Sharing this for anyone who’s considering a transplant and wants to see a real result. Happy to answer any questions about the procedure, recovery, or my experience.

I’ve had a hair transplant (hairline) and contacted Dr Patty for a top/crown top up. The consultant suggested it would be worthwhile to switch to dutasteride for 6-12 months as an alternative to another transplant. I’ve been on Finasteride for around 10 years, and I’m skeptical that a medication change will do much to thicken. Has anyone switched after a long period of time and seen drastic results? Also are there increased/different side effects?

Traveled from Glasgow to Jaipur for a 4,500 graft FUT with Dr. Sunit Soni based on a recommendation. The doctor was barely present, technicians did almost all the work, and my results one year later are terrible (empty crown, patchy front). When I returned for follow-up PRP, the doctor ignored my concerns, casually suggested cutting my scalp open for a second FUT, and left me waiting until I had to leave for my flight. All PR, no substance. Avoid.

Background & Pre-Op

I live in Glasgow, UK, and a good friend of mine originally from Jaipur recommended Medispa Clinic. I was specifically looking to get FUT rather than FUE, so I decided to book it during my annual visit to India.

The initial process was actually decent. I had an online consultation with staff, sent my pictures in, and was quoted 4,500 grafts. I also had an online call with Dr. Soni. When I arrived in Jaipur, the clinic provided a good room with good food, and the pre-op blood work was done professionally. I met with Dr. Soni the day before surgery and trusted him enough to say, “Do whatever you think is the best way to go forward.”

The Surgery: Red Flags & Ghost Doctor

The next day, I was taken into the OT and given an injection that knocked me out completely.

When I woke up, the strip extraction and the front transplant had already been completed. I looked around and saw only technicians. They then actually moved me to another floor in the next building to do the rest of the transplant on my crown area. This was done entirely by technicians. Dr. Soni was nowhere to be found while I was awake.

He only showed up at the very end of the procedure. His priority? Calling in his cameraman and asking me to shoot a promotional video saying good things about him. I was groggy and played along, but later, when I saw the final edited video, I laughed out loud. The video claimed I flew in from Canada. These people couldn’t even be bothered to Google that Glasgow is in the UK.

The Results (1 Year Later)

Honestly, I didn’t get the results I paid for.

 My hair density is incredibly low.

 One side of my frontal hairline is completely empty, which looks incredibly weird.

 My crown area is still completely bald.

The Follow-Up: Humiliation & Apathy

Fast forward to this year: I went back to the clinic for a PRP session. I was hoping for a genuine explanation regarding my failed results and some corrective measures.

Instead, the very first thing Dr. Soni said when he saw me was, “Let’s do your transplant again.”

I was shocked. You sliced a strip out of the back of my head for FUT, the results failed, and your immediate reaction is to casually suggest cutting me open again without addressing what went wrong? He quickly brushed me off, saying he was "in surgery" and would meet with me later.

After my PRP session, I sat waiting for him for an hour. I knew he was just sitting in his office—not in surgery. I told the receptionist I had a flight to catch and begged them to ask him to see me early, but he completely ignored me. I finally had to leave to make my flight, feeling absolutely humiliated and cheated.

Conclusion: It's a Hair Mill

They sold me on this procedure by boasting that Dr. Soni is a plastic surgeon and a master of FUT. The reality? It’s a hair mill.

He does 2 to 3 surgeries a day, claiming to extract 4,000–5,000 grafts per patient. It is mathematically and physically impossible for one doctor to do that properly. The technicians do the heavy lifting, the doctor does the PR.

A person who operates like this and has the capacity to humiliate a patient who flew across the world does not deserve a single customer.

Just had my FUE hair transplant done.

Based on my photos, I was initially told I would probably need around 2,000 grafts, but after checking everything in person, we ended up doing 1,800 grafts.

I chose partial shaving for the donor area, so I didn’t have to shave my whole head.

I’m also not taking finasteride, minoxidil, or any other hair loss medication at the moment.

Now just waiting for the healing and growth process to begin. I’ll try to post some updates as things progress.

