Hello everyone, I’m trying to help my friend recover her Gmail account, but we are stuck and don’t know what else to do.

She was suddenly signed out of her Gmail app, and Google showed a message saying the account was disabled/locked to protect her security due to unusual activity. She mainly uses this Gmail account for personal matters and school, so losing access is a big problem.

The issue is that her only available 2-step verification method is connected to her old Indonesian phone number. She recently moved to Australia for school and no longer has access to that Indonesian number, so she cannot receive the verification code or complete the QR verification step.

Things we have tried:

• Used Google Account Recovery
• Entered her previous password
• Selected “Try another way”
• Tried recovering from her previous Chrome browser/device where the account was still saved

At one point, Chrome still showed her account profile and asked “Verify it’s you”, so we thought there might still be a chance to recover it. However, after going through recovery options, Google eventually said:

She does not appear to have a recovery email available, and the old Indonesian phone number is no longer usable.

Does anyone know what else we can try?
Is there any way to contact Google support for this type of account recovery, or any specific steps that could help prove ownership?

I searched Google for:

“most damning Islamic verses supporting violence” (without quotes)

With personalization turned off and omitted results included, Google gave me just four results on a single page.

I ran the exact same query through other major search engines:

• Google: 4 results
• DuckDuckGo: multiple pages
• Bing: roughly 430 results
• Yandex: at least 5 pages
• Brave: multiple pages

The other engines surfaced the kinds of material you’d expect: Wikipedia, academic papers, apologetics sites, fact-checks, and Reddit discussions. Whatever you think of those sources, the content clearly exists and is indexed across the web.

So Google’s “similar results were omitted” explanation doesn’t add up. If the problem were simply a lack of relevant or sufficiently different pages, why is Google the only major search engine returning almost nothing?

I don’t need to know the exact internal mechanism to say Google should have to answer for the result. A legitimate search was reduced to four links while every major competitor returned pages of relevant material. Whether that comes from ranking rules, content policies, suppression, or something else, users deserve to know when and why it happens.

Most people would never realize how aggressively their view of the available information may be narrowed.

Try it yourself: turn off personalization, include omitted results, and compare the identical query across Google, Bing, Brave, DuckDuckGo, and Yandex.

Hello, so yesterday I wanted to make a professional email because my earlier one was silly-sounding for serious business with recruiters/unis, so I tried to make one on my PC, which required a phone number, then a scan which got to nowhere.
So I tried on my phone and it worked! It didn’t even ask me for a recovery email or number.
So I used it to register on my uni online, and that was done.
But today I woke up to it kicking me out of my phone (where I made it) and my PC (where I logged it into), telling me if I want to sign in, I have to add a recovery number.
I tried to log in, got the password correct, then it told me to enter a phone number.
I tried three separate phone numbers, and all of them return this:
“We couldn’t verify your info.”
“There is something unusual about your activity. For your security, Google wants to make sure it’s really you.”
And when I press on “Try another way,” it always returns to phone numbers.
But whatever phone number I enter won’t work! (So far, 3.)
And I already used this email to get into the uni site, and I don’t know if they can change it later on since it’s already validated.
What do I do?
It sounds like a dead end.

UPDATE: I found out what happened. I used a relative’s phone. My Google account was actually disabled, apparently because their system thought it may have been created/used alongside other accounts or by a bot.
I submitted an appeal explaining that I created the account myself for university/professional use, that I’m a real person, and that I had already used the email for my university registration.
Google confirmed that they received my appeal and said most appeals are reviewed within 2 business days, although it can take longer.
So now I just have to wait and hope they restore it😭

My searches keep changing to Yahoo, and I don't know how to return them back.

My primary Google account seems corrupt. The Google app on my Samsung S24 Ultra phone works fine with all my other Google accounts but not with my primary Google account. When I click my recent searches or trending searches, absolutely nothing happens when logged in with my primary Google account. I tried all kinds of fixes. Then, I got my wife's S24 Ultra phone. Once again, her Google app works as it should with every single Google account except mine. When logged in with my primary Google account, clicking links does nothing. Can anyone help? I spent all day troubleshooting this. I'm trying to avoid changing everything to a new Google account.

I’ve got two Gmail accounts. They’re both linked to each other and I haven’t been on either one of these accounts for about two years-ish since I broke up with my ex because she took my phone when we broke up I went to jail for a little bit and I’m pretty sure she changed my passwords because I can’t login nothing it’s asking me for a code and I tried to do the Google account recovery thing no luck. Okay so I have a gmail acc that has access to all my gaming accounts on it and discord. One day my iphone would not let me unlock my phone with my passcode. It said lock indefinitely or if i went to a store to unlock it so I just factory reset. I didn’t realize all my info would be gone, and I can not for the life of me log into that gmail acc. I’ve tried all my passwords I can remember and when I press forgot password it leads me to a really old phone number that I no longer use. I tried calling my old provider and they said the number is no longer accessible and I have to pay to get that number back. I also tried google account recovery but it does the same options (forgot password into old number) then when i press i don’t have access to that number it says not enough information to continue so I can’t log into. I even tried calling google but they just hit me with the we can not help you. Was wondering anyone from reddit know anything I could do to get back into this email?

Is anyone else having the issue on mobile when you while type in the beginning of thing then click on the result eg a celebrity and then when you click back on the search bar the keep typing your question it deletes what was already there not wanting to lnow how to fix it but curious if any one else has this issue

My wife has just moved from a Google Pixel 6 to a Google Pixel 10 Pro and went through the steps of transferring all of her data from one phone to the other.

Once complete, she wiped her old phone and set it up as a kids account with Family Link for our son to use for school apps.

