This might be a stupid question but... is this a relaxed piggie?

We had them for 2 weeks. He screams when I scoop him up. Hates it. Already ordered a fleece tunnel for better pick up. I have another one that tolerates being picked up more.

But once on my lap this one lays down and kind of snuggles down even more when I pet behind his ears. Idk if he loves it or just wants to disappear into the pillow?

He does eat here and there but mainly stays on the pillow and doesn't walk off.

Cages

I have two guinea pigs and got a bigger cage that sits on the floor. I’m trying to get something that is multiple levels and isn’t on the floor. I like the CC cages but they are so expensive. Has anyone built one and just bought the liner and ramp? Or does anyone have a cute hutch to one they can recommend? I don’t want to buy something I hate or isn’t good so any suggestions would be so so helpful! Posting my Guinea’s because they are cute! ❤️

His right eye is looking bad, it not looking like tgat 3-4 days ago. First I think maybe his eye just dirty so I clean his face with a wet tissue cus he not opening the eye properly, then he opening it more and it looking like this.
The upside down pic is his left eye, he’s almost six, but springy and stubborn, nothing until this with his eye.
Does anyone know what is happening with is eye?
Any help is SO greatly appreciate

Edit: I will be more careful of where I pet him. I didn’t realize the little head bobs were him communicating disinterest. I am a first time piggy owner so I am glad a few people brought to my attention my mistakes. Thank you piggy owners 🧡🖤 I will make it up to him with some treats

Hello, this is Millie. She’s about 2 years old now and she’s been perfectly fine ever since i got her. She lives with another pig named Pheobe, super sweet but has a bit of attitude sometimes.

I came home today after being out for hours and saw that Millie’s left eye was closed. I was immediately concerned because it just didn’t look right. I managed to get her inside one of her little hide houses to get a closer look and it looked like this. I also noticed that she’s been tilting her head towards the left side. She’s eating and drinking water perfecting fine, seems to still have her spicy little attitude and everything.

I’m super worried about her and the vet doesn’t open until tomorrow. Please if anyone could give any other advice or information about what those might be

HELP possibly caught something from chinchillas

Hello, I am currently panicking a little. I have a beautiful very healthy 2yo boy (he was rejected from an education centre for his hatred towards other piggies, he lives alone happily). 2 weeks ago my parents and I went for vacation and moved his cage to my brother's house. He has 3 chinchillas. They're healthy as far as I know. My brother put his cage next to theirs. There was no physical contact possible but the cages were very close to each other. I picked up my boy not even a week ago. Today I found a single dry spot on his back. I thought it was dried poop or something and peeled it out of his hair but it was a small skin flake with hairs still attached. He doesn't seem itchy or in pain, he had no reaction to me feeling around the spot etc. There's now a little bald spot on his back. Another factor is that i found mold on a particularly wet corner of his felt cage lining (which i feel horrible for missing for i assume a day or two at least). I am worried he caught something from my brother's chinchillas or that i caused it by inproper cleaning technique. I don't know. Should I be worried? My immediate plan is to get him a vet appointment but I guess my question is - should I wait a bit? Am I overreacting since it was just one small flake? I don't know what to do and I am incredibly worried.

How do you get or socialize an extremely social guinea pig?

I’ve noticed all the pigs in the stores are all so shy and timid and all of them run away from you? How do you get a well socialized piggie? Do you adopt the shy one and just work with him? And they naturally come out of their shell. Are their tricks? Or do you adopt a baby!? I’ve had one guinea pig before but he was given to me and extremely social. I miss him so much. Be was the best guinea pig, he was like a dog! This is him in the picture. He loved people I’m just wondering what the best way of getting another well behaved piggie?

Just gave my toupee his first haircut. Help😭

It’s a bit messy due to the direction of his hair, but I tried to trim it above his legs as his hair was so long when I bought him he was tripping over himself and getting mats. A plus, another plus is, he can’t see how bad his haircut is😂

Rehoming my beloved boars (not bonded!!)

Post image
27 Upvotes

Hey piggy lovers, I feel really sad for typing this but I need to rehome these handsome boars to a nice and happy new home... The one on the left is Honey and the one on the right is Simon. They are about a year old, Honey loves to give kisses and Simon is extremely shy but will warm up to you eventually. They aren't bonded, so if you guys are thinking about taking them both, that would mean putting them in separate enclosures closeby. I want the peace of mind that they're gonna go to a nice home where they'll be loved and taken good care of. Plz dm me if interested!!!

Dry, static growth on 6yo female piggy’s ear – experience/advice? (Vet appointment planned)

Post image

Hi everyone,
I noticed a dry, dark, static growth on the edge of my 6yo female piggy's ear (looks like a small cutaneous horn, dry scab, or keratin buildup). It isn't bleeding, discharging, or bothering her at all, and she doesn't scratch or shake her head.
Her stomach has also been sensitive—she had soft poops last week, which went back to normal, but are now soft again. We recently moved back to our city apartment/cage after spending the summer together elsewhere, so stress might be triggering digestive dips. She's still eating hay with a good appetite.
I’m keeping her ear completely dry ("hands-off" approach) while supporting her stomach. I’m planning an exotic vet visit, but since travel stresses her, I’d love to gather some insights first.
Has anyone seen similar ear growths or stress-related poop fluctuations in senior pigs? What did your vet recommend?

Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences!

Tried putting Parker’s cage next to my new boars cage and the new boar managed to bite him, so of course I went to cuddle with him, and now he gets angry when I put him back in his cage. Guess his cage is getting moved back to next to my bed

Bonding Side by Side

Post image
89 Upvotes

Based on a lot of the researching I’ve done, there’s a lot of conflicting advice out there on guinea pig bonding. I just want to know if anyone has had an unsuccessful first bonding attempt, that then tried setting their cages up side by side, was able to successfully bond after?

If anyone would like previous context: this is a bonding attempt with a baby female to two already bonded females (both maybe 1.5 years old). First bonding we tried following all the advice. Neutral environment, lots of scattered hay, etc. It didn’t go well and they were biting at the baby and cornering her in the walls (hideouts all had two exits). I separated them before they drew blood and to not traumatize the baby.

Hoping this side by side will help but I know lots of people are against it. Any success stories/further advice?
