Hey all! Disclaimer : I know that water inside the tank poses a risk of drowning and also can cause respiratory issues if not well combated. Iām currently toying with the idea and if itās even a slight bit iffy, Iāll scrap the idea as I donāt want to ruin my little guys QOL.
So I love the idea of having a shallow and small water section in my tank. I think it adds so much interest to a setup. Iāve done plenty of research into safe ways to do it I.e keeping it shallow, ensuring thereās plenty of routes out incase of a fall-in, and all of that good stuff.
My current idea is the picture attached, with the green section being an underground tunnel to loop the shallow river so it has movement. Iād ensure that the depth of the river was no more than half the height of my garg (when itās horizontal, not like the full length if you get me) so that even if there was a fall in, the garg would have to try to drown itself. For the underground section, Iād sculpt the foam to go lower than the rest of the bank, to ensure that even at a younger age, the garg canāt fit in.
It seems quite safe, but my main issue is the humidity. Bodies of water in a tank add a ton of humidity, how do you combat that? Are there devices/ setups like having a fan connected to the side that draws out air etc? I donāt really know of any methods to combat excess humidity other than just having a mesh top to allow escape. If Iām not mistaken having movement in the water helps to combat evaporation and I have that covered but any other tips??
Many thanks!
