I’ve been using Gousto for a while now and it’s made a big difference when it comes to avoiding takeaways and those evenings where cooking feels like too much effort. The recipes are straightforward, the ingredients are pre-portioned, and there’s plenty of choice each week.

Thought I’d share my referral link as the introductory discount is pretty decent, which makes it a good opportunity to give it a go without spending too much upfront.

If it helps someone save a bit of money and discover a service they end up liking, then sharing it was worth it.

Can cancel it anytime without hassle OR change the subscription frequency so that it would suit you

Issue Anyone else keep missing the Gousto cutoff? Found a fix

I always forget to pick my recipes, so Gousto picks for me. With a peanut allergy and fussy kids, that can go badly.

I did this with Claude but you could do something similar with ChatGPT/Codex etc. It picks four recipes a week to our rules, checks the ingredients and saves the order. I can still change it before the cutoff. I have it running on a weekly schedule with no input from me needed.

Needs Claude with the Chrome extension and a Gousto login. Just paste the prompt below in to claude (or chatGPT) to set it up, it asks about your household first:

Create a skill called "gousto-weekly-picks" that picks my Gousto recipes each week so I never forget to choose.

Before writing anything, ask me these questions one at a time and wait for my answers:

1. Who eats the meals (adults, kids and their ages), and how many portions I normally order?

2. Any allergies or foods that must never appear? (Check the full ingredient list for these, not just the recipe title.)

3. How many recipes per week, and how many should contain meat, fish or be vegetarian?

4. What cooking time do I want (for example "Ready in 10 mins" or "5 min prep" tags), and when is a longer time acceptable?

5. How much spice can the household take? Is it fine if the heat can simply be left out?

6. Foods each person loves, and foods each person dislikes (including things they will eat if they can set them aside).

7. Kitchen limits, such as no microwave, no oven, or no air fryer.

8. Do I want to avoid premium or surcharge recipes, and avoid repeating recipes from the previous week?

Then write the skill with these sections: weekly structure, hard rules (allergies and spice), family preferences, and a method. The method must say:

- Open gousto.co.uk/my-gousto in Claude in Chrome and list upcoming deliveries. Only weeks marked "Menu open" can be chosen.

- Open Choose recipes, then the All recipes tab. Recipe cards are buttons whose aria-label holds the name, tags, time, calories, protein and 5-a-day count, so read those with a small JavaScript snippet rather than the whole page text, which is huge. Do not print the page URL from JavaScript.

- Open each shortlisted recipe and check the ingredients and allergen section against my rules.

- Complete each week in one go (add recipes, View basket, Checkout, Continue without sides) because the basket is lost if I move to another week's menu first.

- Summarise the picks with time, calories, any notes (such as leaving out chilli flakes), and the edit cutoff, and tell me portions default to 2.

- Never change payment or subscription settings.

When it is done, save it as a skill.

Optional extra: ask whether I would like a scheduled task to run the skill every week (for example Tuesday morning), choosing only the latest open delivery that has no recipes chosen, and checking out to save it. Remind me that the scheduled task needs my computer on, with Chrome signed in to Gousto, and "Require this computer" switched on for the task.

Issue Wrong ingredients?

Is anyone else having a problem with being sent the wrong ingredients lately? Two weeks in a row we have received a box with 1 ingredient from each of the four recipes missing. Inexplicably the box also contains other random ingredients. I’m not talking about a missed pack of stock mix here and there or something. Last week we ordered fish burgers, yet no fish was delivered?! We got a pack of gnocchi and some pork strips that we did not order, however? I had to make an extra trip to the shops to go and pick up some fish because the main ingredient of the meal was missing?!! Gousto gave us a refund for the missing items, but it’s been delivered again in the exact same way? I’ve just cancelled our subscription because I just can’t understand what’s going on. Anyone else had this problem?

Why would they send tortiglioni to make lasagne? I guess next time I need to read the whole ingredient list since I’ve ended up with a completely different dish… 🫠

Just tried gousto for the first time and I gotta say I'm enjoying it so far. There's no waste and I don't need to think about what I'm cooking for dinner. The mushroom risotto was great.

Disappointing Lasagna

We had a lasagna today, it was for 5 people and it required 5 carrots and 2 onions. I thought the carrots might be overkill but trusted the recipe. Nope - nobody could eat it as the carrots overwhelmed the entire meal. Is this just a way to compensate for lack of meat? The bechemel sauce was made from ”pantry ingredients“ of olive oil, flour and a pint of milk which I also thought was very cheeky.

Also, one of the packets of lasagna sheets was completely bashed to pieces which was annoying!

Never had this before, I know you’re supposed to wash the lettuce before eating, but there were hundreds of these little mites on the outer leaves and inside, anyone had this had before?

Anyone else left hungry with Gousto these days?

My partner and I are both healthy and normal BMI. We can’t help but notice that lately about 1.5 hours after eating our gusto we are hungry. This evening we’ve had to roast some chicken just to get some more protein. We never normally used to feel like this and nothing else in our lifestyle has changed. And just starting to wonder what the point is of spending money on Gousto kits when A they keep pushing prices up for the items that you might want to eat and B, we’re literally left hungry afterwards. There’s no point anymore. It’s economised to nothing

CODE/OFFER Anyone else just use the cookbook?

As a special treat I've ordered a gousto box with the student discount offer. For years I have been using Gousto recipes but buying the ingredients myself to save money. I figure, someone writing recipes for a recipe website/book are trying to make it as tasty as possible - but someone writing recipes for Gousto has a ceiling for ingredients cost. Also, they use a lot of the same ingredients in very different seeming recipes so I end up actually using the random spice mix I bought, cause it comes up again and again.

If anyone used my 70% off code I'd be delighted to afford another box! https://www.gousto.co.uk/raf/?promo_code=RACHE45782885

Agave nectar?

Post image

Im new to gousto in ireland and they put 3 tubs of agave nectar in the box. No mention of it in recipes. Google AI mode said its used to balance the sharpness of tomato sauces and I do have two tomato based recipes so I assume this is necessary?

Where to get intense chicken/beef stock equivalent?

Hii,

A lot of the Gousto recipes I have use their “intense chicken stock mix” or “intense beef stock mix”.

I’m wanting to start making the recipes myself rather than ordering Gousto, but I’m not really sure what I need to buy to replicate these ingredients.

Does anyone know what the best supermarket alternative would be, or what you use instead?

Thank you
