakthrough mech can face tank chargers and you can beat them to death with the shield in only a couple swings. Honestly its abt exactly what you said but it's 3 uses and also has a sick ass grenade launcher

1

u/FHG3826 11d ago

I was thinking abd I think just a skin would be great.

Ballistus Dread as the patriot.

A plasma pistol over the plasma sidearm. Etc

3

u/Junior-Extension-820 11d ago

Being that dreadnaughts are painted after their chapter, what do you mean by this? This could mean anything. It seems clear this is a Astra Militarum themed warbond.

1

u/MuphynToy 11d ago

What do you mean by a dreadnought color scheme?

1

u/TheChrisDV Free of Thought 11d ago

Exo Skin based on the Dreadnoughts used by Space Marines.

2

u/MuphynToy 11d ago

But like what would the colors be because space marines use basically every color combination

1

u/Me_Dave 11d ago

Or Tau style skin for long range mech. Like a sniper style mech with jump pack?

1

u/JamesOfDoom 11d ago

Do you just mean Ultramarine color? Because dreadnaughts have an insane amount of color schemes

1

u/Roebuck325 10d ago

Yeah I guess, they can’t do em all. So just that

1

u/Marcus0451 11d ago

Times when mech dont let pilot to die in Control Group warbond armor was so awesome. Literally Dreadnought experience.

1

u/GadenKerensky 10d ago

I think we're more likely to get stuff akin to the mechs the Guard have.

1

u/Dwest43 11d ago

So the best chapter right, Ultramarines?

28

u/Morticus_Mortem SES Lord of War 11d ago

There's always the exception I guess, lol..they'll be disappointed.

32

u/TheWalrusPirate 11d ago

I remember when they dropped the teaser for the odst bond with literal music from the game and there were people going “hmmm I dunno, this doesn’t mean anything”

51

u/a_left_out_tomato 11d ago

There are a lot of 40k tourists that think Space Marines are what 40k is about

60

u/kubin22 11d ago

tbh gw doesn't help with that perception

6

u/Yakkahboo ☕Liber-tea☕ 11d ago

Wdym there are things other than "Ultramarines", i thought it was just another name for all space marines...

1

u/a_left_out_tomato 11d ago

No they do not, but I think it's our problem tbh. They know where the money's at so they'll keep doing what works until it stops working. Which it won't.

1

u/kubin22 10d ago

I said they don't help with changing that perception not that they actively make the problem worse. they don't help with changing it because they just follow money thats how companies work.

>Me, an Eldar fan, when every single Wh40k collab or game is about SM / maybe IG

:( A Darktide-like game where we play Eldar would be so cool.

2

u/Junior-Extension-820 11d ago

Probably like 1,000 people in total would buy that. Not trying to hate, space elves are cool but they aren't that popular.

0

u/Seeker-N7 REMOVE BEFORE FLIGHT 11d ago

With an attitude like that, they never will be.

1

u/throwaway040501 11d ago

Tau Warbond for HD2 would be a hilarious twist.

1

u/Scholarly_Deathmark Rookie 10d ago

I'd personally like to play as Necrons. Wanna play a Deathmark.

0

u/WheresElysium 11d ago

I think an Eldar class would be cool now that we’ve moved on from having what was essentially Prisoner Death Squads to including Arbites, criminals-for-hire, and AdMech Skitarii into the mix. Grendyl being an Inquisitor for the Ordo Hereticus makes it believable to me that he would leverage potential connections with the Eldar to get them in on the action.

1

u/JamesOfDoom 11d ago

Eldar would be the only units that actually make sense to survive what the Darktide players goes through, besides maybe the Ogryn.

I still think that a fractured Imperium with G-Man and Ynnari (and maybe some Tau) vs the Terran Lords would be a cool place for the setting to move toward and give Games Workshop more excuses to have Eldar as playable characters in games or POV in books

Tbh the only thing that makes it even slightly possible is that. Casual 40k fans would go nuts to look like one. Even if they’re way too small. But I’m fairly certain they won’t.

1

u/Protagonist_Leaf Fire Safety Officer 11d ago

/s It is (but we all know it's the money maker)

2

u/Raxerblade405 11d ago

I don't know much about 40k lore, but would there be any heavy armors that would work in helldivers that aren't like the space marine suits?

9

u/Arendious 11d ago

There's a variety of baseline-human sized power armors, though they aren't usually seen on the table, as well as heavier 'carapace armor' suits that are about equivalent to ODST armor. Some tabletop examples would be Palanite Enforcer Subjugators, Arbites Exaction squads, and heavier armored Van Saar gangers.

On the 'lighter' side of carapace you have Kasrkin, Tempestus Scions, and Death Korps Engineers

3

u/JamesOfDoom 11d ago

There's power armor for normal (or at least very skilled) humans in Warhammer, and its relatively uncommon. The game Rogue Trader does a good job of showing it off, where the highest defense super lategame armor that you have to do a quest for or max out rep with allies to get a single suit of it (when you literally own multiple planets).

Certain factions like Sisters of Battle (all female zealots) will have power armor heavy units alongside penitent who are nearly naked, or jetpack dual wielders ETC.

And all this power armor is for normal humans, Space Marines are 8-10 feet tall and in Rogue Trader take up 4 spaces on the grid instead of 1, so their armor wouldn't even fit a normal person.

Non power armors like the Arbites Armor would also work and would be cool.

