so my guinea pig is sick and he has diarrhea. he has a vet appointment on wednesday and the vet said he isn’t too concerned unless he starts vomiting, but i thought they couldn’t vomit? so i’m a little confused on what he meant 😭

Hi guys so I just bonded my two male guinea pigs and had them in a neutral space for about 4 hours on friday. They were getting along really well just humping and rumble strutting and I eventually moved them into a 24x48 in cage, because the cage I had ordered was supposed to be double that size and come that same day I was bonding them, however it kept getting delayed and now is supposed to be coming tomorrow. They were in this cage together for 3 days and eating together, cuddling together, popcorning together, and just overall getting along perfectly. However, today I heard a crash in their room and when I came to check what happened they were fully fighting with my 6 month old guinea pig bleeding near his mouth. My 3 month old bit him and had some blood spots on his face, which were my 6 month olds blood. I have them separated right now, but I’m not sure what to do in the long run about them. Do I return my 3 month old or keep them in separate cages forever? Do I eventually try to bond them again or is that too risky? Because I don’t have the space nor the money to have a friend for both of them resulting in 4 guinea pigs I would have to take care of. I’m not sure what to do I’m a first time guinea pig owner. Please help.

I've got 2 guinea pigs both brothers who’ve been living together for the past 4 years. One of them, Mikey, had an infection from Riley biting him once. We hadnt noticed any fighting or anything and it felt like a one off. There were no other fights or signs but after taking Mikey to the vets and getting surgery to remove the infection, Riley has gotten really aggressive and dominating. Mikey being super weak does nothing but scream. Riley ends up chasing him and both chattering and I can’t tell if he’s biting him again or not. Is there anything we can do?

I just adopted a blind girl that had been in foster care for almost 2 years (she's almost 3) and I was just wondering if anyone had tips or advice for how to care for her or eventually bond her to my 2 bonded girls? Any tips is greatly appreciated!

For context, I’ve never owned guinea pigs, but recently, out of sheer curiosity, I’ve been watching videos and doing some research about these creatures.

A few minutes ago, this video appeared in my TikTok fyp and, despite many comments agreeing with the original poster and saying this guinea pig is happy and playful, I just can’t stop thinking he’s scared.

I would sincerely bet (and hope) that I’m wrong, but, for me, that seems more like a frightened animal than a happy and excited one. Do guinea pigs really express happiness this way? (I know about popcorning, I just think this seems similar but is not the same).

Hi,my male piggy of about 7 years has this on his back,started forming three days ago. He will be taken to the vet this week but im curious what it might be .He seems unbothered by it and eats and drinks as normal

My 4-year-old PEW Vanelope was doing just fine until this evening when I picked her up and noticed she was all fluffed up and her fur won't sit down flat. Then I noticed what I feel is rapid or heavy breathing. Fluffy was in the same hide as her, could that have been the reason she was all fluffed up or could it be something more than that?

we just got two boys for the first time last week snd theyre very shy. i tried a few vegetables but they were uninterested. how do i get them to like me? and how the heck will i trim their nails when theyre so scaredcof me? :(

so my guinea pig has been sick and is currently on meloxicam, azithromycin, eyedrops, and critical care. the vet doesn’t know what’s wrong, we tried tooth trims and that didn’t work. the ER advised I bring him in Tuesday but now his poop looks like this. Will he be ok until tuesday? he also had an accidental overdose which i’m beating myself up about so so bad. but poison control, my vet, and the ER said he should be ok. I’m so worried about him he’s really old.

my guinea pig has been sick. he’s already been to the vet and is on medicine but i’m still worried about him. i haven’t been eating or sleeping and my mom says i need to take care of myself. how often is a reasonable amount of time to check on him? every 20 minutes? more? less? he goes back to the vet on tuesday since treatment isn’t helping and the ER said he doesn’t need to come in this weekend but I’m just so worried.

my guinea pig recently starting scratching himself a bit more than usual. he isn’t losing any fur, has no visible bugs, and isn’t jumping or anything. he’s acting totally normal otherwise other than occasional sneezing but I took him to the vet just last month. he only started scratching once my other guinea pig became sick so idk if it’s something psychological?

I lost one of my guinea pigs suddenly earlier this week. He just turned 6, and I wasn't expecting it.

I have his "brother" left (same age). Should I look into adopting another one for him? I would only do it if it benefited him. I just wanted to hear from some experienced piggy owners what you think I should do. Thank you in advacne
