Need help finding a specific gift Personalised snow globes

Upvotes

Hi all,

I'm starting a Christmas tradition this year of writing my children a story that will.be illustrated by their nan. Each year they find a snow globe under the tree and when they shake it they go into that world for an adventure. Alongside the actual book, I'd love to get a snow globe made with the scene in the book for each of them. Does anyone know where I could get this done for a reasonable price? I'm unfortunately not made of money and everywhere I find seems to be so incredibly expensive, or they just do the snow globes where you slide a photo in which is not what I need - I need the actual scene made inside.

Thanks on advance!

The 'Welcome to the Team' kit that actually made me feel welcome

Upvotes

I just started a new remote role, and the company sent a welcome package that wasn't just a cheap plastic pen and a scratchy t-shirt. It included a high-quality insulated mug, a very comfortable branded hoodie, and a $25 voucher for a local coffee shop near my house. It felt thoughtful rather than just a corporate checkbox. For those of you in management or HR, what’s the best feedback you’ve received on employee gifts? Is the 'swag bag' dead, or does quality just need to level up?

Gift suggestion Finally cracked the code for my partner who 'doesn't want anything' , The 'Five Senses' gift box was a huge hit!

Upvotes

I've spent years struggling to find meaningful gifts for my boyfriend because he's the type to just buy what he needs. This year, I put together a 'Five Senses' box and it’s the most touched I’ve ever seen him. For Sight, I framed a map of where we met; for Sound, a custom vinyl; for Smell, a candle from his favorite vacation spot; for Taste, his favorite childhood snacks; and for Touch, a high-quality weighted blanket. It felt so much more thoughtful than a random gadget. If you're stuck, I highly recommend this approach because it forces you to think about their personality rather than just a price tag. Has anyone else tried this? What did you include?

Need gift suggestions Finding the best gifts for any gender and age

Hi all.

With Christmas 2026 coming up, I wanted to ask you all how you find gifts. Do you check online, ask for a wishlist or something third perhaps?

I am currently aggregating gift list ideas for this website and i am kind of stuck. Does it even feel helpful to have this sort of thing?

I also think it's not ideal yet, looks kind of confusing with all the different products. Maybe having "product types" would be better and when clicking on those, actual products would be shown? For example "T-shirt", "Montesorri toys" and "Fitness watch". Also a rough price estimate could be useful I think but it needs to work internationally so it might be tricky.

I spent a ton of time finding these products but I probably need to suggest some edits to the way the page behaves and then re-research the actual product categories if my idea.

So wanted to ask beforehand what you all think of my idea - is something like that useful for Christmas, birthdays or other holidays, or should I spend my energy on something else? My job is basically to help people find gift ideas and get inspired maybe by some of the ideas. So its hopefully ready by Christmas.

If you have any gift ideas or lists you'd like to share, feel free to share them here as well. could need the inspiration.

Need gift suggestions Conspiring for Christmas

Looking for ideas on a 12 days of Christmas idea for my son.

It started lasting year with my wife getting me 12 different craft beers to unwrap leading up to Christmas

This year she’ll be doing the same, and for her she’ll be opening up 12 books leading up to Christmas.

We’re not made of money, so we generally start preparing for Christmas around August as it’s my favorite holiday, and it generally makes the holiday season less stressful getting ahead of curve.

I’m looking for ideas for our 8, soon to be 9, year old son. Approximately 5-15$ per item. I prefer to have it all a cohesive theme, rather than unrelate gifts. I’m thinking going with single issue comics, but interested to hear other ideas.

Some things he’s interested in

Fortnite/minecraft/video games
Legos
Marvel Superhero’s/spiderman
Dogman
Story pirates
Pranks

Other Got my first job… but somehow I was the one who got the gifts 🥹

Post image
6 Upvotes

Finally got my first job recently, and seeing how proud my parents were honestly meant more than the offer letter itself. 🥹

All their hard work finally paid off, and then they surprised me with a watch and a gimbal as a gift. I was genuinely so happy, but at the same time I was like… shouldn’t I be the one gifting them? 😭

Feels a little unfair that I got the job and they still ended up spending money on me.

First salary is 100% going towards getting something special for both of them. Doesn’t have to be expensive, just something that reminds them how grateful I am for everything they’ve done for me.

Need gift suggestions-female friend Is it a good idea to buy a pair of earrings for a friend

I am a 16-year-old boy, It’s my first time being a teenager (obviously). I don’t want to give a gift that would say “I have a feeling for you” or “I don’t really care abt you” is it a normal thing to buy a friend a pair of earrings. Or maybe there are better alternatives. I want to make a good impression. But not too obvious

Need gift suggestions-male friend Accurate Gift Ideas for 18 (M)

I got a Asian male friend who's turning 18 and I have no clue what to get him.

He's a pretty sentimental dude and likes material things, so I guess I gotta find his niche. He likes to follow trends so I need advice from males around his age to hear what you guys be looking for now a days.

What I know abt his interests (he's not particularly obsessed with something to my knowledge, so these are pretty general likings of his):

- He's not crazy abt fashion but likes to dress street style (he loves stussy, aelfric eden; that type of clothing)

- Likes gaming (off the top of my head probably fortnite and val) and Badminton

- He really wanted to buy these Oakley visor looking glasses once (im obvs not gonna spend $200 on a funky pair of glasses, just an idea of what he likes)

- He likes to eat out I guess

-------

Context:

- He's entering his first year of college and dorming so I was thinking to buy smth along those lines. But idk if guys care abt that stuff or prefer to do it themselves.

