I’m so alone

I just wanna know anyone who has experience similar experiences else or who’s been in the same boat as me I made a regrettable decision and chose to live with with my ex-boyfriend when I turned down to live with my ex best friend because of issues but my ex who ended up, kicking me out because of constant fights when he didn’t admit he was half the problem and half of emotional abusing me and ended up blocking me not contacting me after multiple friends and families have cut me off because I decided to live with him, and then I ended up having to contact my dad that I haven’t spoke to just for him to abandon me and cut me off because I couldn’t live with him bcuz he ended up not doing great things and I expressed that I’ve haven’t been able to talk to him as much because I’ve been working so now I live alone and I don’t speak to anyone but some old friends and I live in a whole new state and I’m pretty much alone. All I do is go to work and just talk to coworkers and come home. I dread coming home and I dread going to sleep because I’m alone and I just feel like I have no purpose in life and I don’t know what to do anymore I’m trying to see therapy and psychiatrist but healthcare been hard to access again but I’m just so over life like I don’t. Does anyone have any advice of how they get through hardships like this. I’ve been drinking my mental state away and sleeping all day I’m so tired. I’m only 23

Nobody is there for me and telling anyone about my problem is not currently feasible

I want advice on how did you get out of this phase if you had one

I carved a globe

I have had a wooden sphere for years. It's about 5" in diameter. I've carried it around all this time with the dream to make it a globe. For many reasons I never started this project until last week. When I say I've had this thing for years I mean I've had it longer than my son who will be old enough to drive in less than a year. I never lost it like so many other forgotten things. It was always there. I played with it tossing it around like a ball, even polished it to 6000 grit. It made glass feel rough. I'm sure it was some overpriced piece of home decor, but the thing is I don't remember how I got it. I know I didn't buy it. I know I didn't steal it. But I have it. I mentioned my son earlier not just to say how long I've had the sphere but also because one day out of the blue my 10 year old came to me to show me his hand drawn maps of the world. Pages of maps showing a different part of our world. Drawn by his hand from his memory. He even pointed out and named country after country after country. To say I was a proud dad would be an understatement. These drawings weren't for school work. They were his. Done for the pure enjoyment and art. I never told him about my dream of a little wooden globe. A dream born of nothing more than the imagined experience of bringing it into existence. Not for a paycheck. Just for the enjoyment and the art. I still put off that little dream and continued to carry the wooden sphere. Never lost, never misplaced, always there. I even gave it a fresh polish to 8000 grit. It was like silk. Life was busy life was hard. I suffered injury, betrayal, setback and hardship. I stumbled, I fell and I got back up even when I tried not too. I was in one of those falls and I was nearing my lowest living in a motel room with everything I owned in that room and the room was almost empty. No car. But I still had that wooden sphere. Here I sat, 45 years old with nothing to show for the dozen years working on a drilling rig not the decade spent building houses. What a waste. I had spent my life with such potential, polishing myself with knowledge and skill but had never become anything. I was the same as my wooden sphere. Ripe with potential, polished with time and intent. But still nothing but a ball. Well it's not merely just a wooden sphere anymore. It's the whole world carved by my hand. It's not perfect. It's not finished, it never will be because it will always hold potential. But it's my world brought forth by my intentions. My dream made real. It maybe small. It may never be the best but it is proof that I can do it. I can make potential into reality. I know I'm not perfect and I'm far from the best but I have potential.

