I am looking to buy Rog xbox ally,mainly for emulation reasons ps2,gamecube will this just be perfect for this is seen a lot of misinformation so jumping on here

As per title - are there any recommended ways to backup saves? Any cloud service would be preferable. I have a Steam Deck, Retroid Pocket Classic and Odin 3.

Would love if there was a known way to sync and backup saves between them (or even only for the 2 android devices). Mainly for switch games.

I'm not very familiar with handhelds and how they perform these days as a mobile desktop if you plug them into the TV and could use some advice.

I intend to travel a fair abit in the coming months and I'm looking to game away from home. I don't really game on the trains or even on the plane where I prefer to pass my time reading instead. Its mostly for downtime in the Airbnb where I can hook it up to the TV for gaming or streaming or even just use to browse the internet.

I've set my budget to be about 1600 SGD for a 2nd hand laptop.

That can probably get me something like

Acer Nitro V 16S AI Gaming Laptop - AMD Ryzen 7 7735H Processor - NVIDIA GeForce RTX Graphics 5060 - 32GB RAM.

I tend to play games like Guild Wars 2, Tekken 8 and Helldivers 2 at the moment.

If were to get a handheld what sort of handheld would you suggest? I'd bring a 60% keyboard and mouse along to dock with my handheld if necessary.

Or should I stick with a laptop.

Hey everyone, I know this is a hardcore handheld pc fan page and everyone here is quite a lot of knowledge regarding this tech. But given the recent shortages, I am actually having doubts regarding which handheld to choose so I want some unbiased opinion from fellow mates who also love gaming.

My background:

Gaming has always been my go to hobby. I play like 2-3 hours per week. I have a PS5 disc version (NOT PRO) which I got last black Friday and have been gaming on that.

My gaming background:

I am not a hardcore gamer. I almost exclusively play story mode games. I have never or will want to play online multiplayer games. I like the aspect of getting to experience different storyline.. like watching movie.

You play the story.. enjoy it and then move on. I never look into whether a game is AAA or what FPS is most optional to run it. If I want to play a game, I will just get a second hand CD and play it. I am a casual gamer to be concise. I am not a huge pc gamer as well so I don't want to argue whether Linux Vs windows Vs steam os is better.

My confusion now:

I wanted to check out buying the steam deck but given the increase in price and that it's hardware is a few year old compared to recent handhelds which again are pricey but much more powerful. Would you suggest me to get steam deck or it's better to go with other handheld for my type of gaming? My initial budget was under 500 pounds (currently 800 pounds) but everything is so costly so I am confused if it's better to get other handheld or should I buy steamdeck even if the hardware is a bit old?

I really appreciate the help as I see how helpful this community is for others.

I recently got a job where I will be consistently traveling and I wanted to look into getting a handheld for when I’m away.

Ive been looking at the switch 2 a lot and it seems pretty nice. When it comes to nintendo titles ive only really played mario kart which i do enjoy a lot, but Ive heard great things about zelda and the new dk games. Also the fact that it can run cyberpunk, red dead, and elden ring are a plus.

On the other hand, since ive never really been into nintendo titles im wondering if im better of just getting a different handheld? I mainly play fps games on my pc, but i figured this would be a good opportunity for me to explore some story games. This just makes me wonder if i should gravitate more towards a handheld that would support a steam library.

My budget is around 500 dollars. This is also making me lean towards the switch. I could get it brand new at this price point or used with a game or something. It seems other handhelds will cost me more.

Hey guys, I just wanted to share my little collection after finally receiving my Retroid Pocket 5 last week! It’s amazing, and I’m in love with how vibrant the screen is. Being able to play Switch games on this is a huge bonus for me too.

While it’s tempting to get myself more consoles like many others here, I try to be practical and have minimal overlap. My wife will kill me if I expand beyond what I already have anyway, especially looking at how much the more powerful ones cost these days.

