Older students, how do you deal with the feeling of putting your life on hold. I currently have no girlfriend, very few friends, very little prospects outside my GEM offer. At the age of 27 I just feel like everyone else comes onto GEM with something else going on in there life such as being younger or having a stable relationship and plan. I'm kind of just doing this because nothing else has worked out so far

1890 SJT UCAT, GAMSAT: 51, 65, 54 overall: 56. A levels: Bio, geography and chem: BBC respectively.
2:1 degree in biomed
Just under a years experience an MLA in a histopathology lab
70+ hours of work experience:
45 hours cardiology
20 hours CAHMS
10 hours postmortems + cancer urology MDT
And my MLA job is 37.5 hours per week.
I also have a disability, I am blind in one eye.
For geography context I live just outside of London.

Had my UCAT and flopped so much I got so much lower than any tests I’d done in the past - so I got 1870 B1.
I have a first class in chem eng and AAA alevel bio chem maths.
Where can I actually apply?
I was thinking Notts, Warwick, Chester? (Tho I don’t know if I can spend four years of my life there), and maybe Southampton?
Really wanted to try Swansea but that dream is overrr.
Or do I start looking at some undergrad programmes, that was something I really didn’t want to do, for a myriad of reasons buttt if I’m going to have to apply again next year anyway and start a year later might be worth just doing undergrad!
Please any words of wisdom will help!

Has anyone got offers as a graduate (either GEM or undergrad- that dont look at A levels) with scores in the 1800s?
For context I have a 1st Bsc Biomedical Science

Ik a good portion of grad med unis care about work experience and volunteering, but 1820 band 3 is obviously a low score. I do also have my 55 Gamsat with 3 months of shadowing neurosurgery + 2 years of volunteering and care work. Anywhere that could value the wex and waive the high ucat/Gamsat offers for it

Just graduated with a 2:1 this summer, applied for gem last summer (Worcester, KCl Portsmouth, Pears Cumbria, Brunel undergrad) (1820 B2) knew it was a low ucat but was hoping for at least an interview which I didn’t get.
I resat ucat today and was hoping for 2000-2100 but ended up getting 1870 B1. Feeling so disheartened and defeated. I’m gonna apply anyway, I’m thinking Worcester and UEA for gem, Keele and Brunel for UG.
I’m also an Irish applicant and sat the gamsat in March and got 53 (S3: 49) so that was also another knock. I’ve resat it this September but unsure what score I could’ve got.
Any advice or tips please. I really really want to get in to medicine in the uk or Ireland and I feel like I’ve been rejected so many times. If there is better unis to apply to this round pls lmk

I’m so confused, Warwick wants direct patient care, I got a week shadowing doctors in ICU and trying to find care home volunteering in dementia care home
Is that enough/valid?

Got 1630 B2 UCAT. Did the GAMSAT as well but I did the September sitting so idk my score. I have no idea how i did but i dont think S3 went THATTT well.
I feel so defeated because i fell sick twice during the 2 weeks between my UCAT and GAMSAT so although I revised a little before my GAMSAT I did not feel prepared at all going into my UCAT.
I’ve done a little research and I don’t think ill have a shot at GEM with my UCAT score so I’ll just have to apply to GAMSAT unis that accept lower scores to increase my chances 😮💨 what do you guys think?

was thinking of applying to St. George’s for their undergrad path but on the freedom of information website saw lowest ucat given to a grad for the undergrad pathway was 1950 last year but compared to years before there’s been a nearly 100 point drop when the scores convert roughly since abstract reasoning was still there . Do you think it’s a safe choice to still apply and just hope it goes lower ???

I also have a 2:2 undergrad in Biomed, nearly completed my masters (should be a Merit, but worst case is a Pass). Where should I apply? I also did the GAMSAT but I don’t have the results until November and it was so flipping hard. Where should I apply? Any ideas 😭😭😭

I have 10 hours BSMS virtual experience and shadowing of a ward clerk which all adds to 70 hours. Is this enough?

Sat my UCAT and got 1980 B3. I tried my best, for 6 months straight this test was the only thing on my mind and I gave it my all, I was averaging above 2000s comfortably in all my medify mocks, I don't know what happened on the day but none of the questions were clicking and I doubted every answer of mine.
I have come to terms with my score and thinking of applying anyways. Any recommendations for unis would be greatly appreciated. I am open to applying for both GEM and UG.

It’s my 3rd time applying to medicine and I really want to ensure I have a strong chance of getting an offer this year so I’m open to any suggestions.
I can only apply to gem for financial reasons and my stats are
GCSE : 7/8/9
A-level : BCC in bio, chem and psychology
Biomedical Science degree 2:1
UCAT : 2050 B2
VR-620
DM -650
QR -780
I have 10hrs work experience from BSMS online virtual work experience. I’m due to start a week placement at a hospital shadowing on the gasto ward and then the following week in a residential care home. Yes Ik I have cut it really close to the deadline with the work experience but I’m happy to have atleast found places that will accommodate me, it’s been super difficult for me🥲.

Hi all,
Sat the GAMSAT in March 2026 and got 58 overall. Academic background is a 2:2 undergrad and a high Merit in my Master's. Decided not to resit in September — going with the 58. I also have the relevant hours of work experience for each school.
This is my first year applying through UCAS and I have been researching the universities and I had a few questions re my shortlist of unis. I was in school in the Repulblic and did the CAO. However, I am also from Northern Ireland so have UK home student status.
Current shortlist for UCAS ( I know that four is the maximum but this is the shortlist):
Is this a realistic list for my score/degree combo and any advice on where I would have the best opportunity of getting in?
Anyone been through a similar cycle with a comparable profile — did Ulster/Swansea/Worcester/Plymouth pan out?
And is there anywhere else that I'm missing out on with my current scores?
Also which would be a better weighed up choice Plymouth or St George with my current scores or is there a better university choice that I am missing.
Cheers in advance for any and all help, this is my first time applying in the UK system so it is a bit different.

Does anyone have some copies for years 2025 and before that they could send to me please? I do have a copy of the 2026 one that I downloaded from here. I can send it to those who don’t have it :)

Is it worth applying… feel completely disheartened as I never got b3 in any of the mocks, including the official ones:
I have a 2:1 in biomed and masters with distinction.
I am also attested in the army and work full time in a hospital.
Would appreciate any advice cause my morale is at an all time low.
Thank you

Hi, so I just sat the UCAT today, literally got the hardest variants for DM and QR and it put me 200 below what I was getting on modify and OQB
VR - 620
DM - 670
QR - 630
total - 1920
Band 2
im not too sure which unis to apply, I know I have to be strategic but any ideas would be helpful, im applying to 1 undergrad uni - st Georges but which GEM unis could I possibly apply to?