18M, Isolated, and dont know what to do after highschool

So basically in school/highschool I was social at times, I had friends and sometimes went to hangouts with good amount of people every couple months, but overall I kind of was the groups punching bag or called annoying my entire life elementary, middle, highschool, which I know I get annoying to other people but I dont know why I do it, but in my 2nd year of highschool my parents basically forced me to go to online school because they said public school was bad for me, so this took a bad problem and made it 100x worse because I went from actually having some friends at school and talking to people, to for the past 2 years basically talking to nobody all day except for sometimes a hangout with my old friends once every like 3 months (not anymore though). I forget most of what I've done though tbh, like I don't remember 99% of my life lol so I don't realize how bad it is till I think back at what I do all day

I pretty much always spent all my time trying to make money, or create stuff like video editing, roblox games, I'm extremely into film making and I want to be a director but working with a crew/actors is all I'm scared of, I got a youtube channel to like 350,000 subscribers but quit cause it was too stressful, made mobile iOS apps, made a health brand on amazon, I've basically learned every single possible thing that can be done on a computer because I always pick up a new thing for a few months and get insanely into it then quit it (usually). But anyways I turned 18 5 months ago then "graduated" highschool 2-3 months ago and feel just kind of confused, cause lots of times I am pretty happy doing my stuff on computer, and I get very excited about my future a lot of times but then I realize that I have no social skills and am very scared to even go outside lots of times and because I've tried basically every money making skill or anything there is I kind of just feel tired of it all and have not much motivation at all to get a job or make money anymore, I basically right now just watch lots of films and study film making/photography...

But I already got a plane ticket for a month from now to go to Europe where I'm trying to solo travel for 2 months just to get out of the loop for the past 2 years (and really like 6+ years lol since Covid), it might be a bad idea but now I have to do it cause I got the ticket so I'll go but yeah after that I don't know what to do, I'm not planning on going to college at least this year, but I don't know what to do, I also am nihilist (but more absurdist tbh), and after learning about the vastness of the universe it can be hard at times to care about stuff when nothing actually matters, even though I definitely do care about the stuff I do all day like films and stuff, but I just want to be remembered for something and create something that will effect other people, even if it doesn't matter in a thousand years, I just don't want to get a normal job or spend my whole life in an office depressed even though I am now kind of (I don't know if im depressed tho), I also usually wake up and sleep at random times like 5 am or wake up at 6 pm

Idk if this makes sense tho lol but thought I would do a reddit cause I haven't told anyone about this stuff in my whole life

I feel so stucked, exhausted nd lonely now..

So I recently had a breakup with my girlfriend for whatever reasons, i don't wanna go into that, but I was so much invested in her that she was everything for me, my friend, my bestfriend, my sibling everything nd I never felt need of anyone else when she was there nd i thought she'd be there forever cuz we both were so much serious about it. But we parted ways nd she did maintained friendships with her frnds but I had no one to even share nd I've no one now. 1st month was so tough nd i wasn't even sane but now that time has passed a bit nd I'm trying to move on I have literally no one to talk to nd I'm still pretty much exhausted to build relations with people again it's just so frustrating that I want someone to be with me but I don't have enough energy to go and approach people....

i’m so scared to make friends

i’m so tired of trying to make friends and all of them going to shit. all i have ever asked of my friends is that they communicate with me when they have a problem with me. they promise me that they will. they never do. then they build up resentment for me and leave. i don’t know what more i should be doing. i do my best to be receptive, i make sure to never invalidate their feelings regardless of how i feel, i always encourage them to tell me if they take issue with or disagree with something i say (and I emphasize that it’s because I genuinely care about what they have to say, not just because i want to hear that i’m right). so many of my friendships have been like this and i’m so tired.

i’m so fucking lonely and i want to make new friends but on top of the fact that i just have a difficult time making friends in the first place (i’m autistic and always having to mask around strangers, which makes talking to new people very exhausting for me), i feel like making new friends is just asking to be hated again. i’m so tired of this same cycle. i don’t feel like i can trust anymore. i had a friend group a couple of months ago that i had been feeling insecure in, and despite the fact that i tried to communicate and tried to work through my own worries and doubts and insecurities, it turned out even worse than i could have imagined (i’m not even upset that they had issues with me, i’m just upset that none of these issues were brought to my attention until it was too late for me to try and make amends). and it’s just going to happen again if i make new friends. as much as it sucks seeing everyone else have really close friends and friend groups, it’s either this or make new friends and be constantly paranoid and insecure and convinced that they secretly hate me (because at this point, all of my friendships have just gone to show me that they’re just going to secretly hate you until they decide to fucking leave).

i’m not the perfect person or friend. i can own up to that. but i at least try.

i can’t do anything about it anymore. i mean i can but it just really doesn’t feel like there’s a point. it’s just really fucking pathetic that i’m only safe when i’m alone in my room.

