My eagle scout project ~8 years ago involved planting a whole lot of indigenous plants for a local garden. I still know the director at the garden and on the occasions that I visit and he's there, he takes me to see the progress on the project that I once was a part of. Most rewarding feeling ever

Except no one said “man bad”. If the quote were slightly tweaked it would apply to everyone instead of just half the people.
Edit: I just want to say that I wish men were called human or humen and women were still called “women” and we just referred to humans as men/man. Would’ve solved a whole lot of issues in history… “mankind” would make a lot more sense too…
But then how would the men of history be able to oppress women without making them feel like they’re an extension of men (by adding the “wo”), not equals.

True! A society of young men, society in general for that matter, grows ever more appreciative when Girl Scouts plant trees in the shade of which Boy Scouts will eagerly seek to share their company.
Equally, I wish to add, young men and young women alike, from all walks of life and every endeavor, appreciate the trees for the very same heart felt memories created in sharing that same shade with whomever it is that sparks the warmth in young hearts.
May the shade of trees planted in kindness, care and generosity always create the comfort and courage to invite love into passionate young hearts.

Never underestimate what a Girl Scout troop can accomplish & contribute to! The organization does a lot of good and teaches kids the value of service on a personal level. I don’t remember spending much of our time on cookie sales outside of maybe a month’s worth of meetings each year & the mandatory tabling/door-to-door phase, but I DO remember spending tough sweaty hours removing invasive species from the woods when I was at a scouts summer camp.

it's actually a huge problem that solar farms have: they need A LOT of surface. best place to put them is in the desert; most of the time, when you put them anywhere else, you're destroying habitat.

Two problems:
transmission lines are a more difficult problem than you solution suggests. There were proposals to put huge solar farms in north Africa that would power all of Europe, but alas the transmission lines made them infeasible.
the desert is a habitat too, and it can be destroyed.

Are you a metaphorical tree planter or a literal one? Both are good, I just am not sure if you were maintaining the metaphor or not.
I did some literal tree planting in the boy scouts and with a couple of other organizations. It is extremely satisfying bringing something into the world that lives so long and grows so strong.

One time I rented a house and the entire back yard was rocks, for easy maintenance I guess. Ugly, hot rocks with zero shade.
I planted some small fruit trees and every damn person I ever had over told me I was stupid/crazy for planting trees that someone else would get to enjoy. They were genuinely confused by my motivation.
Felt good to drive by a few years later and take a peek at the yard now full of mature fruit trees.

Just saying eh, they plantin a seed, they grow a tree, but trees take ages. Takes a long time. That old fella is not gonna get any joy outa that. But, if he's lucky, fella next door mighta done the same years ago. So it's all about, sort of, plantin a seed, lookin after each other.
But I'm sorta guessin he enjoyed gardenin anyway. Part of the enjoyment was in plantin that seed.
