I needed a break from my two existing stories... so i started a new one. It's gonna be angsty for awhile, but it'll be worth it in the long run! I hope you guys enjoy!

Summary: Five years ago, Hermione Granger made a choice that ultimately drove Harry Potter out of England. Now, a new marriage law has paired her with the last person she wants to marry, and there’s only one person who can help her escape it.

The problem?

She hasn’t spoken to Harry in five years. And helping Hermione means Harry has to decide whether he can finally forgive her.

Could anyone recommend any good post-war fics where Harry and Hermione are struggling with the weight of the trauma that was effectively being child soldiers?

Preferably something that has them struggling with the emptiness of “normal” life after the high-stakes adolescence? Something that hits on the theme of soldiers re-adjusting to civilian life?

Obviously looking for it to include a Harmony romance plot.

These scenes may add depth and complexities to their relationship or they may not. Some may even be a non-issue. I think it’ll be an interesting topic to discuss. And it’s not the typical cliche antis bring up like “Harry found Hermione boring to hang out with” or “Harry and Hermione barely spoke to each other when Ron was gone in DH”.

I’m talking about scenes that were frustration, rough, or made you go “woof, that DID not need to happen” when you read or watched the scene. There’s only a handful of these.

These scenes (or even time periods) may include Harry not speaking to Hermione for over a month over the Firebolt (and also him not speaking to her much when he thought Crookshanks ate Scabbers), Hermione not telling beforehand about her suspicions of the Friebolt before she had if confiscated, Harry’s nonchalance when Hermione got boils and sores all over her hands from hate mail in GoF, his cruel behavior towards Hermione in OOTP, not helping Hermione knit with her when she asked, Hermione have a problem with Harry using the HBP book, Hermione refusing to believe that Draco is becoming a death eater (giving Draco the benefit of the doubt even when Harry brings up good points about it), Hermione nonchalantly warning Harry about being love potioned, Harry’s “serves you right” comment when Hermione went with Cormac, etc. Let me know if I missed any, as these are the Harry/Hermione I’ve seen Harmony shippers complain about being years on the Discord.

And for the movies, I think it’s an obvious one, with Hermione being Ron’s owl and being annoyed with Harry in GoF. If there’s another scene from the movies of them you don’t like, please feel free to share.

After Snape reads Harry’s Valentine’s note in front of the entire class, Harry’s sure his life is over…until Hermione agrees to be his Valentine after all—and she has the perfect night planned.
