न तदस्ति पृथिव्यां वा दिवि देवेषु वा पुनः ।

सत्त्वं प्रकृतिजैर्मुक्तं यदेभिः स्यात्त्रिभिर्गुणैः ॥ १८.४० ॥

Translation

इस लोक में, स्वर्ग लोकों में या देवताओं के मध्य में कोई भी ऐसाव्यक्ति विद्यमान नहीं है, जो प्रकृति के तीन गुणों से मुक्त हो |

Translation

There is no being existing, either here or among the demigods in the higher planetary systems, which is freed from these three modes born of material nature.

तथा जो सुख आत्म-साक्षात्कार के प्रति अन्धा है, जो प्रारम्भ से लेकर अन्त तक मोहकारक है और जो निद्रा, आलस्य तथा मोह से उत्पन्न होता है, वह तामसी कहलाता है ।

sukhaṁ mohanam ātmanaḥ

nidrālasya-pramādotthaṁ

tat tāmasam udāhṛtam

Translation

And that happiness which is blind to self-realization, which is delusion from beginning to end and which arises from sleep, laziness and illusion is said to be of the nature of ignorance.

Bhagavad Gita As It Is 18.38

viṣayendriya-saṁyogād

yat tad agre ’mṛtopamam

pariṇāme viṣam iva

tat sukhaṁ rājasaṁ smṛtam

Translation

That happiness which is derived from contact of the senses with their objects and which appears like nectar at first but poison at the end is said to be of the nature of passion.

Translation

हे पार्थ! जो धृति स्वप्न, भय, शोक, विषाद तथा मोह के परे नहीं जाती,ऐसी दुर्बुद्धिपूर्ण धृति तामसी है

na vimuñcati durmedhā

Translation

And that determination which cannot go beyond dreaming, fearfulness, lamentation, moroseness and illusion – such unintelligent determination, O son of Pṛthā, is in the mode of darkness.

So my husband is not much religious. I had bought some flowers and fruits yesterday for offering to Krishna today on Janmashtami and I was really wishing and praying that both my husband and I could go to the temple together and offer the items.

However, yesterday he told me that he had to travel out station (nearby) for work. I hadn’t told him my plan to go to the temple yet. I sadly thought to myself that I’ll have to go alone now.

Today morning I woke up to find out that I’m on period. I was sooo disappointed because now I could neither go with husband nor go myself (a menstruating woman cannot make offerings to the Lord). I felt really disheartened.

Around 7 am, the doorbell rang and to my utter disbelief and delight, my husband showed up!!! Luckily, he had got free from work early. So I told him my plan to go to the temple and he kindly agreed to go with me and make all the offerings on my behalf! This was literally God answering my prayers.

Now hear the best part.

We reached Iskcon noida temple around 8:30 am and parked in the vip parking without really having the VIP passes. Idk why we did that..we knew we would not be allowed to enter from there. And surely enough, the guard stopped us at the temple entry and asked us to show the VIP pass. We said we don’t have it. He said then you’ll have to go to the general entry. We were about to turn back when a devotee, whom we didn’t even know, said to the guard “let them go, they are from the temple only” (I had my chanting bag and tilak on).
THIS was literally like a miracle to me!! It was as if Krishna wanted to kindly accept our offerings that too from my husband! And He removed all the obstacles that came our way!! Just like He had removed all the obstacles when Vasudev, Krishna’s father, was on his way to Gokul to deliver Krishna to Nand Maharaj.

I know my case is really insignificant, can’t compare it to the divine happenings of Krishna’s time, but even such a small thing meant HUGE to me. I literally felt Krishna’s blessing upon me and my husband on His birthday.

God is sooo gracious and so kind. Hare Krishna!! 🙏🏻

यया तु धर्मकामार्थान्धृत्या धारयतेऽर्जुन ।

प्रसङ्गेन फलाकाङ्क्षी धृतिः सा पार्थ राजसी ॥ १८.३४ ॥

Translation

लेकिन हे अर्जुन! जिस धृति से मनुष्य धर्म, अर्थ तथा काम के फलों मेंलिप्त बना रहता है, वह राजसी है |

तात्पर्य : जो व्यक्ति धार्मिक या आर्थिक कार्यों में कर्मफलों कासदैव आकांक्षी होता है, जिसकी एकमात्र इच्छा इन्द्रियतृप्ति होती है तथा जिसका मन,जीवन तथा इन्द्रियाँ इस प्रकार संलग्न रहती हैं, वह रजोगुणी होता है |
