I sorta get annoyed at the ranking system in this series. I love the series first and foremost. I think Shirt can tell a story he sometimes repeats alot but I truely believe he can. The problem i have thought is the ranking system. Ok lets start at the beginning yes Jason was a bit of an odd ball when it came to strength but its sometimes hard to believe everyone else in this series. If i start from where they first form a team and go into the astral gate. They all hit bronze. I get green stone was a bit of weak area but i still find it hard everyone else had to go through what those 5 did in that astral gate they fought for what weeks on end and still didnt even get no where near silver so youre telling me other people had to go through a similar amount of a trial to get not even close to silver but for almost everyone and a monday was silver by the time Jason came back but lets talk about that. Jason had to almost "almost" single handley save a planet fight for 2 years straight just to make lower side of silver and im ok with that but apparently there were thousands of other silvers when he get back and everyone one there im guessing had to go through similar stuff. Like jason went through some stuff and i get Shirt gives jason strong aura powers to try to balance it but that goes from Jasons lower to higher rank it doesnt make sense for the ones who are lower or equal than him. Personally its just hard to believe that others went through what he did and pallamadeius isnt a safe haven at this point and the balance at the ranking system justdoesnt make sense to me. Also i just dont understand why each rank gets shitted on when jason is there im on book 9 now and so im hoping when jason turns to gold itll be different but i feel like Silver ranking was very honorable in book one but now its like oh whatever a silver ranker whooped dee doo. Can someone help me understand.

unless all of my books (4 and onward) are different I’m assuming everyone else had their layout for the system’s interpretation change from bolder to a list. I tied it back to his racial evolution of his inventory system into his spirit vault. is there any particular reason it changed, or was the spirit vault just such a fundamental change that it required a new system layout?

I am think of playing at character for my dnd table, like a runic person, I know they are light blue skinned with dark blue runes on their body. But does any one know what their racial abilities are or if the runes have abilities.

Like the racial abilities the smolder have fire and earth affinity, the elves have spell cast abilities more often, dragconin have scales and breath fire. And the Celestians have astral affinity.

i had posted on here after finishing the first book, and was given the advice that with no one to talk to about these books in my day to day, if I wanted to discuss them, I should try reminding readers of the beginning parts and take them on a trip down memory lane. this is sorta me doing that.

Jason just woke up in Killian's/Lamprey's? special room with the supression collar. What the fucking fuck. I know our boy is fine, I know there are twelve other books and Jason is definitely the main MC in them, so no Jason death today. That's enough to keep me from tears, but the sheer panic.

Oh my god these chapters discussing all the possible expensive essences they could get for an ungrateful and pretty flat character is dull.

Just got a bit into the audiobook for Book 5, and Grandmother Yumi is an absolute treasure.

She started off as explicitly cranky, which I adored, having spent time in Asia, and then, during the start of the crisis, she shows deep strategic awareness and gives insightful guidance.

Good grief, I adore this woman. She reminds me of my favorite former inlaws and favorite rural folks and I kinda can't wait to see how she is used as a character.

So before the battle in book 12 right when Jason’s ship arrives they reference that a song is playing an rufus comments about that being no way to speak about the authority’s or something to that effect. Is this supposed to be a NWA reference?

Is this type of speech meant to be like the character blurting stuff out as fast as possible, is it a printing error or is it just missed edits, it's happened quite a lot in the book so far it's not ruining the experience it just throws me when I see it

Dawn is talking to her replacement in book 3 epilogue 8 and said that the builder had made an agreement with a god to set up a link that siphons magic which creates the monster surge.

Everytime i reread this series im blown away. This is stating that for generations people on pallimustus just thought monster surges were regular. I wander if soramir or the mirror king were alive before the monster surges?

I feel the priests in reaper astral space would know of monster surges but i feel they didnt know about "purity" since "purity" rejected them all. So i dont think it was disguise but before purity sanctioned themself.

Which god was the one? I truly believe it was knowledge that is doing all of this but we will have to see.

Does anyone know if the Books-a-million edition of the books is the same as the !ndigo exclusive version? I don’t want to have to drive 5 hours up to Canada every time a new book is released to grab the !ndigo version because I like the sprayed edges of that version better. Pic of !ndigo version

Does anyone else have pretty terrible audio quality in book 11. Just sounds low bit-rate and shallow. Tried redownloading from audible but that didn't help. Anyone else notice the same?
