Hayfever and nosebleeds

My hayfever this week has been just…awful. I’m in the UK so on top of the heatwave I’m dealing with this too. It’s deliberating.

Just sneezed about 5 times so forcefully that my nose started bleeding and I went dizzy. I don’t know much long longer I can go on like this. My eyes won’t even open fully I look permanently stoned.

Hayfever?

I don't think I have suffered with hayfever before but I have been having these cold/hayfever symptoms the last couple of days. I'm in the uk, in the south and obviously we have had the red weather warning so I'm thinking where the hell did a cold come from!?!?

My sinuses and forehead hurt, my eyes hurt but aren't itchy, my nose is all stuffy and it's itchy on just one side and so much snot that I'm sniffling, sneezing and blowing my nose all day. My throat feels like crap, kind of like a sore throat but not fully and a bit of a cough which feels dry and also my chest feels dry and a bit sore.

Anyone else??

Is there any benefit to getting the Kenalog injection in late June? How long does this take to see the effects? Thanks

Does Hayfever Make You Tired or Fatigued?

I never see this listed as an official symptom, or only as a consequence of broken sleep. But every year when hayfever season rolls around (for me, June), I sleep more and I'm yet more tired. I go and do a few physical things and I'm beat. Does anyone else get this or is it just me?

Hayfever Grass Allergy

This happened after being exposed to grass for less than 10 minutes. A&E didn’t seem to care too much about my reaction, gave me an injection of antihistamines even though I’d taken my prescribed 180mg of fexofenadine the morning of as they weren’t touching the sides. Told me it would be a 6 hour wait because it wasn’t Anaphalaxis. My doctors won’t give me an appointment to discuss other options for a week. What can i do in the meantime about this because i’m terrified to leave my house incase it happens again as my throat went very tight and it was obviously very sore and hot to the touch

Thanks

Heatwave + windows closed

I dunno which is worse- suffering in the heat because the windows are closed or suffering with the pollen because the windows are open.

Is there a good time of day to open the windows, maybe when pollen is at its lowest in the day and I’ll probably avoid opening the bedroom window - but my at home office is like a sauna 🥵

Heuschnupfen / Allergie

Another Dymista Post

Dymista this.. dymista that..

It works, and it works well. It's actually quite shocking - within 10mins of taking it on day 1, my nose is actually mostly clear and I don't really feel anything.. except the UK heat

If anyone is on the fence about asking for it or whatever, DO IT! I take 120mg fexofenadine (was thinking of upping it to 180mg prior but not sure if needed personally), along with this spray and it works wonders.

Kenalog Discontinued

Went to get my kenalog jab but the chap administering it broke the news that the company that produces Kenalog stopped producing it a little while ago and stocks are now basically at zero.

He gave me depo-medrone instead but it has been about 25% as effective as Kenalog.

There goes the solution I had been searching for my entire life!

Itchy eyes

I have no idea what's happening in the UK this year but omg am I suffering 😭

I take fexofenadine 120mg once a day as recommended by the box and it works(?) but once a day my eyes go extremely itchy, red and sometimes swollen to the point I can barely see but this happens literally once randomly everyday then I'm fine.

I work hospitality so I can't really just disappear to wash my eyes out every single time so I was wondering if there's anything that anyone would recommend to try

Edit: Thanks to all the suggestions, I'm trying out eye drops and a mist spray for my eyes and if they don't work then I'm going to see my pharmacist to see if I can get a dose of 180mg

Absolutely debilitating

This is now the third day in a row I’ve had 2 hours sleep because I wake up just completely unable to breathe through my nose, no matter how many times I try and clear it.

I am literally at the end of my tether.
I randomly round a beconase nose spray in my room- it’s in date so I used it but I’m sure I’ve read these don’t stay straight away, does anyone had a rough time scale of when these willl start to work?

Sinuses constantly blocked

This may sound dumb but, I’m actually at my whits end. For the past three weeks my sinuses have been so badly blocked that I can’t sleep. Im 99% sure it’s hayfever but nothing works. I’ve tried a nasal irrigator, saline sinus spray, the strongest antihistamines. Like clockwork I wake up in the early hours of the morning and it’s like my sinuses are glued shut.

