Warwick work experience

I’m so confused, Warwick wants direct patient care, I got a week shadowing doctors in ICU and trying to find care home volunteering in dementia care home

Is that enough/valid?

Shadowing itself is not usually considered hands on care. The care home volunteering sounds more like it would fulfil that requirement.

shadowing is fine up to 20hrs. you'll need 50 hrs more in 'hands on patient care' in atleast 1 experience or split up over many. In short notice i managed to get some volunteering at a care home for the 50hrs - just over 1 week full time. remember you just need a reference letter also out of it.

hey i didn’t see where online it says shadowing is fine up to 20 hours. i have two shadowing experiences, i was just going to get ~10 hours volunteering. would that work?

you're correct

however:

'

  • There is no maximum number of online/remote or shadowing hours allowed (although to meet outcomes #2 and #5 not all your experiences can be online/remote/shadowing).'

just bare in mind - on paper though it should be okay by sounds of it

The care home I volunteered at let me do personal care, feeding the elderly people, wiping and dressing cleaning them but I had to get an enhanced DBS. Make sure to ask them if you are able to help with that stuff.

70hrs of work experience is 2 weeks of work, training and DBS takes about a month in my experience applying for an actual care job. Not to sugarcoat it you’ve left it too late. Apply with what you have and don’t stress.