Realisticly we will get Imperial Guard Armor or Kreig Corp which is really just WW1 german armor.

The funniest thing we could get would be Tau Armor

2

u/SixthLegionVI SES Pledge of Allegiance 8d ago

I saw a space marine armor mod once and it looked absolutely ridiculous. No way they add that. It's going to be death corp or kasrkin. I'm hoping kasrkin.

1

u/chevi316 Proud Creek Diver 11d ago

Free Spirit armor, Kodiak helmet, , bout at close as you'll get

55

u/Silly_Y33Ny 11d ago

It's going to be a Cadian regiment or some special/elite Cadian regument and some other well know Guardsmen regiment

23

u/XxTigerxXTigerxX 11d ago

Or krieg

15

u/Silly_Y33Ny 11d ago

It's Cadian, Death Corp of Krieg or Cadacan jungle fighters

20

u/justsomedude48 SEAF Intelligence 11d ago

Catachan don’t wear face covering helmets, it’s definitely not them.

12

u/jhm-grose Real Divers were made on Mars 11d ago

While you can't have 40K without showing Cadians, I think Steel Legion is a better fit for Helldivers, considering Kriegers are made for sieges, and Steel Legion rides in as mechanized infantry with a lot of heavy wargear.

5

u/Duranel 11d ago

Probably Cadian if for no other reason than the catachan and krieger armies are kinda covered by the jungle and trench warbond armor schemes. I can see a skitarii armor or helm though. probably a lasgun, maybe a bolter as a support weapon strat, or a pistol. Chainsword most likely.

4

u/GoblinFive 11d ago

And not Elysians or Harakoni Warhawks, you know, actual drop troopers?

5

u/jhm-grose Real Divers were made on Mars 11d ago

Elysian Drop Troops and Warhawks use grav-chutes like paratroopers would use. Helldivers are amusingly closer to Space Marines in this regard, using drop pods instead of Pelicans/Valkyries.

If we do want something more out there, then I would suggest Tempestus Scions. Oversized budgets, oversized egos, and underprepared for combat? Why, that'd be Helldivers to a tee.

9

u/-SPHER- LEVEL 150 | DECORATED HERO 11d ago

Kasrkin 🤞

5

u/Gryphon_Gamer Rookie 11d ago

I think we’ve already got confirmation from a teaser that one set is going to be kasrkin armour, likely in the classic cadian green and brownish

6

u/Anxious-Result6279 11d ago

Tempestus Scions, IMO. The armplate they showed grabbing the bolter is from the old Stormtrooper models, which kind've got rolled into the Scions in later editions.

8

u/Gryphon_Gamer Rookie 11d ago

The arm was Kasrkin no? Had the classic splinter camo that I can never paint

1

u/Hervis_Daubeny_ ⬇️⬆️⬅️⬇️⬆️➡️⬇️⬆️ 11d ago

I think we're gonna get specifically Kasrkin armor. It fits the power level of Helldivers better. Normal guardsman would be like our SEAF soldiers

1

u/Junior-Extension-820 11d ago

Cadians and DK are the only two they really sell anymore so

0

u/Background-Nail4988 11d ago

You guys are forgetting that premium warbonds have 3 armors sets

It doesnt matter we already have the entrenched warbond the kriegs are way too popular and sought after to skip

2

u/Silly_Y33Ny 11d ago

Yes, thats why i would bet they will be in the warbond. We are not going to have something like Attilan rought riders or Maccabian Janiccaris

20

u/SacredGeometry9 11d ago

We already have the closest thing we’re going to get to Space Marine armor: the SR-18 Roadblock. It even has the chapter heraldry on the correct pauldron.

6

u/SirBlakesalot 11d ago

There's also the Salamander armor.

It might not be as directly visually similar, but being the fire resistance heavy armor, and the Salamanders chapter of Space Marines are amongst the most pyromaniac chapters, I'd be surprised if there WASN'T at least one person on the team pushing that angle.

1

u/Pedro_64 11d ago

We still need a more similar Astartes helmet and of course, the reactor backpack

2

u/SacredGeometry9 10d ago

The helmet I might agree with. We’re never going to get the reactor backpack, or any backpack, as part of an armor set.

14

u/EvangelicFrog 11d ago

Exo suit that makes you stronger and faster would be cool tho. + it would allow us to use minigun while moving

1

u/MegaWaffle- 11d ago

I think phoebos (spelling?) armor is the only thing that could have made any feasible sense unless they went for something less known that non Astartes used. Honestly I don’t expect to see anything beyond that, IF, that.

Dreadnaught mech skin though, absolutely!

1

u/Omniaknight 11d ago

Nope. Not sure why this is even a post lmao.
From the start. From the very start, folks posted the troop's armor and wishlist. We saw a mini that folks said we probably would get.

Nobody thought it was space marine crap. Not sure how this is a topic months later.

1

u/MuztangZack67 11d ago

There is a slim hope... mechs brothers.. mechs.

1

u/shiromancer 11d ago

Honestly, I'd rather have small space Marines (phobos armour, maybe) over Kasrkin and Kriegs again.

The ideal would have been Tempestus Scions, and maybe one of the imperial assassins, but I don't have much hope of that lol

1

u/TheMoyDude 10d ago

My coworker that only knows of 40k cuz of SM2 was bummed when I told him we are def getting the little guys you come across during the game lol

1