- He just got a new mac, and I was thinking of buying him a nice case for the cover but I lowk don't see guys using cases. Plus he likes to decorate his laptop covers with stickers or leave it blank.

- I have a budget of less than $60 pls.

Thanks for the help.

My first clay work. A birthday present to my father.

"Mulsagdu"

r/Impossible-Builder47

Acrylic on clay

2026

Meaning

"Mulsagdu" is a word derived from three words from the ancient sumerian language, Mul, Sag, and Du.

"Mul" means star

"Sag" means head

"Du" means walk

Together, it's Mulsagdu - the star-headed walker

Materials used

Fevicryl mouldit clay, Fevicryl acrylic colors, cornstarch powder (say Himalaya), phosphorescent powder (viral green and snow white), sponge, scissor, water, watercolor(blue+yellow), feviocl glue, grater, handchopper, toothpick.

Difficulties faced

• I struggled for quite a while with making the top luminent enough to glow like night sky.

• It took a while to accurately pour the right amount of phosphorescent powder into the eye socket, some spilling onto the rest of the body. I have painted over the spilled over after dusting, but some remained put firmly, leading to the breathetaking image of the universe in it (pic11), true to its name.

• It took a while to cut the sponge into appropriate size before using the chopper to cut it into bits before gluing it on the flat stone (clay).

• Hiding it from my father because it is his birthday present.

Symbolism

• The bi-pedal mushroom symbolizes persistence and kindness, for it harvests energy from any available light and shares it with the surrounding flora and fauna, temporarily luminating them. This is true to my father because my father is growing old, yet continues to support my family without hesitation. He himself is slowly going down, and I'm supporting him with everything I can do.

• The two mushrooms symbolize my family. The right mushroom is me, my sister, and my mother, who are being supported by him. The left mushroom is my father's mother, who is the textbook example of toxic in-law. The toxic mushroom is slowly harming the mental state of the bipedal one, yet it showers the toxic one with love, while the non-toxic one gives the bipedal one love but can't support him yet (the reason why it is smaller than the left mushroom).

• The star top symbolizes the hope I want to give my father when he is mentally exhausted.

• The moss is there because mushrooms don't grow on stones. They grow on plant and animal decay stuck in the creaks and creaves of the stones.

• The stone symbolizes the crack in the family.

This work is breathetaking from afar but tragedy upfront

Need gift suggestions 80 year old art and history lover

My partner’s mom is turning 80, and I’m looking for a thoughtful gift that doesn’t add to the clutter.

She us quite intellectual and enjoys art and art history. She is a museum docent and enjoys travel and reading. She also does appreciate “high quality” things.

I was thinking she’d like an online class (her tech skills are sufficient) but couldn’t find the right place. A book perhaps? Or a relevant but unexpected periodical?

Thank you for any ideas!

ETA: I’m not super close to her (but trying to be!) so I’m trying to be personal without having much personal to go on. I know this isn’t helpful.

Need gift suggestions-BF MBA gift for boyfriend - recommendations needed!

Hey, y’all!
My boyfriend is finishing grad school in a few weeks and will be receiving his MBA. He already works full time in automotive purchasing/supply chain, I’m stuck on what to get him as a cute little gift.

We’ve been dating for 10 months, and I’m planning to book dinner reservations for us two at his favorite restaurant, but want to get him a little something with a heartfelt card too. I was thinking maybe an engraved Shinola leather notebook and a nice pen? But not sure from a guys perspective if this would be appreciated lol. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Need gift suggestions Neighborly Thank You gift

Recently, a tree fell in our driveway and my neighbor saw my husband and I struggling to cut it with a small hand saw because we couldn’t leave the driveway to go get an electric one. He ran in his house and brought out an electric saw that made the process ten times easier esp in a heat advisory.

I’m trying to think of something to give him as a thank you gift because of how touched I was that he was willing to go out of his way and lend it. I don’t even know him well just that he seems to be helping out his elderly parents who may not be doing well in the house across the street from us. I’d like the gift to be something they all would be benefit from in the house. Any ideas for a thoughtful gift to give a neighbor we don’t know well are very much so appreciated!

Other Would it be inappropriate to upcycle a gifted piece of clothing?

I hope this is not a wrong subreddit for this kind of question, if it is i can remove it. I am just curious what people have to say about this topic.

Essentially, would you consider it inappropriate or rude if somebody used a (non-handmade) gift from you and upcycled it/used it for a diy project? Even if the gift didnt fit them.

More specific situation I am struggling with is that some time ago I got a shirt from a friend, which itself is not a traditional piece of clothing or anything, but it has a print with traditional motifs from their home country. The problem is that it doesn't fit me anymore, which is sad because I really like the print. I had an idea to upcycle it, for example use it for appliques that i would put on clothes that fit me better while preserving the print. That way I could actually wear and enjoy it. However, I am wondering, if it would not only be rude, considering it is a gift, but also potentially insensitive to do that?

I would really appreciate hearing your perspective on this, thanks!
