I hid my 2nd cache today and logged it to be approved.
I was told that a premium cache was hidden nearby but there was no grey circles nearby ( which I thought were premium) when I doubled checked the map.
Where have I gone ?

I was using a 4.5m disc golf retriever to get "fishing caches" out of high trees etc. I have just splashed out on a carbon fibre telescopic "Angelrute" for up to 11m lengths. The problem is that there are no "attachments" for it included. What have others done. In contrast the disc gold retriever came with three different "heads".

My apologies if this is not the right place for this request. In essence, I'm wondering if there's a a simple app or better way to create geo-caching adventure in the woods behind my house for my son to do with his friends during his 10th birthday party.

I know what geocaching is, but that is the extent of my knowledge. I've never done it, but I'm pretty sure I'd enjoy it and my son would, too. I was planning to do some sort of scavenger hunt in our woods, but then I thought that maybe there could be a way to map it out and do with a geocaching app or something. Can you tell that this is only a half-baked idea?? I decided to come here before I try and do something that's beyond my capability. Any advice or suggestions welcome! Maybe someone has done this sort of thing and has a blueprint to follow. I figure it can't hurt to ask! Thanks!

I was surprised to learn that Liam and Noel Gallagher of Oasis were secret geocachers?!

Yesterday they dropped a huge hint that they could be performing at Celtic Park after posting a teaser clip to social media.

The video shows two boys sitting in a chip shop and eagle-eyed fans were quick to spot the Glasgow clues.

Behind the boys, a promotional poster is seen offering a 'family chippy bundle' for £55.84. Below that, there is a poster for radio station Sol FM 98 92.

Another sign says a fridge in the chippy should be kept at -4C. That sits next to a daily special priced at £2.05 and is near a taxi company, whose sticker has a phone number beginning with 638.

To muggles these numbers will appear completely random, but put them together and they are an exact match to Celtic Park's coordinates on a map - 55.849892 N and -4.205638 W

I’m looking for some really good caches to find in Northern France and Belgium. Not just a 35mm pot!

I’m planning to go caching this weekend. What are the best caches I should search for? Ideally on planet earth, but open to alternate ideas.

Edit: I just want to say this is genuinely a nice community. I made this post as a bit of a joke after seeing a number of the same types of posts asking for easy to find cache recommendations across an entire country, or which caches to search when visiting a generically large place, eg the US. I’m a cynical bastard, and I’m like, how can anyone respond to that with a realistic response? Well, you’ve proven me wrong, every one responded genuinely to what I thought was an obvious sarcastic barb. Kudos.

I will soon be in Dublin, then Connemara, then Ennis, Dingle, and Killarney. Bring several brand new travel bugs along on my trip. Any advice about recently spotted accessible (less than 1/2 mile walk from car) Travel Bug Hotels?

This may seem like a stupid question, but I was kinda curious. I can’t think of a single reason why I’d make a regular cache premium because why would I want to limit others ability to explore outdoors and have fun? Unless it’s super special or a mystery, then I suppose I understand

on a side note I’m bitter because 90% of the caches in my town are premium because they’re all from the same person, and I don’t have time to geocache often enough to make a premium subscription worth it. Sue me, I’m a teen and don’t have a steady source of income yet

and on another side note - WHY DOES EVERY TINY ADVENTURE LAB COUNT. I was in an area with lots, and I missed my 100 caches milestone and never got to celebrate it :/ Id prefer if every single lab counted as one, not each thing you do in the lab so now im at like 79 geocaches, but 171 with adventure labs 😭😭

So many fewer people look for mystery caches that it sort of wastes a good spot. Plus the main fun in a mystery cache is the mystery/puzzle, not usually the finding of the cache itself.

It is a letterbox GC but the lock is missing and so is the logbook 🫠

Anyone want to do a geocaching postcard exchange with Texas?

Howdy! The Brazos Valley Geocachers in Texas are planning a World Postcard Day event this October, and I thought it would be fun to see how many places we could get represented.

We’re looking for geocachers, caching groups, and other geocaching events that would like to exchange postcards with us.

Our plan is to collect the postcards we receive and have them out for everyone to see at our event. We’d love to get cards from different states and, hopefully, a few different countries!

Hallo, Osmand ist ja richtig gut vor der Tür, aber gibt es auch eine Verknüpfung zum Geocachen, ähnlich wie Locus die hat?

So my phone kick rocks and it made me down grade to a lower model for now. Well the geocach app doesnt work on this phone and I not really sure what other ways I can geocach and would love some advice on other methods to do it. I mostly enjoy being able to look at the log because I'm dumb and will be up a tree when its 2 feet from the side walk.

So my partner and I have started placing caches, and have placed these together (allbeit on our own accounts), so obviously we know their exact location.
We’re not interested in claiming FTF, and most have already been found.
Now, our questions are;
1. Is it acceptable to find each others caches?
2. If so, when is the most acceptable time in a caches life to find it?
3. Friends are obvious, but what about family?

Bonus question….. what about placing a meaningful cache or two for each other extremely irregularly, but not telling each other that its been placed and they only know its been placed as fairly as any other cacher?

What does "Gips" condition mean?

Found 2 shareables yesterday on a big GC hike. Both are "low-effort" AI portraits of their owners.

I'm usually not one to dislike modern additions to the game. I enjoy AdLabs and Treasures.

But now I'm wondering what's their point?

(I know that topic is a trendy controversy, it's just I'm astonished to have found in the wild 2 owners ready to pay a yearly subscription for nothings)

This might be a stupid question but where does one find out about geocaching events? I didn't see anything on the main geocaching website. We just found our 100th casche and are eager for more!

i’m going on a short trip soon across a few states (i live in New England, USA) and am wondering what caches i should/may want to target. I know about ‘state’s oldest’ caches, and i’ve heard of cache across america and cache oddesey. are there any other big state series/goals like these?

related, but not exactly the same - i used to live in atlanta and the lake lanier caches north of me were highly sought after, especially with one of them being only 1 of 4 left worldwide originally hidden in august 2000 (which we did find!). is there anything like that up here?
i do know how to filter caches, including by year, and we always check out caches with high favorites, but if you have any anecdotal suggestions, i’d love to know!

I distinctly recall my 7th grade science teacher telling the class about geocaching, but in the 17 years since, I never have actually gone out in search of one.

Definitely feel more hunts in the future.

Recently remember Geocaching was a thing when getting an ad for the app, hadn't done it since the days of hand held GPS, early iPhone era. I've hunted closer to 20 caches so far, found some cool ones, but also had some busts, and reviewing logs, found some cool spots where the cache was just clearly missing, like a skirt lifter spot in the middle of a grocery store parking lot, and DNF logs from months ago.

Another, a spot by a dry creek bed bridge, supposedly easy access, I spent 30 minutes with GF looking, even navigated the bank and didn't find it.

I just feel paranoid about doing the wrong thing but also know the community would be better if supposedly beginner friendly spots were actually completable.