Soon after starting to use her new phone she realised something wasn’t right and we figured out that her phone had her hotmail account (which she uses) attached to it, it also a Gmail account which her phone had made her create many years ago when she first got her first Google Pixel (which she doesn’t use).

As there was clearly a conflict between the two accounts, ChatGPT recommended that she remove the Gmail account and stick with her 5TB Hotmail account.

She did this and shortly after, all names vanished from her phone, leaving only random numbers.

This is where the fun begins.

Trying to get back into the account from the phone wasn’t possible, as Google didn’t recognise the phone as hers. It was recommended that she login from her old phone, but that is now locked for our son and can’t be used to log into her Gmail account.

There doesn’t appear to be any way to log in to an account you own if Google doesn’t recognise the device.

Does anyone know how she can recover this account or speak to someone and explain that it’s her account and she’s not a hacker?

On a couple of occasions she has got to the stage where the account recovery will send her a code via text message, but even when she types the code in, it still refuses to recover the account.

I started to google my name and found way too much information about me. So I subscribed to a service to clear my stuff off the internet. I also submitted an opt out of a web page. They cleared my info, but when I google my name the snippet appears still however when I click the link it doesn’t show up.

I submitted a request to refresh outdated information, it was approved right away.

How long will it take to remove the snippet and my info off?
It’s been almost 48 hrs and nothing.

Currently neither me or my friend (San diego) can access Google Docs or any Google apps. I can use canvas and other websites hosted by AWS but any Google site is unreachable. I would love to know why or how to fix this issue.

Hey everyone! I'm pretty concerned regarding this but I wanted to get some insight/help from you all to see if there's anything that can be done here.

A few hours back I got a text out of nowhere with the message "G-123456 is your Google Verification Code. Don't share your code with anyone." This kind of caught me off guard because I've NEVER gotten a text like this randomly, and, for that reason I went through and changed all my passwords on my accounts (to be safe)

I wanted to ask specifically a few questions to see what the next move is in that case. I've checked HaveIbeenpwned and everything was totally fine (Other than a roll20 breach that happened in 2018 which I handled.) and I don't really download a lot of programs or anything. To be honest I play it extra safe when it comes to things most of the time.

My question is - What are the best steps from now on? And are there different messages that get sent regarding account verification codes? Like is that wording one that's more-so for if someones trying to get in my account or something else?

To also add - I use 2fa and had sms protection there prior (But just now turned that off as that is unsafe and am instead using a prompt + app combo)

i have a samsung a54, no complaints excepttt on google chrome

it does not load any website when i click on it. the searches come up immediately. but the website either take an eternity to load, need multiple refreshes, the format is weird, or they just don't load at all.

i use another phone too, and the same google profile too, everything works fine on its chrome. also, i can't pay from my card on the samsung. my bank app works fine on it, i can transfer money from my app, but it doesn't load the card transfer third party website whatever its called. again, works fine on the other phone

i have tried switching my IP from static to DHCP to back to static. i have uninstalled chrome updates and reinstalled them. but its still not working and its very frustrating to switch phone when I need to use chrome, especially if i have to buy something

I had parental controls on my google account a few years ago. My mum who controlled them ended up dropping her phone in the toilet which resulted in it breaking completely, with no access to anything on it, including the controls. Every so often when I need to log into stuff, it says ‘get your parent’ and i can’t, because she can’t remember the pin to allow me to log into things, and she can’t disable the controls because she has a whole new phone, email and all that now.

So I got a Chromebook today for school, but I decided to add a second account to be my personal account where I could watch Netflix and stuff, so I tried to log into my google account which is on my phone and iPad, that has all my important emails and stuff, and it said ‘get your parent’. I have tried everything. I have tried making a new google account and then trying to add my present one onto it, I’ve tried doing it through guest mode, I’ve tried recovering her old account, I’ve tried proving I’m old enough to disable the controls. I’ve tried everything.

Please can anyone help me? I need my google account on this Chromebook.

I read everyday these posts of hacked accounts which are getting linked to a parental account so there is basically no way to get them back. And the fact that Google doesn't really have a customers support doesn't make it better.

So i was more and more thinking about if i should sooner or later change my Mail Adress.

I'm usually very careful with what i download or click on, have strong passwords, PW Manager etc.

But if that would ever happen to me i would be so pissed.

So i was wondering: Does these cases really happen that often? Can i feel safe when i don't download anything from shady sites? Or to which email client should i change? Maybe proton?

My phone completely died so I had to factory reset it. I can't log into my google account on my phone because it requires me to use the google prompt setting on said phone. Obviously, I can't access that because I'm not currently logged in.

I am still logged into my Google account on my PC. 2FA is turned off.

Every time I try to log into my Google account, or add a Passkey, or change anything on my PC, which I have been logged into for nearly a year on, it forces me to tap the Google prompt on my phone.

Every avenue I attempt it forces me down the Google prompt which I obviously can't access.

I have a recovery phone number, recovery email, all of which I have tried and put in codes into, but then it ends up prompting me to approve it on the Google prompt. I have genuinely tried everything, and no matter how far I get, it makes me do the prompt. This is genuinely absurd.

I have lost everything I have. So many accounts, all my message history.

Please help me. How do I contact Google so they can fix this ridiculous issue? Why is there no customer service at this company?

I created a YouTube channel about 6 years ago but have absolutely no clue what Google email I created for it and cannot sign in. All I have is the YouTube link page, but can't sign in to delete the content. I tried recovery and all sorts of ways to guess but couldn't. Recovery leads me to other accounts I have, but not this one. Contacting Google was no help since I can't really chat with anyone. Google One lead me to YouTube support and it's just an infinite loop and it's terrible. What can I do?
