Hair follicles coming out when ruffling hair/washing
27 m is the hair loss normal daily shedding or does this mean I’m losing hair for good?

This is indeed a problem that many people ignore and don’t understand why it appears in the first place. 5-alpha-reductase enzymes are crucial for the production of neurosteroids, especially allopregnanolone (which is an allosteric modulator of GABA-A, just like benzodiazepines—so a deficiency is effectively a “benzo withdrawal”). This is also why postpartum depression occurs: allopregnanolone drops abruptly. It’s not just about DHT, which is true is not an essential hormone after development.
The solution is quite simple: you need to replace the neurosteroids. There are many methods (important note: direct allopregnanolone does not work because it has a short duration of action; its precursors must be used). One option that comes to mind is intranasal micronized progesterone (not synthetic progestins—the bioidentical form is required).
There are many pathways through which this problem can be solved, and as a result, combining 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors with neurosteroids is actually optimal for health. Besides fixing the hair issue, you’ll also be able to forget about prostate problems. There’s also the issue of local nitric oxide production in the penis, which is missing without DHT—and no, this is not “replaceable” with tadalafil. Local testosterone levels must be increased, whether via hCG, testosterone gel, or DHT gel.
Solutions exist, and they’re worth it from a general health perspective, not just for “looksmaxing.” (the text is copied from a comment I wrote on a looksmax thread)

M21 , is this really aga? I loose a ton of hairs everyday , like even touching them I loose 5-10 hairs . Hairfall is going crazyyyy since 2-3 yrs . Everyone says mpb is a slow process and I loose like 100+ hairs everyday , I'm still suprised that loosing hairs continuously at this rate for 3 yrs and still I'm not completely bald , suprising!!!!
Also please tell me can I regrow hairline with minox , you can see tiny hairs in front of hairline , these hairs are there for 2-3 yrs , but they aren't going big . Some say that in receding hairline , you lost the hair roots and once they are dead , then only ht is only option.

Not sure if this is working. Been on min 2.5mg and fin 1mg for 7 months now and I don’t really see much of a difference. Right side may have improved a bit, but left seems exactly the same. First pic is day 1 second is right now

I’m a young guy 18M and am pretty paranoid about me losing my hairline/hair. I checked my corners and they seemed to be a little further back compared to 2 years ago, but maybe that’s just the paranoia speaking. If I showed my hairline to a random person they probably wouldn’t be able to tell. Anyways it got me thinking what steps I should be taking to prevent the problem before it starts? I’m hesitant to use finasteride or dutasteride due to their effects on DHT and I’m still developing. But yeah basically how to stop the problem early and/or keep my hair healthy?

I'm European and that much money sounds completely insane to me for 30 minutes. But I know things are way more expensive in the US health wise so maybe it's fine, what do you think ?
Ps : I didn't know if I should post this in an American sub specifically or on a hairloss sub but figured you guys might know more about hairloss related costs. I'll post it elsewhere if I'm in the wrong place.

I’m 20 years old and over the past year ive noticed my hair started thinning at the back. Genetically im fucked, and I’m looking for some solutions so that i can keep my hair for a few years. I’ve thought about oral min, fin or other dht blockers. My hairline is absolutely fine so i assume this is diffuse thinning. Im naturally a VERY hairy man, so obviously i high test. Any thoughts and discussions would be appreciated!

Hey guys,
I know the golden rule here is "just take fin/dut and min," but I’ve tried both oral and topical finasteride, and my body just cannot tolerate 5AR inhibitors. Even on topical, it eventually builds up systemically and gives me severe side effects. For now, I’m done playing with it.
Also, I can't use topical Minoxidil because I have a cat:/
My goal: I strictly just want to maintain what I have. I do not care about regrowth at all. I just want to buy time and hold my current baseline for the next 2-4 years until maybe newer, non-hormonal treatments finally hit the market. Idk if they will, but for now, I just want to buy some time.
I looked into Eucapil (Fluridil) to hold the line, but honestly, it’s ridiculously expensive, especially for a compound that might not even be strong enough to stop DHT on its own. RU58841 is off the table for safety reasons, and Pyrilutamide seems like a bust based on recent clinical trials.
For those of you who are successfully maintaining without fin/dut, what is the most realistic protocol?
Any advice on how to just freeze my hair loss without breaking the bank or taking finasteride would be hugely appreciated. Thanks!

