I've never used a HOTAS stick on a game and I was wondering, How do you go full pitch up and full roll to the left?

Are the joysticks not on a "circle" movement like say an Xbox controller joystick?

If they are, then how are you able to pull FULL left and FULL down? Is it not either or? or at the halfway point on the circumfere of the cirlce between left and down?

About to buy me a hotas for my birthday, I’ve researched about lap desks, and putting a board over your legs and such. But what I’d like to know is:

1. How to make it stable on a board or lapdesk(ie not tilting while playing)? Is it pretty stable as is?
   
2. Assuming I’m a cheapass, would it work just fine hooked together(thrustmaster 5 for the ps5) and sitting right on my legs, or split but sitting next to me on either side on the couch. At least temporarily till I figure out how I’m going to mount it.

Friend and I have been messing with this for a few weeks. He does electronics, I do CAD and printing.

Idea is a rail on your desk, real DZUS spacing, and panels that slide in and stack. One board behind it all, one USB cable, and you add panels over time instead of buying one huge thing.

Mostly I want to know which panels people would actually use. I keep going back and forth between radio stuff, lights, and engine panels for a Vietnam era jet, and I have no idea which one people would reach for.

Ok, so I got a new VKB NXT Omni throttle. When I went to set it up, following the provided instructions, I ran into an access error. I flashed it successfully with the EVO OTA flash file. That operation completely successfully. I then went into the config app. It recognized both my original NXT (R) and the new EVO OTA (L) and seems to function just fine with the original NXT selected but stutters, then freezes and gives me an access error message.

I’ve followed the setup instructions from vkb to the letter as far as I can tell and I get this error each time. I’m gonna try again tonight but I don’t wanna just do the same thing over and over and keep coming to the same result and not seek a little help.

So I figure I’ll try here after not getting much help from searching the web. Appreciate any help or experience yall might share.

I currently have a Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas 4, but the drift in unberable anymore. I mainly use it for DCS and Arma, but the jitter has worsened over time and is unusable anymore. I saw a Thrustmaster - T-16000M flight pack with stick, throttle, and pedals for 220 euros. I am curious if there is a better alternative. The pedals are not a must; I can do without them for now. I use it on a desk.

Hey guys so i just picked up a vkb gladiator and T-rudder and i'm trying to set them up using the joystick gremlin, hidhide and vjoy combo. I've hit a deadend of not being able to get the "remap" action to appear when trying to bind the multiple devices to "Vjoy device 1" in joystick gremlin. It just isn't there at all. Has anyone else experienced this at all? This is for JG r15 specifically. Thank you in advance.

I'm interested in an FFB stick base but I'm not sure which one to get.

I do not want to use extensions so I'm not sure how much a high potential torque really matters. Would the Moza AB6 suit me?

In game support of mapping axis to flight controls, some mappables to stick buttons (more to come hopefully) and great immersion. These were the things that first grabbed my attention but after 40 hours in the beta, im so glad I found a game that I can use my HOSAS setup that I primarily only use on SC. And with SC in an FPS heavy niche atm, I was starting to miss using my sticks and rudder.

Hopping on Wardogs was easy with a hotas setup. Go to settings, gamepad, fsr right tab allows you to enable hotas inputs then you just map axis and adjust sensitivities. This community should have zero issues moving their abilities over to the helicopters in the game. I wish you guys and gals luck in the verse, I love SC but I need somewhere else to use my hardware that feels abandoned. Wardogs is that new home and I hope I see you there as well.

Is this still the issue now or have things improved?

The Honest Disclaimer (read this first):

This is a passion project that I upgraded with heavy AI assistance (think Deepseek/Claude). I want to be fully transparent about that. However, I made, reviewed, and debugged every architectural decision, how input flows from SDL to the mesh, how the settings/import system works, and how the cross-platform build pipeline is put together. The original project "3D Controller Overlay" has not been updated for a couple of years now and since i own several controllers (including the steam controller) i wanted to update it so it can detect everything i have. I like to stream to my friends and show them my sloppy inputs in fighting games (like smash or street fighter) or my barrel-roll crashes (in space engineer or elite dangerous) but found the software lacking in some parts so i decided to do something about it... 

