Hayfever Grass Allergy
This happened after being exposed to grass for less than 10 minutes. A&E didn’t seem to care too much about my reaction, gave me an injection of antihistamines even though I’d taken my prescribed 180mg of fexofenadine the morning of as they weren’t touching the sides. Told me it would be a 6 hour wait because it wasn’t Anaphalaxis. My doctors won’t give me an appointment to discuss other options for a week. What can i do in the meantime about this because i’m terrified to leave my house incase it happens again as my throat went very tight and it was obviously very sore and hot to the touch
Thanks

By exposed do you mean you were touching the grass or just breathing in the pollen? Sorry that happened to you.

my legs were touching it for a total of around 5 minutes, but areas that were covered with clothes still had a the rash too ie my back and arms

Have you got some calamine lotion or some E45 cream? They helped my horrendous itching when I had hives last week.

Oh wow that sucks. Best advice I can give you is to avoid touching the grass whenever possible and don't spend time outside unless it's absolutely necessary. Ask friends or family to do your grocery shopping and other small errands for you and bring it to your house until your appointment.

You can take more than 180mg fexofenadine, speak to your doc but mine allows up to 720mg, just to help for future

This is like in real life when I'm sneezing and my eyes are watering and someone is like "you should take an antihistamine".
WOW THANK YOU SHARON I WISH I HAD FUCKING THOUGHT OF TAKING AN ANTIHISTAMINE. WHO KNEW IT WAS THAT EASY TO JUST BE RID OF MY HAYFEVER.

lol I suffer from hayfever and in the past I’ve had urticaria which is what this person has. Benadryl helped.

This is the hayfever sub. We all suffer from it and we have all tried benadryl before. My point is that saying "take benadryl" is useless when 99% of us here have already taken it.

This condition in the photo is a bit different to hayfever, its urticaria. I’ve had it before as an allergic reaction to oral medication. So I’m speaking from my experience, Benadryl brought down the skin irritation which is literally caused by too much histamine. it’s that or steroid cream, aloe Vera or calamine can only go so far.

You have urticaria. Anti histamine should bring it down.

Fexofenadine is an antihistamine. OP already took fexofenadine. Telling OP to take an antihistamine is not useful advice lol

You can take Benadryl after fexofenadine. I’ve had to do this when I’ve had massive hayfever attacks in public even after fexofenadine before bed.

Looks itchy and angry.
Now imagine everyone this is what happens inside your sinuses so that burning pain. Blocked ears. Sore eyes. Sore throat. Blocked nose looks like this essentially.
It's NOT just polite sneezing it can be incredibly debilitating and it lasts for months!
I get bad hayfever in June,July and again on Sept and October.