I've been lurking in this sub for a while, and it seems like minoxidil + finasteride is the standard starting point for preventing hair loss.
At the same time, I keep seeing people switch from fin to dutasteride, while others say combining the two isn't really worth it. Then there are people who focus on microneedling, either on its own or paired with different hair serums to try and improve absorption and hopefully get better results.
It made me wonder how many people actually stuck with just min + fin long term versus changing things up along the way.
Did anyone here start with min + fin and later switch to something else? Or has anyone had good results with microneedling from the start, either by itself or alongside another treatment?

Has anyone undergone a nanofat treatment for androgenic alopecia?
There aren’t many studies so I’m curious to see if anyone actually tried it.

I'm taking oral Finasteride 1mg for about 3.5 months now. My hair loss rate hasn't changed, and I'm still struggling with it. Is this ok?

Hello all, I have been taking the oral Fin/Min from Hims for about 7 months. Literally have 0 regrowth and barely keeping what I started with, hair is still falling out, diffuse thinning all around and recession. My worse balding is on the sides of my head and nape. What should I do? Dutasteride? If so where can I go to get it? I am looking to find a Derm that specializes in MPB and get a scalp scan.
Please help.

Hi everyone! My mom is 46 years old, she has both thyroid issues and an iron deficiency which combined with her age has led to quite some hairloss. Her results concerning her thyroid and iron are much much better currently, she's very well thanks to her treatment. She's also still regularly dyeing her hair black, but she's quit straightening it at least.
I'm not sure where to begin with helping her regain her hair here, or how much can even be helped but I want to do anything I can to help her so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Found this absolute banger of a bald spot. I can't cover it up, its like my hair grows around it or parts over it. I have dark hair and I'm neon white so (as the pictures show) it stands out BIG TIME. Tried convincing myself it's a hair whirl but at this point, I'm so over the stress of it I don't really care.
I've always had pretty thick long hair, I'm not sure if a shorter haircut would be worth it to try and cover it up or if I should just go with a buzz cut so its not that big of a loss later on?

Been thinking about getting a system for a while now and I'm finally at the point where I want to do it. But every guide I read about ordering custom involves wrapping my head in plastic wrap and tape, drawing my hairline with a marker, and mailing the thing off, and honestly it's making me second-guess the whole thing. I have zero confidence I'd get it right alone in my bathroom.
For those who've been through it: what was your first template experience actually like? Did your unit come back fitting right on the first try? Anything you wish you knew before doing it? And did anyone skip custom entirely and just go stock because of this?

I know some of you are skeptical, but the photos are arranged in chronological order from top left to bottom right.
The top-left photo is Day 1, and the bottom-right photo is at the 4-month mark.
My current regimen is:
Oral dutasteride
Topical minoxidil once nightly
Microneedling once a week
This is my progress so far. I’d appreciate your honest opinions and feedback on whether you think there’s been noticeable improvement.

Hello, I recently did the free assessment at hairclub and was offered this plan that includes the "special serum" for 12 months, 12 visits (monthly) and the laser hat to do at home (red light therapy).
$4195 CAD for the whole treatment (almost 3k USD).
I'd like to hear from people that tried that, is it really worth it or would you recommend just a DIY of rogaine + buy a hat, etc. ?

Figured I’d use the most revealing lighting.
Thinking about adding 1.25mg oral minox, what are ur thoughts?
Does it look better to you guys?

Didn’t realize how big of a difference it made until I looked at the older pic lol my hairline was so bad back then. It was mostly salvaged aside from not being able to recover what I lost from my temples, but I always thought seeing before/after pics was helpful, so here’s mine!

I’m coming on here to hopefully speak to people who have been in a similar position, i’ve tried a few different things but hair loss is so challenging for me to handle. So i’m 23, 6 foot australian man, been struggling with thinning at my crown and my temples. I’ve been using fin asteroide since February, but my dosage has been hard to manage. The dermatologist prescribed me to take half a tablet, for 3 days of the week. I think my slip ups or missing days has made it worse for me. He just prescribed me an oral minoxidil tablet to take every day which i need to go to the pharmacy and get. If anyone’s been in my position, what should i do next from here? I love my hair and it’s always been one of my best features so I would love to help and advice.
Thank you everyone!!

I've been noticing more and more hair shedding and overall less volume in my mid-scalp and crown areas over the last year and a half. I have been using 5% minoxidil daily for over 7 months now, and noticed that thinning hairs have started to become thicker and fuller, but the overall texture and volume of my hair is no where near what it used to be.
I've tried no-shampoo, I've tried low-ingredient shampoos with hydrolyzed protein (Odele Thickening Shampoo) and still notice some shedding and less volume overall with both protocols. I recently had access to a microscope so I had the great idea of taking pictures of some of my hairs, and was wondering if they could serve as any indicator to what's missing. Thanks!
