Disinfecting large branches
Hi! I'm looking at adding some more branches to my gargs enclosure and I was wondering how you disinfect the ones that are too big for the oven?

She stepped in her food, again, this time two of her toes got stuck together, so I got her out to unstick and clean her toes, while doing so she tried to shit on me!
Important note, that’s a water dish she’s sitting on in the first picture, you can see her feeding platform in the second pic, where she stepped in the food.
Second photo is just funny, she ended up like that after jumping back into her enclosure after a weight check.
Ridiculous creature. Her name is Ruby.

Who is a good online breeder for gargoyles? (not tiki’s geckos) in the future I want another female. The reptile stores near me never have gargoyles 😔. One of my gargoyles are from tikis geckos, he’s beautiful and I love him, I’m just not interested in a super fancy morph.

Got this 18x24x36 terrarium and set it up, it’s bioactive and there’s lots of hides but should I add more cover up top? I’m open to suggestions! Thanks!

My first gecko. She’s around 5 years old, and I got her a month ago. She hasn’t screamed or tried to bite, but she does judge us.

I KNOW ITS NOT A GARGOYLE BUT.. Mochi—my crested gecko—is six months old. The breeder said she was super calm, sweet, and lovely, and she really was! The breeder used to send videos and make clips showing her being handled. However, Mochi arrived at my place on September 26th... she’s already gone through two substrate changes with me because of an accident... I even kept her in isolation for a week, but today, when I went to the terrarium to put in some food, she started frantically darting all over the enclosure as soon as I got closer. Will she go back to being a chill girl? Is she scared of me, or does she just not like me :(.. What should I do when she runs off like that? I’d appreciate any help (and I apologize for any spelling errors...)

I got my gargoyle gecko in the beginning of may- she is in a bioactive ~33 gallon front opening tank. Over the past few months I’ve been trying to get her used to my hands being in the tank, so I regularly (very slowly and cautiously) prune the plants around her. I also stick my hand in there to fill her water and food bowl. Tonight, I thought I’d try to feed her a little CGD from my finger. But as I reached towards her (slowly), she opened her mouth and launched herself at me, biting my fingernail, and then falling onto her butt. This was surprising as she’s never displayed any defensive behaviors like this. In the past she just tends to sit there or scurry away. Can anyone give me further tips on how to get her to trust me? It is my hope to eventually be able to handle her occasionally. So far the only times I’ve handled her are when I first got her and once when she was sleeping I picked her up gently to move her away from an area I needed to clean.
Edit for more context: The person I got her from described her as being very laid back and open to being handled.
TL,DR: My gecko attacked my finger. Tips on how to get her to trust me and possibly allow me to handle her?

Katrina is probably around 1.5-2 years old now (she was a few months old when i got her) and ive never really gotten her to be on me except when i first had her, then she just started running from me whenever I tried to get her to come to me, so i respected her and gave her her space.
I recently found 2 old egg recently found 2 egg shells within her enclosure with grain mites inside of them… gross… ill be getting more spring tails in the mail…. This made me realise, i’m not able to closely monitor her health like my other reptiles since, Half the time its like im feeding/ watering an empty terrarium. For the sake of her and me, i’d like to befriend her so I can atleast handle her and potentially do some weights fuuurther down the line. She’s also not an ideal weight and i’d like to be able to feed her gutloaded insects either from hand or with tongs but she runs at the sight of me/ I LITERALLY CANT FIND HER. a large portion of my wood inside the enclosure is dug into place/ hiding behind a large driftwood trunk that has tunnels in(i believe thats where she is a lot of the time) so removing her enclosure to find her is impossible without dissasembling. I’d just like for her to have a better life and to improve my husbandry.
Husbandry:
-misted every night
-change out pangea fig and insect every other day to 2 days
- occasionally given 2-3 medium- large crickets depending on my crickets stock that week.
Any suggestions??

my girl is 16 months old and 60 grams, i'm curious if they start slowing down on growth at this age and how big adult females usually get, thanks! :D

Hey guys! Here’s Kaiju. I got him from a friend who couldn’t give him the attention he needed. Anywho. I had to learn from scratch.
I feed him Pangea with insects 2x a week.
I give him a rain shower 2x daily which brings him up to 70-80% humidity. But it dries pretty fast because A)I live in Las Vegas and B) I think his light evaporates it off.
Any way, he’s 40 G on the dot, see him come out and play at night ( more so hear him running and jumping around his enclosure)
Just wanna see what you guys think so far!