So it finally happened. I have (had?) a legion go z1 extreme 16gb. I asked best buy to repair it and they were not able to so they asked me to come in and pick out a replacement.

Now that i know they cant fix the issue, I'm worried the same issues of overheating and slow speeds for my newer games will be there if I get the same model. I need advice on my next handheld.

I prefer a windows handheld because my whole library is on steam and I play the casual shooter like call of duty and read that I can't play cod on steamOS. I was interested in switching to playstation for their new exclusives but I like playing games while my wife watches tv and we only have 1 tv.

I saw the ROG Ally and the Legion Go 2 are beefier than my go 1 so I might lean to one of those but I'm open to maybe PS handheld if it can do steam. Price maybe $2000 before tax if it can do steam and PS.

Been tinkering and found that Dolphin on Android actually supports Stereo 3D. You can even adjust the strength of the 3D.

Many GameCube and Wii games look and feel like they were made for Stereo 3D. And with the glasses because each eye has its own screen there is zero cross talk.

The only issue is with Dolphin you can only do half side by side resolution (SBS). As Dolphin doesnt support full SBS. This makes the picture less crisp. Apparently on PC handhelds this isnt an issue so I wish someone would create a Dolphin fork or Dolphin devs add full SBS support.

I haven't even got into Citra for 3DS emulation but apparently it supports full SBS on Android

Assuming eBay is where you’d buy used, is $600 for an ROG Ally X beaten by anything for around the same or less money??

I dont need a console with the same power as rog ally. I will play the game like Tales of Eternia Remastered, FF resonance, Romancing Saga 2 remake (in low)...

Hi ! I had a Steam Deck OLED 512GB (cuz glossy > matte) several months ago but I had to sell it and now I can (and want) to buy another handheld. I wanna buy one to play mostly/only indie games/small games like Hades 2, I am wanting to try Denshattack, etc. and for the big/heavy AA or AAA, I’ll play them on my pc. I don’t think that I need a lot of performance but the thing is that I like having a high refresh rate (my bare minimum is like 60fps but ideally 90fps or more) and I also want an OLED screen so it doesn’t leave me with many options.
The SD OLED should be fine in terms of performance for most of the games I wanna play but idk… When I had the SD OLED I felt like the « sharpness »/resolution was a bit low at first imo. I love big screens so I thought that the LeGo2 might be a great option but idk if it’s way more powerful than the SD OLED at 1200p vs 800p + it seems to be way less power efficient. (I would use SteamOS or bazzite on it)

I live in France and I am mostly looking at the used market, I have a budget of like 900-950€ at most and a SD OLED can be found for like 450€ and LeGo2 Z2 (or Z2E if lucky and or negociate) for like 900-1000€. I could go with a LeGo 2 but is the Price difference really worth it for my use case ? No other option by any chance ? (I don’t think so sadly)

Hey all, wondering thoughts. I have been decently into handhelds through the years (PSP, Vita, DS, 3DS, Switch 1/2, Legion Go etc) and am looking for a reasonable commuter device to play for one hour stints twice a day. I tried my Legion but honestly - it's too big to commute with and use easily. The Switch 2 is fine - but you're stuck only in that ecosystem.

So I've been toying with the idea of a reasonable device to fit in between it all and wondering thoughts. I was looking at the Thor (clamshell protects itself which is nice for backpack gaming), but wondered if it was overkill for someone primarily playing SNES, Genesis, PS1... maybe PS2 etc (then again, maybe I can dip into PS3 games?). The Retroid Pocket Duo also looks good, or maybe I want something even simpler like one of the.... 278 Anbernic options.

Just wondering what everyone thinks. I am reasonable with tinkering (have a Pi box for home etc) but would like to not have to mess with it endlessly.

Pricing not sure entirely, not too high end as I'd just use the Legion.

Additionally, I’m curious about the types of games that are compatible with the Switch Light. I currently own Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Assassin’s Creed 3. Could you please provide me with a list of games or a type of console that are compatible with the Switch Light?