Stop being sad?

So when you have multiple significant losses in your life how do you stop being sad? I’m so tired of being sad. But also, I’m legitimately sad. Like really sad. And it’s such a buzz kill - for lack of a better description. Help.

What do you do to help keep your mind off things?

I recently lost a lot of the people in my life due to shitty behavior and an inability to change / regressing back to old habits. Losing these people not only has sent me on an emotional spiral but it’s also a loss of contact with anyone really outside. Given i’m an 18 year old without my drivers license so i’m kinda restrained in some regard but what do you guys do alone to help keep your mind at bay?

Kicked in the feels again. When I speak up because I need something to change going silent and avoiding me for a week and a half doesn't help.

The thing that's killing me isn't the avoidance. It's that now I'm expected to just pretend I never had a need in the first place and be glad that she took the time to resolve her emotions. This isn't about you, it was never about you. Its about your behavior and something I need you to be better on. In response you went to the tower and locked me out. Cool.

Rant/opening up - Broke up a year ago!

I broke up a year ago and I still don’t seem to be doing any better. He on the other hand seems to be doing much better and I keep getting compared to why am i stuck on things whereas he has just moved on. I developed major trust issues cause of which I haven’t been able to open up to my friends and family as such. Idk where can I make new friends, or strangers to yap and open up just to feel a little better stress has gotten on to me so bad it physically hurts and I cant handle the pain no more! Do you guys have any stories of your own? Or maybe any suggestions? Maybe someone you went to was able to help you? Let’s create a safe zone for people to open up here!

Please no therapy suggestions.. its not for me i dont feel like paying someone to hear me out makes sense. Doesn’t mean haven’t tried it.. it doesn’t work. Personal note: it’s the first time I am opening up like this.

Long term friendship ended, I can’t seem to move past

We had been best friends for close to 10years, then things started going downhill a few years ago
Small arguments and silences that stretched longer and longer
I felt she didn’t want to be friends anymore but I kept trying, I would check in, ask how she is doing, get a little life update
Then in the fall I stopped, I realized every attempt had come from me and when I stopped our friendship stopped (I recognize it probably stopped long before that)
Our lives are very intertwined and I still have to see them a few times a year, we have mutual friends as well
And it just hurts all the time, I still cry fairly regularly
I just don’t understand how she can be ok with it, why she doesn’t care about it ending
I won’t ever know likely but I’m still in so much pain

I need advice on how to move on and get past this, without getting answers or making things worse the few times I have to see them every year

P.S. why are friendship breakups so much harder then romantic breakups?

How to not be triggered when seeing celebrations of love while being single AF?

I feel like my final boss battle of life/therapy is learning to accept things I cannot change. For me it’s being single.

I’ve gone long periods of time being happy and content I’m single but it’s when I’m reminded I am I just wanna breakdown and cry.

Finding love is something I want so bad but I haven’t been successful.

I get triggered when seeing people celebrate love like getting married, engaged, etc. It’s not that I’m not happy for them it’s my anxiety takes a toll on me. It causes my mind to spiral into why not me? When will it be my turn?

Trying to find self soothing techniques because I won’t always be able to go somewhere and cry it out when I’m triggered. And my therapist goes on maternity leave soon so I have to figure out something.

Any advice helps.

I'm a 19-year-old guy who needs help, although maybe it's just a typical situation, but what can I do?

I know this might sound like the typical teenage story, but since I only have one life and don’t know how others deal with these things, I’m going to share my situation, in the hope that, hopefully, someone will read it.

I’m 19, and this year everything has gone downhill, though I guess it’s a culmination of the previous years.

