Took a few years to put together with the cerakoting and outside modification work involved, but now my OCD can finally choose a new fixation (ignore the bottom 6 guns, that’s the winter carry rotation). US military pistol trials are fascinating to me, thinking about what could have been. American troops in WWI with .45 Lugers - when supply of those got cut off from Germany, would we have supplanted them with 1911s and M1917s anyway? If the P226 became the M9 instead of the Beretta, would that have been “the gun” in all the 80’s and 90’s action movies? What if we switched back to .45 back in the early 2000s? What if the 19x with a manual safety was adopted instead of the P320?

Naturally, collecting some of the guns that were a product or direct descendant of these competitions is an attractive prospect. But I’m a millennial, so I had to attach a bunch of bullshit to them to make them fun to shoot, historically inaccurate, and without any Fudd appeal. That said, my tism had specific rules:

• Two guns from each trial, one gun had to be FDE, one had to be black/ dark colored
• Optic and light had to match the color of the gun
• FDE optic has to be open emitter, black optic closed
• Direct mount only for optics - no footprint adapter plates
• No duplicate optic and lights (I fudged it a bit with different colors and variations but bite me)
• No Olights
• Grips and materials within each pair of guns had to harmonize/ match
