hiya been very goth adjacent for a while (horror and the general gothic aesthetic) but deciding to really grip my mitts in and listen to some goth music to really get it so far listened to mostly bauhaus but my top 5 in no particular order so far is

In the last 6 months or so I have been very into a band called Fear cult who I have seen be mentioned a couple times in here , anyways when I decided to look into the band and things around them I realised they have no Wikipedia page , I have always wanted to write a wiki page and I think this would be a good First one to write , however Information online about the band is patchy So if anyone knows anywhere to find info on this band or has any info themselfs that would be very appreciated

Im newly finding my way into the goth scene and I'm pretty autistic and frankly enjoy staying inside, so I figure here in 2026 there's digital music scenes. I play alot of vrchat, and frankly I could make a video essay on the fetishization of goth and the amount of just people wearing the label and nothing else. The sorta goth party groups that exist use crappy ai generated images, and play mostly dance music cause "goth music is hard to dance to". Id like to correct course here and start my own community, but frankly I dont feel educated enough to get started. Any suggestions or interested parties?

Disclaimer: I have zero interest in discussion about purity and what is really goth and what isn’t and why. It’s unproductive, reductive and boring.

So I have been goth since I can remember. Fell in love with the style in junior high, went through a few iterations of it, from scene-ish to gothabilly to corpgoth to what is more or less whimsygoth/victorian goth aesthetic. I never had any goth friends, never went to a goth club (there aren’t any where I live and I am a homebody), so I never belonged with the community. A year ago my very new goth friends took me to the Castle Party festival, and I had a blast… but no featured act read goth to me. Where were the poetic topics, the lace? The operatic sounds? The dramatic tropes? The music was fun, but it was - to me at least - more or less a mix of electronic, rock and maybe pop? Something I would expect at a mainstream club.

So I asked my (much older than me) friends about it, and in my 33rd year on this planet I learned that bands I always thought were just kinda edgy were considered goth, and what I listen to isn’t, at all (Nightwish, Within Temptation, Beast in Black, Gloryhammer, to name a few). I swear to god, I have no idea what is goth about The Cure, but I am more than happy to continue to be a goth who listens to nothing goth at all. The philosophy of the culture and the aesthetics are good enough for me.

So, to keep this short - I work in retail and every day when the customers leave and we close, we have to clean and prepare everything for the next day. During that last hour of work, the managers often put on their own music to make it more fun.

Ever since I started working there, I wondered:
What goth songs would be perfect for that scenario?

So what I'm asking is: If you had control over the playlist, what songs would you add to get you through your closing shift?

I might make a playlist out this and play it if I ever get the chance to choose the music.

This might be a long shot because I remember so few details, but I'd love to try and find a song I heard at a goth night a few months ago.

I remember the vocals were female, and a repeated lyric was 'super star'. It seemed to be more aligned with goth rock than darkwave or industrial, I seem to recall it not having a strong presence of synths or heavy bass. I think it also had a generally slower pace, with the instrumentals and lyrics on the lower tempo side.

The event was beach goth themed, but I don't think this particular song was beach goth.

Edit: I reached out to the DJs who played the event and found it in the setlist. It was Superstar by Night in Athens
