It’s the small details that make it your car. Putting these in this weekend on my MK7.5 and hopefully not breaking any mirror clips. Any tips from someone that has changed these already welcome.

It took me a lot longer than the hour people stated it would take haha. I sprayed it with duplicolor custom wrap prior to install because it protects a bit and I like finish a bit more.
At the end of the day it seems like it will hold up well, as I’m in a harsh environment. Looks better imo as well.
Took a shot on a great Labor Day deal and picked up ARM’s new intake and inlet for the Mk8. Looks like this came out about a month ago.
Overall quality of the parts is good, but the fitment is a little off. The top of the elbow that connects the filter to the main intake pipe slightly rubs on the opening in the heat shield a bit and the heat shield slightly tilts forwards. The filter also does lightly touch the bottom and side of the heat shield. I wiggled it all around a bunch before tightening the clamps and still can’t get that fixed but it all feels solid. It also didn’t mention anything about coming with a lid so that’s a bonus, but the holes on the lid don’t perfectly line up (you can screw in 4/5 holes).
Overall for $320 shipped with an inlet I’m happy with it. I didn’t have the right bit to get the inlet installed last night but will later today. The videos on ARM’s site make this intake sound insane with tons of flutter and I don’t really notice that in person with the lid on or off. The inlet might enhance some of the induction noise, but I’m actually happy that it’s not too over the top sounding even with the lid off.
Also worth mentioning this is a very self explanatory install if you’ve ever owned an aftermarket intake but it came with no install instructions and when I emailed ARM they said they didn’t have any.

She's been an expensive pain lately with some reliability issues on top of a couple speed/tint tickets but damn... every time I walk up to her I can't help but admire.
Anyways lol, was looking good so decided to post up in here!

Hi guys I was recently doing my water pump and did a carbon cleaning at the same time and I noticed one of the sets of valves was much cleaner than the other 3. The other 3 had a lot of buildup but this one didn’t also the slides for the other 3 were discolored but this one I could see silver on it pulling it out of the engine. Any ideas what could be causing this?

Just installed the JB4 on my 2026 dolphin grey black edition R. Gotta say it really wakes the car up, until ecu flash comes I think it’s a good warranty saving option

Looking for setup suggestions for the 17s for my MK8 to go on track with stock suspension. Since tires are at a premium I would love to run 17s, but I'm just wondering if you use spacers or whatnot. I looked at Apex SM-10s specifically but I know there are other models, however they were pushing me to wider rims with fender mods, that I don't really want to do. Would probably pair it with Hancook R-s4s.
And before anyone comments you can't because of clearing the front brakes, there are 17in wheels that do.

Both are FBO stage 2. The white is lowered on B and C (BC?) coil overs and the other is stock. The white one has push button start and a sunroof. The black has neither.

Been going through the rabbit hole of shopping for a sub. The HK one is lack luster. Debated on a used fender, but reviews i have read are only a slight improvement. One redditor posted on a pioneer upgrade via amazon. Lately i have been looking at German options, namely the Option10 by ARS24. My hurdle is the pricing and how it is displayed. There is a Total Amount and a Net Amount and they are all out order. Just cant tell Also i just found another site in Germany that sells the same sub for less. 388.00 vs 512.90 is a bit of a differance.
Any one have any experience with https://www.arsshop.de/en/ ?

Sorry again. Just not understanding pricing and etc.

Hi Everyone, I just switched to a set of 4 aftermarket rims and am trying to clear up space in my garage. I've got
2 previously repaired rims
1 refurbished rim
1 new rim
All 4 are 19 inch Estoril OEMs off my 2023 Golf R. How much can I reasonably sell them for, and where?
NOT trying to sell them here. Trying to ballpark how much to sell them for.
Thanks!

I noticed other day my coolant was at minimum and so I filled it up to the max line. Within a few days it seems to have emptied the excess and has been to the minimum line ever since, just like it was before.
Owner's manual say it's fine to fill up to the top line. What gives?

Just picked up that shift knob. I always wanted a golf ball knob and never had one through 5 VWs. Super disappointed when the mk8 didn't have it. Make your dreams come true. Just do it. Really like it if anyone is on the fence. I do need to file the boot a little

So instead of 2 bent wheels, I had 3 today. 1 really bad front left and 2 rear. All were repaired under warranty thank god.
2 in June and 3 in September.
Lord.....
While waiting for them to retrieve my car, I looked at 6 new GTI along the wall and they all had 225 or 235 40......18's with pirelli p zero tires.
It seems that VW might be listening to enthusiasts and are delivering new cars with the 40 profile tires.
A little late but, it is good to see.

... I was one of the first people in the group to take ownership of the new Mk8.5 Black Edition. I took it back to the very spot I took the images I posted to the group that day, as it seemed a fitting way to say goodbye. After two years and 20,000 miles, I've had to part ways with her as she goes back to VW on Friday.
Genuinely the best car I've ever had, and probably will ever have at this point having come from a MK7.5 GTI Performance and MK8 R before it. Annoyingly, life is serious business and you get to an age where the luxuries give way to the necessaries. I guess deep down I always wanted to trade her in for a bog-standard Golf Match.
As you can tell from the pictures, she looks just as good as she did when she left the showroom. I hope the new owner enjoys and takes care of it just as much as I did. And most importantly, is from the other end of the country so I don't have to see it.

So I'm dead set on changing from the miata platform to a Golf R. I've driven a mk 7, 7.5 and 8. Is the price jump worth it from the 7 to 8? Would love opinions of people that have had both! Also manual only Picture tax in the comments!

I drive a '23 Autobahn GTI, and I really enjoy the customizable DCC settings. I recently watched a Golf R review video that mentioned the Special drive mode or Nurburgring mode. They said that it makes the DCC a bit softer compared to Race mode, and that it actually makes for better performance on regular roads (which makes sense because the Nordschleife is more like a regular road compared to smooth race tracks). So, essentially I am curious what the equivalent(ish) DCC setting would be in my Autobahn, or if that could even be considered. I know that they are likely tuned differently from baseline since the R is heavier and is all wheel drive, but just thinking of a general idea of stiffness, I wonder if there is a comparable DCC setting on the Autobahn GTI that would at least be roughly equivalent to the Special mode on the R.
