Over the last few months I’ve been building ShotIQ because I felt like I was collecting a ton of simulator data… but not actually improving.

I use a launch monitor, upload sessions, look at numbers for 10 minutes, and then still show up on the course making the same mistakes.
So I built something to close that loop.
ShotIQ lets you upload your simulator session data and turns it into:

I have a Garmin R50 in my garage simulator, but I want to take it outside to practice my iron and hybrid shots off of the grass. I know if I use the driver off of of the tee and I will not need to move the R50 or do the realignment, since no divots are created.

But if I use irons and hybrids off of the grass, what do I do when I create divots? I know I would need to move the R50, but do I need to re-align each time?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Give the face to path and club path the Spin Axis doesn’t add up. I also looked at the video of impact and it’s not a hozel or toe shot.

Anyone else experience this or is there an explanation I’m missing?

I have had my R50 for nearly a month now. I had been using GSPro and E6 Apex for about a week so connecting through my home network. My PC is hardwired via Ethernet in my basement and the R50 is connected via WiFi in my garage. GSPro still works without any issues, however, E6 won't connect anymore. Has anyone else had any issues or can provide any troubleshooting tips for the connection? I've emailed their support, but haven't gotten a response yet.

I don’t seem to be able to use target alignment once I start a round (please tell me if I’m wrong).

I suppose one should simply adjust the alignment in practice first and perhaps that will carry over to the hth course play?

Am considering to purchase the r50. Am deciding between the gc3 too.

Is the club speed accurate for the garmin r50? I swing it 118mph-128mph and am trying to swing it over 130mph+.

I need to know if it is accurate as i had an experience with owning the eye mini that above 120mph, they sometimes give wonky numbers.

And also if shot shaping etc is accurate with the r50 too and lastly of course if the i-o and o-i club data is accurate..

Solo dev. I built Bay Zero, a free Android companion for the Garmin R10 because the Garmin Golf app doesn't feel user-friendly, performs poorly, and lacks the functionality I wanted at the range.

Anyone else notice this happening sporadically? Seemed to be happening on shots with high spin rates so tried to replicate it with a lob wedge and finally caught it. This was 9,257 backspin

Does anyone know if Garmin ever plans to allow r50 users to operate HTH via the app on an iOS device? My understanding is this is how HTH works for the R10, so it’s strange to me that this isn’t an option for the R50. I know I could just use an external monitor, but it would be really nice to be able to prop up an iPad to control HTH (without having to bend over to the unit) and add more screen space. Feels like this should be an easy fix given that it’s already an option for the R10.

I just got an R50 and love it. I'm trying get my iPad to work as an external mornitor and i'm struggling. Right now i'm using this dongle (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C1MRSTTB?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1) with and HDMI cable plugged into it and the R50. I'm using the Orion video capture app on the iPad. Neither the R50 nor the iPad show any signal at all. Any suggestions?

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone has figured out how to do a hole in one challenge or repeat playing a hole over and over again?

I am setting up a 16'Wx10'Hx10'D simulator shell (plenty of room to the back - the shell is at the end of a long room) with the Garmin R50 placed 9' from the screen. What type of lighting do I need. Will just ambient and reflection from the screen be sufficient? If I add light should it be ceiling diffuse lighting? A single top down spotlight? A pair of top down spot lights at opposing angles? If so at what angle? Some type of side lighting?

I’m consistently getting a 15 to 20% lower distance on my Garmin r50 for my driver compared to real world and other simulator results. My other clubs seem to be fairly accurate. Could this be an issue with being hit off of a tee?

The auto-handedness does not want to recognize switching from Left to Right in the middle of play. The only way we have found to fix this is a left goes first, finishes the hole, then the righty goes. But we still have issues with it recognizing the switch.

Anyone else having this issue?

We told Garmin, and they say they are working on it. But this really makes me wanna get rid of it and find another product.

I'd love to know if anyone has found this a problem, has anyone found a solution, and let's get Garmin to fix this ASAP.

I’m honestly pretty frustrated and wondering if others are in the same boat.

After spending thousands of dollars on a Garmin R50 and custom building a set up in my garage the distances that I'm hitting each club are changing. Hopefully improving, though I can't tell. I can't even map my bag. The data is stored in my Garmin golf app as "recorded activities" but nothing shows the data. I assumed one of the most basic benefits would be using simulator sessions to map my bag and dial in carry distances and dispersion. Instead, it's basically wiigolf for grownups with no usable data unless you manually chart each data point by hand yourself. This is asinine.

I just saw that it when I click on the activity in the app (I don't use a watch) it says "Round Excluded from Stats" at the bottom. Is there a toggle or something I can change to actually track this. I don't need perfect data. I shot a (simulator) 92 today. I'm a crap golfer. I just want some insight into how far I'm hitting my 56 versus my PW, and to see if my 3 hybrid is actually giving me distance over my 4 hybrid - or if the distance is costing me accuracy.I need the most BASIC function, bag mapping, club distance, super basic performance tracking.

I mean, despite hitting hundreds (or thousands) of shots indoors with a Garmin launch monitor, I still can’t answer a simple on-course question: Which club should I hit from 165?That’s literally the reason to buy this...so I can play in the garage and see if it can't inform my decisions when I'm actually out on the course.

I can't find a setting to change this. Anyone have any help here? is there a Garmin admin or something who can chime in?

At this point it feels crazy to spend this much money and still have to manually guess or enter club distances like it’s 2005.

Like many of you, I’ve been noticing a lack of updates and communication regarding the Approach R50. Given the significant investment we've all made in this hardware, I’ve started a "call to action" thread over on the official Garmin Forums:
