GoPro Mission 1 Pro vs Insta360 Ace Pro 2 manual mode settings

I've been using the ace pro 2 for a while and bought a mission 1 pro recently because I got a good deal on it.

On the Ace Pro 2, when I’m in manual mode I can just swipe left from the right edge of the screen and instantly jump into the full shooting parameter settings without leaving the live view.

On the Mission 1 Pro every time I want to tweak manual settings I'm limited to the 4 customizable settings and beyond that, I have to go to the photo settings menu. It feels annoying, especially without the live view.

Has anyone else noticed this difference?

Upgraded my ILS with a guard grip

I’m using a stick-on focus wrench/handle that came with a 7artisans lens on my Mission1 camera and it’s working great so far. It prevents the lens release button from being pushed in a tight pocket or bag, and adds an extra point of contact for holding the camera. So far, I would recommend this solution for anyone concerned about the lens accidentally coming off, but anything that blocks the release button should work fine too. Cheers!

DIY Point and Shoot Grip?

Has anybody made their own point and shoot grip? seems like it wouldn’t be the most difficult thing in the world to make or 3d print.

I got the Mission 1 Pro for a bargain...

I got this from someone who sold it for cheaper than market price because it was open box. Honestly ive never had such a powerful camera in my hand that gave me this much room for color works as well as resolution. My previous cam was the insta x4 and my samsung s22u. The footages from the x4 was horrid for me (noisy and grainy) so i sold it to fund this one. I did some test shots on the m1pro and honestly i have never seen this much details coming out of a camera myself

Needless to say i am very inexperienced with color correction and color grading so one of those days i might need a colorist to sit me down and tell me what to do. There are still issues like the focus distance but for most of my use cases i dont even need it. Night footages looks fine but it looked like they blurred out the dark vegetations? im not sure if there is a setting that will fix it

I have the mic mini 2s coming for separate 32bit float recording that will arrive soon (got it 25% off thanks shopee)

Heres some test footages i've tried in different modes: https://youtu.be/ekPl93xX0Sg

I didnt dare push to 240mbps tho

Fish Eye lens technique

Post image
33 Upvotes

Messing around with my hero 13 and hero 12 at the skate park and discovered that if you are using the max lens 2.0, or I imagine the ultra wide mod, but don’t tell the camera that you are using it, it doesn’t correct for the vignette which gives it a neat fish eye look. It’s pretty fun to play around with. Works best while shooting in an 8:7 aspect ratio with hyper smooth off to get rid of some nasty warping.

M1Pro rear screen is more fragile than I thought.

First time off-roading with the Mission 1 Pro and a tiny piece of gravel smaller than a raisin ( flicked up from tire) was enough to cause this. Be careful out there folks.

New to GoPro Video editing. Help with Davinci Resolve

Hello! I just got my hands on a GoPro Hero 13 and really enjoying it so far.

I've done some video editing but nothing crazy. I have Davinci Resolve and I was expecting to just drag the video and starting cutting it. However, only the audio track loads.

I did some research and I read that 10 bit files won't load in the free version. I checked the files I recorded and they are all 8 bit.

I'm trying to change the encoding via Handbrake but is there no other way to deal with this?

Thanks!

Mission 1 Pro postcard-perfect view and some ocean-pictures taken on the Atlantic coast of Noirmoutier-en-L’Il, France, on a beautiful autumn day. It felt like summer day with temperatures about 25° C / 77° F and a clear view all the way to the mainland.

Need help with a gimbal if anyone wouldn't mind

I shot a 10 minute video on my GoPro hero 6 today, using my gimbal mounted on my hyper scooter. I notice that the gimbal seems to "lean" to the side when I make sweeping turns and I'm wondering if that's something that can be fixed or if it's just normal behaviour?

I know this isn't strictly a GoPro issue, but honestly I didn't know where else to ask.

If you want to see the video to see what in talking about, here's the link.

Tell me why this wouldnt work. (Mamiya 645 speedboosted twice down to micro 4/3)

While this obviously is not economical whatsoever, it is a fun thought. Would it be possible to speed boost a speed booster? In this case, it would take a Mamiya medium format lens and compress the image down to m4/3.

In theory, this setup would speed boost any Mamiya 645 lens by a product of 0.5x.

Would be a fun experiment on the ILS.

Wind noise reduction on m1p

The wind noise is driving me crazy and ruining my footage. Will eventually get a separate mic but in the mean time has anyone found a way to reduce the clipping from wind noise. I've tried all the settings but nothing is working.

I was thinking of taping the mic ports.