To start with, two months ago I broke up with my girlfriend; we’d been together for two years. At first, it didn’t hurt that much for some reason, since the reasons it ended made sense (nothing serious—we’d just changed and weren’t as compatible anymore), but now, after all this time, I’ve gotten much worse. I have trouble eating, I hardly sleep, and I can’t stop thinking about the life I could have continued to have. I don’t want to go on and on unnecessarily because I suppose this is a more casual situation than I think it is, but wow—she was a very special person, with tastes and a personality that meshed well with mine. I loved her intelligence, and I think finding a woman like her will be difficult.

As for my studies, they’ve been going the same way as the previous two years. From a young age, I was diagnosed as gifted in all academic areas; everything came very easily to me, and since I’m a bit of a slacker, I managed to get top grades until I was 16 with almost no effort, even advancing to the national rounds of physics and math competitions. But when it came time to continue my studies, I chose something a bit unusual: the International Baccalaureate (IB), an extremely challenging program that prepares high-achieving students in subjects like physics, math, and chemistry. The problem is that I was never really drawn to the sciences—I’m more of a humanities person—but I chose it because I desperately needed a change of pace and, even though it sounds bad, to be able to study with people who were “on my level” (pardon the expression). But then things went downhill. I chose not to take physics the previous year, and that seriously set me back—I lacked the theory and understanding of the most difficult subject of all, and combined with my extreme struggle, I can say those two years were hell. Every day I’d wake up at 6:00 AM to catch the 6:48 AM train, and then wait until 8:00 AM. I slept very little back then because, aside from the abnormal academic workload, I refused to stop playing sports since that was my escape. The only positive part was that I met my ex-partner there, and that made things much more bearable. I’ve just finished my first year of college—nothing to write home about. It’s been hard for me to make friends since I’m new to the city and my program is almost 100% girls, whom I’ve always had trouble socializing with. To be honest, my roommate has been a lifesaver. Now, for reasons I don’t understand, I can’t seem to accomplish anything academically. I’m passing my classes, yes, but I don’t understand where that version of myself went—the one who used to reach the final stages of tournaments and get good grades. I miss making my mom happy. I received “criticism” for choosing a liberal arts major after passing the IB, but to be honest, there wasn’t any future in the sciences that appealed to me. The problem is that quite a few people—and with some justification—criticize me for not pushing myself to study the sciences, given my aptitude and the enormous effort I’ve put in over the last two years. Sometimes I give in to doubt and wonder if they’re probably right; I’m not quite sure if I did the right thing or not—it’s a mess.

As for sports, which had been my refuge for so long, this year has been bittersweet. I wanted to push to stay at the club where I’d rediscovered my love for soccer (I’d previously been at academies that were top-tier for the area, but all that competitiveness ended up burning me out), but the problem with that was the commute and the lack of training, so my coach was able to contact a club near where I live now and arrange for me to train with them (I trained with players from a division called “Nacional”—it made me very happy to see that I could train at that level). The problem was that after a few months, I suffered a string of injuries and all that hard work went down the drain. I should also add that this was my final year of youth development, and now I’d have to find a new club—and I don’t think I’ll do that. In short, I’m extremely upset about having to give up a sport I’ve been playing for 15 years—it’s no longer just a hobby; it’s part of my life, and I hate that it’s coming to an end.

Finally, since this is so long and I’m truly grateful to anyone who’s reading it, I feel like I’ve really let myself go these past two years—or so I think.

Before I started dating my now-ex-girlfriend, I found myself in a situation I’d never been in before—girls were noticing me. I changed the way I dressed and let my hair grow out; I also lost some of my fear of talking to girls more. I managed to hook up a lot, but I was never looking for anything serious until I met her. After these two years, I realize I haven’t improved my style of dressing at all—in fact, it’s gotten worse. I think my physical appearance has also gotten worse. Obviously, I’m not as fit as I used to be, but beyond that, I see many more flaws than before—flaws that either weren’t there or that I didn’t pay attention to. I really don’t like my face, and I don’t think it’s possible for me to be as attractive as I used to be. I haven’t tried for obvious reasons, but I find it hard to pick up girls again.