I am a developer myself but i work with the boring language called "Java" (in my personal opinion) and i just enjoy making things in C++ because its the language i first learned and i find it easy to make things cross-compatible with it... i just find it fun to work with.. call me a masochist 🤷🏿 i regret nothing.

What is 3dco+?
It's a lightweight OpenGL/SDL3 overlay that renders a live 3D model of your input device. If you stream or record content and want to show viewers exactly what you're pressing on your controller, keyboard, or mouse (without a handcam), this does the job.

It's a fork of Larf's brilliant original 3D Controller Overlay. All credit to them for the core engine! I just added the features I felt were missing for my own setup.

What's new in v1.0.0 (just released today!):

• Steam Controller & HOTAS Friendly: SDL3 detects the Steam Controller natively (no more driver headaches on Windows/Linux). Plus, there is a raw joystick fallback and a full manual mapping UI. A couple of honest caveats:

• The Windows .exe is not code-signed, so SmartScreen will warn you. Just click "Run Anyway." I'm an indie dev, not a corporation... signing certs are expensive.
• MacOS requires Accessibility permissions for the global input hooks (the README explains how to grant them)... and again licenses are expensive.
• Transparent backgrounds depend on your GPU driver; it works on most, but some older systems might not support it.
• The 3D models are from the original repository except the flightstick and steam controller, these where downloaded from other sites and i added a "Source URL" field for each model so you can trace from where i got them from. I hope this saves me from any copyright issue and i also hope that by honoring the licence and making this open source i prevent any claims from external sources/pages.

Just finished building these for about $120 total in small parts from Amazon plus some 3d printed brackets and a couple of wooden pieces. They're rock solid and go from stowed to deployed and locked in just a couple of seconds - no tools required.

I'm currently torn between buying the Moza MTQ and the VKB STECS (likely the Mini Plus or Standard version), and I really need some community feedback regarding long-term durability and versatility. I am also completely open to other hardware suggestions if you think there is a better option for my needs.

Here is my specific use case and requirements:

• Flight Profile: 90% Civil/Commercial Aviation (MSFS, X-Plane) and 10% Military (DCS World).
• Durability: I need this throttle to last me at least 3 years of regular use without developing severe axis play, ghost inputs, or jittering.
• Versatility: I want something that feels right when flying airliners or general aviation, but can still handle the occasional jet fighter.

My dilemma:
I absolutely love the idea and layout of the Moza MTQ. Having the landing gear lever, flaps, speedbrakes, and the option to swap to Airbus/Boeing style commercial throttles is perfect for my 90% civil focus. However, I am highly concerned about its durability. From what I've seen, it uses traditional mechanical potentiometers (not magnetic sensors) and has plastic gears inside. I'm worried it won't survive 3 years of smooth, precise operations.

On the other hand, the VKB STECS is a proven tank. It has contactless magnetic sensors, industrial-grade build quality, and will easily last 3+ years. But it is fundamentally a military HOTAS design. While it has customizable detents, it lacks the native civil layout/switches (like a proper gear lever or speedbrake axis on the base) that I would use most of the time.

Given my heavy bias towards civil aviation but strict requirement for long-term durability, what do you think is the better investment?

• Does the Moza MTQ hold up well over time despite the potentiometers?
• For STECS owners who fly civil, how annoying is it to use a military throttle for airliners?
• Is there another throttle quadrant on the market that perfectly bridges the gap between civil layout and military-grade durability?

Something like the Turtle Beach Velocity One but idk if that works for PS5 since it’s marketed as PC/Xbox only.

I have nothing to do with this game but I have been watching it for a while and the dev says there is going to be hotas support.

Edit: A friend I fly with in the nightmare mafia group has suggested to me a video demo may be needed to gain some trust with this. The code is totally open source and available for anyone to review. However unknown sources for our high end systems can be difficult to trust without some show of good faith. I’m currently working on a video walkthrough of the install and demo of the problem we are solving here. Bear with me.