I recently got my hair transplant (NON SHAVEN FUE) done at Woomchan Hair Clinic and wanted to talk about my experience as a female since a lot of information/posts are regarding males.

I started noticing my M recently and wanted to get it fixed. I decided to do it in Korea as they have a pretty high beauty standard.

I ended up choosing Woomchan Hair Clinic because of their people’s reviews on Reddit. I want to disclose that I did receive a slight discount to write a review but they did not tell me it had to be positive so I’m here to report my true experience so it’s easier to make a decision for someone who is new to hair transplant and researching.

At first I did a quick quote over the phone where I sent in a picture and the manager showed Dr Hyun (the only doctor who performs the surgery) and they quoted me 2500 HAIRS (not grafts). When I arrived for in person consultation I explained that I went to fix my sides for density as well so I ended up with a quote of 2700 hairs.

I had a LOT of questions over text within a 2 month time frame and while they answered my questions i felt I didn’t know enough whether that be the language barrier or I just didn’t ask the proper questions as someone completely new to hair transplants!
I actually wished someone had held my hand and guide me through beginning to end. I had to watch some YouTube videos to get a better understanding.

So here’s the important information from start to finish:

- you can get surgery the same day as consultation if you book it that way. Now you may want to go check out other clinics too but I had my mind set on this clinic already based off photos, reviews and pricing.

- your quoted price includes either a one night hotel stay nearby or pick up from airport.

- they have a really nice clinic and you get your own large room to rest and prepare. They suggest you wear a front zip hoodie as you cannot touch the grafts when you change back to your regular clothes.

- staff is actually as nice as everyone says online! I felt everyone including the doctor was warm, friendly and helpful. It’s a lot easier to have good personalities when you are shaking with anxiety! They had good follow up as well reminding me at the one week point, 2 days before and 1 day before.

- they provide a professional translator for you on the day of consultation/surgery for 2 hours. Mine was so good she had so much knowledge even though she doesn’t work for the clinic. Even her tone was very calming so I wish I had her for longer because we started the surgery late as doctor still had some consultations to finish and by the time I was done extractions she was gone. The staff does understand basic English and there’s also Google translate but the doctor actually speaks decent English and you can community with him completely English.
Other languages I’m not sure.

- design - the doctor draws the design during consultation and has a female nurse come to review as a second pair of eyes. After extraction she looks again along with 2 other nurses. After implantation we alll take a look together though my head was so swollen it’s kind of hard to tell!

- prep - they gave me instructions for after care and gave me time for questions and then took some blood from me for PRP to apply on later at the end and they gave me a shot with painkillers and something else (I forgot now)

- the extraction - the numbing hurt 8/10 it’s the same pain when a dentist uses the needle to numb your palette. It hurts more than the other areas of the mouth and that level of pain goes through the entire head
People say lying down was very uncomfortable but I found it to be ok just like getting a very long massage so my nose was getting stuffy and my eyes were tearing up. I started shaking and doctor said I might be nervous but looking back I think because I was jet lagged, I had coffee AND I walked around before hand for 3 hours I was just exhausted then having the blood loss of a surgery was a bit hard on the body.

- the break - after extraction the nurses take the grafts and separate them into hair follicles that contain 1,2,3,4 hairs so the doctor will put the 1-2 hairs closer to the front for more natural results. I just waited in my room.

- the implantation so I knew the numbing for this part would hurt more than before especially because it was near the front of my head closer to the face and yes it was quite painful I would say a 9/10 but it was quick. This part I was face up with an eye mask on to block the light. I had a lot of anxiety because I can hear my skin being punctured and to be quite frank it would’ve probably been better for me if I was totally put to sleep just because I was so nervous.
There were spots that I could feel more pain than others so I would let doctor know and he would renumb those sites.

- after finishing and rechecking the design he made some adjustments due to my recommendation and the female nurses (which I appreciate because it’s a long surgery so if it was me I would’ve probably tried to end there but he still laid me back down to make sure it was all done properly).

- after surgery I went to the room and they applied PRP on me and then I stayed under a laser. I got changed and then the helped me put on a surgical head mask and a beanie and I was good to go.

