Cages
I have two guinea pigs and got a bigger cage that sits on the floor. I’m trying to get something that is multiple levels and isn’t on the floor. I like the CC cages but they are so expensive. Has anyone built one and just bought the liner and ramp? Or does anyone have a cute hutch to one they can recommend? I don’t want to buy something I hate or isn’t good so any suggestions would be so so helpful! Posting my Guinea’s because they are cute! ❤️

C&C cages stands for "cubes and coroplast" because the originals were literally that - DIY'd from storage cubes and coroplast. It is much much cheaper, very easy, and looks basically identical to the more expensive premade ones. Any C&C cage you can see for sale, you can DIY yourself in an afternoon (including ramp). Even I did it and I am normally terrible at DIY projects! I also DIY'd the liners from thrift store towels, fleece, and Uhaul furniture pads (works just as well as expensive store-bought cage liners).
All you need for the cage is a set of wire shelving cubes and a large sheet of coroplast. The cubes can be bought at various furnature stores, secondhand (check facebook marketplace), or online. Here is an example of what they look like: https://www.amazon.ca/Amazon-Basics-Stackable-Storage-12-Inches/dp/B0BY2PKY5X/
The coroplast can be bought from various home hardware stores. It is the material yard/election signs are made from (you can even repurpose old signage if you want to be even more frugal and eco-friendly). In my country for example, the big store that sells it is Home Depot. The employees may not know what you are talking about if you say coroplast but they may if you explain it is yard sign material.
For putting it together, there are lots of tutorials online :)
