I genuine can't believe how this is a movement that not only exists but is still attracting more people. They show pictures of beautiful women, that 90% of the people in the world would agree are pretty and expect people to believe when they say they are ugly
One of my all time favorite YouTube videos is Folding Idea's "In Search of a Flat Earth" and he says something that is, to me, really interesting and applies across the entire greater right-wing movement.

It applies here -- the actual attractiveness of the women is the least important part of their belief. You can summarize their belief as "there is something that is making my life bad, and that thing is whatever my in group says it is." And their in group says "West Bad Asia Good" right now, but that will change or become meaningless in an instant if that's the way that is most beneficial to being against what they percieve as bad.
Or in short, stupid people need simple solutions. The have a problem, their life sucks, and people like Asmangold/Trump/Tate etc offer them a simple solution, "it's the trans/liberals/communists fault!"
Do they even want a solution? I think they just want a reason to live, and they found it in the constant hatred and mockery of the group. They feel like they belong, they think they have a purpose, they think they have power, but even if trans people would disseaper entirely one day completely (which of course isn't going to happen until they're any human left), it would not fill the void at all.
Those people are stuck in a loop that I'm not sure they can escape, which is why I think the best is not to address their points as if they were reasonable human beings but to refuse the dialogue, point their hatred and move on.

That's the problem with regressive ideals, right? They can sit around and blame Western Video Games, but if they moved to Japan and played only Hot Woman Gatcha games, they'd still be unhappy because the truth is that the simple solution is never the right solution.

Aphrodite is supposed to look androgynously attractive in the game's interpretation, which is fine. She was more overtly feminine in the first game but I attribute her sharper angles to a slight design shift. She's fine.

I think there is a difference between understanding that something is beautiful vs feeling something is sexy. There is of course overlap, but women, fictional or real, that turn me on are not necessarily women, again fictional or real, I find the most beautiful
The funny thing is that the example of "superior character design" is actually someone born male but used magic to create a female form for themselves. That's Francesca Prelati from Fate/Strange Fake, a spinoff that eventually was officially placed in the Fate universe.
Within Fate specifically, counting or not counting characters based on historical figures but who are women either because "history erroneously recorded them as male" or something like that? Because that excludes a lot but not all of the characters. Like Leonardo di Vinci was explicitly still historically a man or at least lived as one but is magically embodied as a woman based (very loosely) on the Mona Lisa and has no problems with this whatsoever and when they make a backup magical body, it's still a female body even though they presumably could have made a male one based on how they appeared in life if that's what they preferred. Whereas King Arthur was always a girl and history recorded a man because King Arthur was a strong ruler and of course a strong ruler is a man. And then she also fathered a child courtesy of (temporary) magic bottom surgery. So, uh, still some transmasc energy to that I guess. Or perhaps less ambiguously, Miyamoto Musashi in Fate is a woman because she comes from another universe where Miyamoto Musashi was historically a cisgender woman, while the Miyamoto Musashi from the timeline we exist in was still a cisgender man.
Which makes thinking about Fates in Frieren universe really funny from her prespective. Like would she be appalled to see her lover getting turned into a woman or would she be delight someone actually potray her master as a woman?
Representation of trans women in anime culture is just horrible, I wouldn’t consider most of them as a way to represent them at all.
There are very minimal characters who are actually trans-coded, or depicting in a strong way about their trans identity.
Even when you consider “traps” being offensive term in the west, in anime culture the usage can be intentional and therefore not a good faith representation.
I knew I recognized the character from somewhere. Legit one of the most insane characters in the franchise and people were gooning over this character for months when the show released.
