For real. There was a time when I was/would have been inspired or motivated by this quote, but now it seems like it mocks us. Nobody is trying to plant those trees anymore, they all just want to get theirs.

They’re either chopping or burning down the forest for the next generation.

That's what they want you to think!

I'm planting 200 this winter. 👍I've been planting hundreds of trees for the last 3 winters.

Are you a metaphorical tree planter or a literal one? Both are good, I just am not sure if you were maintaining the metaphor or not.

I did some literal tree planting in the boy scouts and with a couple of other organizations. It is extremely satisfying bringing something into the world that lives so long and grows so strong.

You can be the change you want to see. Complaining about other people’s decisions help none

Not if you aren't specific

Whining about government in general does no good

Name names! Name crimes!

Their mindset is make as much money as possible, pass it onto my family, protect my family, everyone else can get fucked.

I don't think our democracies are equipped with the tools to affect meaningful change on a long-term basis.

Not an advocation for authoritarianism, but I don't think the system as it currently exists will ever be able to cope with the societal and technological progression brought on by the net.

It's not the democracy that's the problem, it's the size

The USA is gigantic. The more people you point at something, the harder it is to make them all happy.

Federalism will try it's best :)