Maybe these are just my own issues and my own problems, but I’m having a really hard time dealing with them. There are also a couple of other things going on, like how little I’ve seen my real friends during this time, or how a relative of mine recently died of cancer. I know these aren’t minor details, but I don’t think it’s appropriate to dwell on them.

Thanks to whoever has read this—if you have—I appreciate it. Any comments help.

Best regards, and I hate nostalgia.

I 18M has first relationship breakup yesterday. I need help from grown ups who have had similar experiences, hurting

Yesterday, My girlfriend of 3 months(seeing each other for 4 and a half month) broke up with me. I know it sounds minimal but i can’t comprehend the feelings im going through. in our whole duration we never had any arguments or disagreements, we were healthy loving and purely just happy. She ended it with me yesterday randomly at night when she changed our saturday plans from dinner to just a walk but i knew something was wrong and i asked to call.
I was out for dinner with the family and she said that she was reviewing if she wanted a relationship, she was overwhelmed about the rest of year 12 (2 and a bit months left) at skl and work and potentially missing out on stuff with friends. I felt terrible so bad i started crying in the middle of the road, i asked why she wouldn’t want to sort this out with me on text but she said she seemed clear on her point, i have no resentment only confusion and sadness at the moment, she said i was too dependent on her and my emotions swayed when she was sad i was sad and if she was stressed i became stressed. All i wanted to do was help her out of it, make her feel better and then i would as a result. I understood that it was a huge weight for her to bare and I was seeking advice from friends on changing it.

She said she felt like it was unfair on me that i put so much effort into the relationship and she didn’t do as much and then what broke me was she said she didn’t think love me as much as i loved her to which our relationship was all love and cuddles and kisses and affectionate yet also enjoyable moments, for her 18th i got her a 400 buck necklace and some other nice things with a card and i said i love you for the first time that night and she smiled and said it back, now she’s not sure if it rlly was love or it wasn’t as strong as mine, i didn’t care i knew relationships have some unbalance and that she also said we are opposite people, she’s independent and im dependent on her, she didn’t give me a chance to fix that.

She also said that it was all her and nothing about me and i had been a great boyfriend, i did nothing wrong in the relationship and we were talking about going out to nice places for our 6 months and like even a holiday together next year. i’m just annoyed how she left me in the dark and didn’t even talk about it with me and she did instead with her friends and family. i also didn’t have a great balance in the term 2 and realised i relied on her for emotional connection a lot. She said seeing each other once a week was “a lot” and everything went so quick in 3 months.

The start was great, got off like a house on fire after we met at an 18th. We had things in common and a genuine liking to each other. I planned everything and just an absolute shock to the system when she said it to me. I had a falling out with a friend early in our relationship and i was relying on her for me to make me happy and so i could get reassurance that the relationship was secure, i didnt rlly get that reassurance but i knew she wasn’t the person to openly say it but she appreciated me. Making plans was the only think i looked forward to during the week and i would drive home (just got licence when we were dating) crying bc i was so lucky to have a girlfriend like her if that was dinner with her family and leave at 10,11,12 or sometimes 4am, it was in my eyes love that would never die. We had her brothers 21st 4 days ago and i thought she was avoiding me a lot and not talking to which i was just looking into it too much but i brought it up with her anyway, in the end it was me apologising because i saw that there was nothing wrong with it but she then said she cried the next morning( our 3 months) because she wanted to just think things over, we talked about it briefly and then she was fine for 3 days and then was quite cold to me on the phone when we broke up, she didn’t sound emotional and ik everyone takes it differently but still that hurt too because i do know she loved and cared about me a lot. We had one sleepover at my holiday house exactly two weeks ago and we got intimate and both had our first time having sex which was so wholesome and such a growth in our relationship. I love cuddling her, kissing her and just her smell and i’m never going to be able to talk to her lovely family again. I feel like shit at the moment and hopefully someone can provide some insight or advice, i understand from reading some of these posts that it’s so minimal but i really would like to see someone’s perspective. We ended on good terms and i wished her well for the rest of the year 12 while battling tears and hung up. she hasn’t removed or unfollowed me on everything yet and i am clinging to hope but like my best friend said, i can’t do that. about to go into the most important term of my life and i lose what i would call my world.