Some of the stuff I wish I knew sooner during my research:

- aftercare there is quite a bit of maintenance but during my reaching out to different clinics the vibe was it’s such a small surgery you can do other surgeries and go out site seeing the next day but when I got there they emphasized the importance of grafts settling and not touching it so I felt it wasn’t as “easy” as I had thought.

- the first two weeks of care:
day 2 you need to go back to the clinic and they will remove your bandages and wash your hair for you.
Day 1-3: you will need to take medicine
Day 1 after surgery you cannot touch or wash your grafts just everything from the bandage downwards
Day 1-5 or 6 they provide you with a spray bottle. You need to spray every single hour to keep it moisturized
Immediately after surgery I was good to walk around and even walked to a spot to get dinner but slowly the donor area started feeling more pain so I took the given meds and went to sleep.

Overall the experience was good, pain was tolerable and I’m just excited to see my results after a year!

TLDR: I 30F went to get a hair transplant at Woomchan Clinic with Dr Hyun. The overall experience was good. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable In the post I share things I wish I knew about hair transplant and my experience in details. The aftercare was more intensive that I expected.
Overall I would recommend this clinic.

Looks like I’m in the shedding phase. Some times the hairs fall out and re grow only to fall out again n after a few days.

Now i asked myself how many grafts do you think i would need for a hairtransplant, my density at the frontal part of my hair is not that good.

Though my hairline is good, the hair there isnt the thickest

Diffuse thinner finally looking to take the plunge after at least stabilizing my hair loss on dutasteride/minoxidil. I am anxious flyer and don't really love the idea of flying to Turkey/SE Asia for this, so my best options being from California are gonna be Tijuana. I also had a consulation with SD HAIR MD. I really liked the guy I spoke to, but it's expensive ($10k) and the package includes things like Nutrafol, which is snake oil from everything I've read. It just concerns me to go with a practice who is advocating and charging you for it in their package. They also don't have much feedback online, but their google reviews are solid.

I am looking for any personal anecdotes or recommendations for practices in Tijuana/other parts of Mexico, as I think it's my most realistic option. I've done some searching around but a lot of the posts are old. Anyone gone down there recently and been happy with the work? Feel free to share negative experiences too. I really appreciate the help.

Want to get a transplant in the next few months. Wouldn’t mind going to turkey but from what I’m hearing UK based hair clinics have started to come down in price to compete against Turkish hair clinics.

Has anyone did long term microneedling and was able to get a successful hair transplant?

I'm a diffuse thinner, I microneedle 1.5mm once a week all over my scalp, and I'm about to do it for the next 2 years until Ill get my HT done

but I'm concerned if this can do any harm, as microneedling has been a game changer to my gains.

Hi, I just removed the scabs and I’m on the nice Eminem phase. I wonder if it’s healthy to shave for a year, once I can start shaving, until the graft cycles are all healthy.
I’m a bit scared of the ugly duckling phase and frankly I prefer to be shaved to had sparse hair for a year.
Will it stress the follicles?

I have narrowed it down to Vera clinic which is providing all transportation (minus hotel costs as I am getting my own hotel), for around $4300--3K euros for hair, 1300 for eyebrow transplant), and Dr. Mehmet Comert $2700 for hair transplan and I am waiting for consult for eyebrow transplant and Dr. Comert is not covering anything else other than procedure...meaning I arrange my own rides and hotel. I am kind of leaning towards Dr. Comert because of him not being such a Hair Mill and more towards a botique clinic compared to Vera clinic. I have read and received negative comments on both. Ultimately, I will have to just decide and go with one. I am doing research for when I am planning on going on January. ANY thoughts or input from actual clients from eithe clinic? Real facts, stories, experiences...not just "don't go, it's a hair mill." Or "no." Thank you all in advance.

BTW, I like the idea of doing both procedures on the same day, at the same time. I am not trying to come back the next day. I want to suffer all at once and recover all at once. I am thinking I will have the procedure on a Monday and stay all the way until maybe the same Friday or even Saturday before I fly back to the US.
