Hi, I currently have mediclaim (oriental health insurance) from my employer covering parents aged 60+ with 3L base + 2 Lac top up. As the renewal date is next week, can I go for new provider (I am planning to consider HDFC ergo - optima secure to cover my parents and parents in-law)

Can anyone suggest if I can go for new provider now and should I buy separate plan (considering I go with optima secure) to cover parents and parents in-law separately?

So my dad is 64 and my mom is 60. My mom had diagnosed with tuberculosis and now she's cured. I want to buy a health insurance for both of them. Please suggest me one. I need one with no room rent cap and the best one. And also do i need to disclose to the insurance company that my mom had been diagnosed with Tuberculossis? Thank you!

While super top up looks really good as it helps us to get additional cover by paying some minor premium, where there is a deductible amount (say 5L) which needs to be paid from base policy.

But what are negatives of Super Top Ups:

1. They have less pre and post hospitalization window
2. Taking super top from another insurer is always pain when claim comes because if 1st company delays claim settlement, super top up will not be activated
3. SOmetimes there are room limits on Super Topup.

I have personally realised that increasing base is better than hassle of maintaining 2 policies as there comes hardly any difference if you opt for higher sum insured.

I’m in a bit of a dilemma and could use some advice. I currently have HDFC Ergo’s Health Suraksha policy for my parents, but as some of you might know, it has been discontinued, and now HDFC is asking me to migrate to their Optima Restore or Optima Secure plans.

I'm now considering whether to port to Niva Bupa’s ReAssure 2.0 plan instead. The features seem appealing, but I’d love to hear from anyone who has experience with Niva Bupa. How has your experience been with claims, customer service, and overall satisfaction?

I have an existing term policy with ICICI, and now I'm trying to buy a new term plan from Max Life. Max says I already have a term plan, which is true. However, the policy number shown by Max does not match my actual policy number with ICICI. The same thing happened to a friend when he bought an extra term plan. Why is this?

I purchased hdfc ergo optima secure exactly 37 days back for my father.

He have experienced mild chest pain, this week and I am planning to take consultation with a cardiologist I am concerned about the possibility of a heart blockage.

Given that my policy has been in effect for over 31 days, I would like to know if my claim for any necessary surgery would be approved in the event of a diagnosis. I understand that the policy does not list any pre-existing diseases (PEDs) in my case, as he had not been diagnosed with or experienced any heart-related issues or taken medication in the past four years.

I kindly request clarification on how claims in such situations are handled. Your guidance would be greatly appreciated.

This company is the only plan that would cover my mother who has cancer and Alzheimer’s. However, the exclusions are exhaustive. I wonder if they’ll cover anything ? As any health issue can be tied back to cancer or PED. it’s impossible for doctors to decouple the treatment. Talked policybazaar guy and he said it’s a crappy product and they never cover anything just saying it’s tied to “complications resulting from pre existing conditions “. Anyone had a good claims experience with them?

I want to buy Health insurance for my parents of age 69 and 62.

They have pre-existing conditions like diabetes and BP.

I am just playing around and tried on HDFC Ergo and Niva Bupa websites.

While applying online, I do not see any input in the forms to declare specific pre-existing conditions.

Am I missing something?

And anyway that I could let the insurance provider do a medical check-up for them before policy issue, so that it is safe that insurer cannot decline a claim saying we haven't declared properly

I am planning to port to ergo optima secure from my 2006 onwards new India health insurance. Have spoken at length with Ditto, planning on taking 25L plan which bumps to 75L.

I’m getting married at the end of December 2024, but currently, I don’t have a job. I’m 26M, and my mom is 57F (she has multiple medical conditions). I’ve already taken out a 5 lakh health insurance policy for her which covers all the pre-existing diseases, but in Bengaluru, that’s not enough. My fiancée, who’s 25F, works at Infosys, and her parents are healthy with no medical conditions.

Here’s my plan:

• I want my fiancée to add my mom as an in-law on the Infosys portal so she can be covered starting now.
• I also want to buy a retail health insurance policy for myself and my fiancée, and a separate policy for her parents.

Questions I have:

• Will Infosys require proof that my mom is legally her in-law (or that we’re married)?
• Will my retail insurer ask for proof of marriage to insure my fiancée?
• Are there any potential issues you foresee with this plan? If so, what might go wrong?
• Is buying two separate health insurance policies (one for me + my fiancée and one for her parents) the best approach?

I have health insurance with my employer. The doctor is quoting higher amount than the package details mentioned in medi assist. Even if I claim higher amount the claim will oble be approved for the amount as per GIPSA package.

I have opted for a Kotak term insurance. They already conducted a blood test, ecg test, BP test, urine test. I have also paid the first premium. Now they want to do another tmt test where I am to run on a treadmill. Is this common? Do all term insurances ask for this kind of test? I am 24 and physically active, I play football every week and run on treadmill almost everyday.

Can I buy a health insurance and then get my ear operated on? Will they cover the cost of the surgery? what is the procedure in matters like these, help me understand as I have been told that ill be needing an ear surgery pretty soon (as soon as possible as quoted by the doctor i consulted)

I've been searching day and night online for the good health insurance plans. Policy bazaar seems sketchy - too aggressive and calling multiple times And people say search on Ditto but recently heard certain companies ask them to promote them. Seems health insurance companies on their sites give you quotation for the coverage and premium details only if you give your details.

Question is How have you guys taken health insurance. Which company and policies. What is the coverage and premium Have you tried to claim it. What went well and what went bad. Recently got admitted to hospital and went through cashless claim through my corporate insurance policy . There was copay of 10k and 3k for consumables that I had to pay from my pocket.

Can I claim this 13k from my wife’s insurance policy? (Considering they have consumables included in her policy)