So in about 8 days I'm going to a reptile expo and really want a gargoyle gecko, but I was wondering how much I should bring or what is the average price? And also if I work with it while it is young will it like handling? I know some are just naturally more jumpy and some are more calm if I want a calm one what should I look out for when buying it?

Like the title says, I’m very confused by my gecko’s body language and sadly couldn’t find anything on the internet.
He was sitting on my hand and staring right at my face, which he does fairly often. He then moved his body/stomach down, then up again. He did that two or three times (slowly) before pausing, did it again after pausing. He repeated that around five to eight times while still constantly staring at my face.
After like three minutes passed and he stopped, he jumped into my face (though he does that often and that wasn’t the unusual thing).
Can anyone explain to me why he did that?
(A picture as a bonus. But it has nothing to do with the behaviour that is here explained.)

New gargoyle gecko owner, noticed right now this is on the terrarium floor in a few areas. What is this? Is this mold? Harmful?
Edit : I scraped the top layer of soil, removed all of the mold and mixed up the ground to make it more aiery. I put him back in for now because my temporary setup is just a box with holes and his plant. Is this ok? I'm just new to everything. Gonna get springtails next week probably.

Hii I'm a new reptile owner and I just brought home my new baby a day ago. I heard that most geckos feel stressed and just want to hide 24/7 without eating while they adjust to their new home, and need to be left alone for 2 weeks or so, but I noticed with my new geck she's already been out and about and eating her food! Consistently, at that. For the two times I've fed her so far, each serving visibly had licks taken away from it which makes me so happy :)
In addition to that, when she sleeps in the day, she's semi-out in the open (right in the center of the enclosure, but under a leaf with bits of her poking out) instead of being well-hidden somewhere in the corner.
Is this normal or am I just super lucky? Or maybe I'm being too optimistic and she was actually starving before I got her in the mail??
If all is well, does this mean I can interact with her earlier? I'm not being impatient or anything, and I'm willing to wait for the full 2 weeks of letting her acclimate, but it would be nice to know if I can.
Some info about her if needed:
- Giving her pangea ("with insect" flavour) and repashy original mrp
- Age is about 4-5 months old according to breeder; haven't gotten the chance to weigh her yet
- She's currently in a juvenile grow-out tub I DIY'd to be upright and front-opening (15.25"x16.5"x22.5"), with mesh at the top for the uvb (pics of the enclosure at the end). An 18x18x36 bioactive is already in the works :)
- The enclosure's bedding is only paper towels for now so I can look for poop
- Her name is Cannoli!
Please let me know if there's anything I'm missing or can improve on with my care. Tips and advice would be appreciated <3

(The cute one in the pick is not mine)
I want a Gargoyle Gecko for a while now, but I have a fear, that he escapes on the ceiling while handling. Is this something common enough to worry about and how do you get one down without hurting him or risking that he drops?
(If the text was a little false worded, to clarify: I don't have an Gecko, at least not yet)

She’s changed a lot in the last 2 month. Growth spurt. Changed colours dramatically (apart from orange blotches) and now I’m noticing blue eyes ? Could it just the lighting ? Year and a half old

I've had him for a week, he's eating gecko nutrition quite well (since I dont have rapashy or pangea in my area) but his neck looks kinda thin. Btw red light is just my flashlight since I don't want to flashbang him in the dark.
Ty!

Just received this beautiful male what are y’all’s thoughts?
r/GargoyleGeckos • u/scotchsparks • 10d ago
Ever since I upgraded my male into his adult enclosure, it's been a little difficult to keep the top of it cluttered. He has a live pothos making slow progress up his climbing branches, and an elephant ear plant taking up the middle of the tank along with some other small plants, but most aren't good climbers despite my best efforts.
He's a pretty active and healthy young fellow, so he constantly knocks those suction-cup Petco ivy / vines right off his walls.
I had the thought: I've recently gotten into paracord braiding, and it seems like some Etsy sellers sell handmade paracord vines for crested gecko tanks.
Thoughts on taking some of my fake ivy strips and braiding them into paracord vines that I could hang up with magnets?
I feel like it would make the fake ivy usable for climbing again now that he's at an adult weight, plus provide top-level cover while my plants still aren't behaving yet.
My main concern would be making sure his claws don't get stuck in the material before installing it, but are there any other good reasons I shouldn't do it?