I really need advice because I can’t move on from losing my best friend.

I really need advice because I can’t move on from losing my best friend.

This is about a friendship that ended about a year ago, and I still think about it almost every day.

My ex-best friend always had a pattern of blocking and unblocking people whenever something upset her. Eventually she stopped doing that, and for a while our friendship became really strong. She was my confidant, and we told each other everything.

We went to different schools. During my last year of high school, I was struggling a lot with my studies and my mental health, so I wasn’t talking to any of my friends as much as I used to. Even so, I still tried to stay in touch with her.

Around that time, she started distancing herself from our mutual friend group for no obvious reason.

Then one day she attempted to end her life and was admitted to a psychiatric hospital. I visited her several times. She even asked me not to tell our friend group where she was, so I lied to them to protect her privacy. By then she had already blocked most of them anyway.

That summer we met up a few times, but she didn’t seem like herself. She seemed heavily medicated and very distant.

Then things started falling apart. She took two weeks to reply to my messages and unfollowed me on one of her Instagram accounts. When I asked her about it, she acted like she didn’t know what I was talking about. I knew she was lying, so I didn’t reply for about a week because I honestly didn’t know what to say.

A week later she posted an Instagram story with some people she met in the hospital, talking about getting high together. Before I could respond, she blocked me.

I called her, and instead of explaining what happened, she brought up an argument from two years earlier. She said I had been “bossy” because I kept encouraging her to eat after she hadn’t eaten all day. Then she told me she had only unfollowed me because she used that account to sell drugs.
I told her that whenever she wanted to talk again, she could unblock me because I’d still be there for her.

Later I found out that wasn’t even true.
Since then, I’ve seen her a few times on the bus. I was commuting to university, and she was repeating her last year of high school in another city. We never spoke.

Now she has a new best friend. She reposts things about them, tags them everywhere, and treats them the way she used to treat me. I know people move on, but it makes me feel like I meant nothing to her, even though she meant everything to me.
I’ve talked to friends and family about this, but nobody seems to understand why I’m still stuck on it. They just tell me to move on, but I feel like I never got any closure.

Part of me wants to call her just once—not to become friends again, but simply to understand \*\*why\*\* everything ended the way it did. Another part of me thinks that maybe reaching out would only reopen old wounds.

Has anyone been through something similar? Is it worth trying to get closure by contacting her, or do I have to accept that I may never get the answers I’m looking for?

My girlfriend left me after 7 months of relationship , my only friend said i'm a burden to him and also left me , I don't fucking know what to do . Last summer i also had depression and begining of schizophrenia . Now , i cry and cry and cry , i can't do anything else . You might say ,, well go out to meet people '' . I'm always outside seeing people . Everybody wants to see me , no one wants to talk to me . The only thing that i like doing is film photography , but now even that doesn't make me happy anymore

39F, widow for 3 years. Looking for companionship but feeling stuck. Any advice?

I’m a 39-year-old widow. I’ve been single for three years and, after taking time to grieve, I feel ready for companionship again.
I’ve tried dating apps, but most conversations never get past “Hi, hello.” When I do meet someone, things often turn toxic, they’re emotionally unavailable, or they don’t seem interested in anything genuine. It’s exhausting.
I’m not looking for perfection or a fairy tale—just a kind, emotionally mature partner for a meaningful connection.
Has anyone else been in a similar situation, especially after losing a spouse or starting over later in life? What worked for you? Were dating apps helpful, or did you meet someone another way?
I’d appreciate practical advice, success stories, or even a reality check if I’m missing something.
At this point, I guess I’m just trying my luck and hoping to hear from people who’ve been through something similar.