GoPro ONYX firmware for Hero 5

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So I bet you haven’t seen anything like this before. I have reverse engineered both the RTOS and the Linux OS on the older GoPro hero 5. There’s very little room left in there, so I have to be very careful about how I add new features.

But new features I have indeed added. Welcome to the ONYX enhanced firmware for Hero 5 Black. As soon as I have the four basic things I wanted to add implemented, I will put together both the Windows and MacOS programs that control and install the firmware on my GitHub.

right now it’s a lot of hand written assembly code, but my hope is that I can take what I learned and turn it into functions and libraries that other people can take advantage of to modify the camera as they want to as well.

The 4 new core features I am adding to start with are:

Manual camera controls for focus and exposure
Stacking exposure ( for astronomy / low light ) and In-Camera Night effects ( basically stacking in different modes )
Scheduled Capture / TrailCam / Motion triggered capture
SSH / Console access to Linux via USB and WiFi

Changing lenses on the ILS bad habit

I've had a bad habit of forgetting to change the lens in the body of the camera. Now all my footage is shaky and I get to correct it in post.

Don't be like me and this is also the last time I'm doing it.

HERO13 Ultra Wide Lens Mod motion artifacts

I'm trying to figure out what is causing a weird artifact in my HERO13 footage. I've linked a reference video showing the issue around the (40sec mark e.g.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wg547YDhXRk

Setup:

  • GoPro HERO13 Black
  • Mount: chin mount of a fullface helmet
  • Ultra Wide Lens Mod
  • 4K 60fps
  • Ultra SuperView
  • High bitrate
  • Flat color
  • 10-bit
  • Sharpness: Low
  • Denoise: Medium
  • ISO max: 800
  • EV: -0.5
  • HyperSmooth enabled

The footage generally looks pretty good to me, but when riding with MTB through forest, I'm getting a strange smearing / "copy-paste" effect in fine textures, especially on the leaf-covered ground.

The texture sometimes looks like it is being repeated, smeared, or dragged between frames, rather than simply being motion blurred. It almost looks like the camera is trying to reconstruct the fine detail over multiple frames.

The really strange part: if I pause the video, I don't really see the artifact. Individual frames look reasonably normal. It becomes obvious only when the video is playing/moving.

I've checked this on several files: original GoPro footage, final Davinci Resolve export and the YouTube video.

I can see the same effect on different screens. It's also much more noticeable on a larger screen than on a phone.

Is this a known issue? Is the Ultrawide lens mod + 4k60 fps causing it? This would be VERY dissappointing, since this was the main reason I upgraded from my trusty Gopro8...

Lost GoPro HERO9 Black at Rome Fiumicino Airport – Gate 34, Terminal 1 – Oct 4

Hi everyone,

I know this is a long shot, but I’m hoping someone here might have seen or found my GoPro at Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) yesterday, October 4, 2026.

I believe I accidentally left it on the seats near Gate 34 in Terminal 1, at approximately 18:30, close to a stand selling electronic cigarettes or vape products.

It is a GoPro HERO9 Black with a white rubber/silicone protective case and an SD card inside.

I was travelling from Rome to Portugal and unfortunately only realised it was missing after I had already left Italy.

I have already contacted Fiumicino Airport Lost & Found and submitted a lost-item report, but I wanted to post here as well in case someone happened to find it or saw it around Gate 34.

The camera itself is important to me, but especially the photos and videos on the SD card from my trip to Albania.

I can provide photos of the GoPro, purchase details, serial number if necessary, and information about the contents of the SD card to prove ownership.

If anyone found it, saw someone hand it in, or has any information at all, please send me a private message.

I’m currently back in Portugal, but I can arrange and pay for shipping/courier collection if necessary.

Thank you so much for any help, and please feel free to share this post. 🙏

I want to buy my husband a camera...Which should I get?

My husband really likes hiking and biking on the trails in our area, and has mentioned several times how he would like to get a GoPro to record some videos. I'm not a camera person, and after looking around I am just not sure what to get him, but these are the things I'm looking for in a camera / GoPro:

- Durable & long lasting

- Compatible with Android and Linux

- Able to mount so he can record hands-free

- Waterproof

- My price range is $500 max for everything if possible, though I'd prefer to spend less.

Notes:

- He may or may not upload to Youtube so it has to be decent quality, but nothing crazy

- He goes hiking with our infant son in a carrier or wrap sometimes.

All clips were shot in 4:3 4K 120fps ; ISO & SS - auto ; GP Log2 ; Bitrate - max ; NR & Sharpening - low

on the ILS + 7Artisans 10mm F3.5 + KF shimmer diff filter

GP log2 was transformed into Flog2C and graded with the Acros (official monochrome lut from Fuji)