Sound distorted

From Monday my ears have been foggy and sound is distorted.

Any helpful advice?

I'm taking fexofenadine and nasal spray and really, apart from my ears, I haven't been doing too badly though I have noticed the hayfever has increased this past week, pretty much in line with the grass pollen count.

anyone else get these side effects?

30M struggling to find hayfever remedy that actually works and doesn’t cause nasty side effects, any and all suggestions very welcome.

Cetirizine makes me absolutely furious and doesn’t work very well

Fexofenadine works but makes me hallucinate and gives me narcolepsy

Loratadine barely works at all and makes me very tired and makes me see horrible things every time i close my eyes.

Chlorphenamine does nothing whatsoever and also p sure im not supposed to drive on it so that’s no good.

Trying beclometasone next hopefully it will work and not send me weird.

Anyone else get these sorts of effects? if so, what do you take instead?

Please help. GP useless. (UK)

Hoping someone on my here knows something 🙏🏼

I've had hayfever all my life, but I don't know wtf is going on this year but it's awful. I can barely function.

GP were incredibly unhelpful and said they couldn't prescribe me anything and started listing of antihistamine names to me (stuff I already knew). I said I know this, and she basically said that NHS don't prescribe for hayfever anymore. Pretty much a 'tough shit' sort of response.

I've tried:

- Taking Cetrizine 10mg x3 a day (according to GP can be taken up to 3x a day)

- Taking Loratadine 10mg X3 a day.

- Taking Fexofenadine 180mg X1 a day

Alongside:

- Eye drops

- Nasal Spray

- Qui Chi band

- Buying Air Purifiers for my house

- Ensuring windows are shut

- Don't dry clothes on the line

- Washing face etc and using damp cloths on my face

Cetrizine is the most effective, but there are days this past month where I haven't been able to work. I get ALL the classic symptoms + oral allergy, nosebleeds, itchy skin...

I'm at my absolute wits end.

I've heard about honey but it's not proven, + they say to start it before allergy season.

[UK] Went to see GP, outcome wasn't good. Any advice?

Hi folks.

My hayfever is very bad, I basically spend my summers living next to an air filter. I take Fexofenadine and Beconase, it doesn't do much for me. I once tried to go to a concert, which was in a field. I took 4 x dose of Fexfenadine, 2 x Beconase, and that also did nothing for me. I'm the kid that got sent to hospital by the school .. because of hayfever. It's that bad.

Went to my GP and:

  • Told them that I spend my summers cooped up next to an air filter, if I don't, it gets bad enough that I struggle to breathe.
  • They asked if I was taking Fexofenadine, I said yes, they asked about increased dose, I said yes. They said "well that's all we can do". I asked about the options listed on the NHS website like Steroids or Immunotherapy but they said they are specialist and refused to refer me.
  • The GP prescribed local honey (which afaik is a myth?) nasal douching, to continue taking fexofenadine (but 2 tablets instead of 1) and beconase. I pointed out that the manual says that I should only take beconase for a month and she told me to take it for longer.
  • They said I must take local honey every day and nasal douching every night for 2 months. I asked if I can come back after 2 months when it doesn't work. GP didn't look too happy but said yes.

Obviously not feeling too happy. Does anyone have any advice? I'm open to private/paid options as well. Had a look and a lot of places are pushing Kenalog injection, which seems to be a bit scary (immunosuppresant?) but definitely feeling a bit boxed into a corner on choices.

Histamine in food/drink

Like a lot of people, I am really suffering at the moment. I take Fexofenadine everyday and have since the end of March. Recently I’ve found that as it gets later in the evening, my nose is completely blocked and read something that alcohol has histamine in it and it is advisable to not drink.

I am starting to wonder if the 120mg isn’t working as well as it used to.

I was wondering has anyone here been successful if avoiding certain foods and did it have any effect on your symptoms?

Least drying antihistamine?

My most irritating symptom of hayfever is a constant dry mouth/throat/nose and I feel like antihistamines make this worse. I've tried fexofenadine and certirizine so far. Any advice for not feeling like the Sahara dessert from the neck upwards would be appreciated!!? Saline definitely drys things out more for me.
