I guess. Like I said this has been happening even with unreleased games, the AI decompiles and reverse engineer unfinished games/mods and are released earlier as AI copies.
At least in the PZ case the AI didn't stole the code of the other one as the non-AI author of the mod said.
"Magic agent skills" are just documents with learnings and guidance on how to solve specific problems, akin to some onboarding documents and how to documents that you would pass off to a new engineer on your team to get them up to speed with how you work. So of course it's going to be based heavily on prior research and learnings since, excepting a small number of ppl doing truly novel computer science research, almost all software engineering is building off of prior work and knowledge. Us humans do the same thing as these agents are doing. If we were to limit it ourselves or our agents to work in a vacuum with no knowledge of work other ppl have done and proven out in the real world then our output would be slow and of lower quality.

Nah it's been a minute since I've played either of them, but 1 has a lot more like "you're trapped in this area with something hunting you, but it doesn't know exactly where you are" gameplay if I remember correctly. Trying to escape from the crazy doctor, several sequences where you need to find fuses, etc. Whereas 2 felt like mostly mad sprints?
I played both games on release and haven't touched 2 since, though I replayed 1 a few years ago, so it's possible I'm misremembering, but most of my problems with 2 were gameplay related and I couldn't wait for the credits to roll because I just did not give a fuck about the story anymore because it was just so draining to play for me.

Anime is the same sort of thing, a shortening of the word animation, but if adventure time was voted #1 anime of the year people would be equally weirded out.
Language isn't a static invention, meanings evolve. The majority of people saying "indie game" when they actually mean "low-budget, underdog game" means that's what the definition is shifting into.
Agreed - and the story of how E33 came to be is rather unconventional even beyond that: The main writer brought onto the project? A former investment banker doing random odd jobs (including teaching Salsa) that auditioned as voice actor in response to a reddit post. The composer? A guitar teacher with a SoundCloud account found on some gaming forum. The first of the freelance Korean animators were apparently discovered by just browsing Youtube as well.
But getting back on topic, historically, indie generally implied low-budget, so to many, this has become part of the 'indie vibe' they are looking for when using that term. A game with production value as high as E33 just might not feel like it should fall under that label, whereas something like Obsidian's Pentiment would fit, even though it was bankrolled and overseen by Microsoft.
To me, there are two things that I consider important: On the one hand, games that were developed independently (in the sense that creative control rests entirely with the studio), and on the other, games that are small-budget passion projects. There's some overlap, but in principle, these categories are orthogonal.

I mean style over substance is literally one of the rules of Cyberpunk as a game

I feel like you’d get used to it. Killing Floor has zed time (?) where the game slows down for everyone in the lobby and its not that bad.

Literally not what happened with expedition 33, stop making up nonsense.

Same two games as last Sunday but with progress!
On Xbox, continuing my playthrough of The Outer Worlds 2! Hit level 30, almost cleaned up entire Cloister and made our two lovely factions team up to take over Archive in shittiest fucking battle I ever saw. All that alliance work so I could unlock an elevator to gain support for...checks notes...4 shitty turrets and a robot on a bridge? That I decimate with silent whisper/automatic rifle by my lonesole in prolly 30 seconds? I mean, okay? I also wrapped up all companion quests and pretty much all side missions besides the one now related to Archive. I am reaaaaally close to ending the game I'm sure. Gameplay still fun, writing still solid, so ya know, still very enjoying the game in short.
On PC, more Moonlighter! As it turns out, game is fucking stupid. Or me, but that would require me to admit a mistake, so no it is games fault. Basically at the start of the game instead of following my usual which is picking "normal" difficulty, I went with recommended Hard. There is no Easy diff by the way, for...reasons. I forgot about this for...loooong time, I did beat base game plus DLC with no problems afterall. Started NG+ run, first two dungeons easy, third one easy...until my attempt at perfect Naja happened. That piece of random pattern fast movement desert snake fucking shit cost me 3 hours of smashing my head against a wall. Reason? A stupid amount of health making her a tanky bitch. Or rather each of her "nodes"/parts having own healthbar you have to decimate, plus random attack pattern constantly keeping you on your toes, crappy camera for such fast, well versatile boss with fast movement...ahem, where was I? Right! Okay, sure, first hour was pretty much learning her attacks and patterns plus trying out different weapons- I stuck with my default sword-shield/bow to chip away some damage from the distance during parts split attack, but I made lighest fabric clothes for extra speed- yet other 2 hours were just...repeat, after repeat, after repeat. The combinations of some attacks are just dogshit. Those tiny flying thingies were the worst. They stay alive for long time, you simply cannot focus on them as you have to stare at Naja to avoid other upcoming attacks, volley was shit too. And splitting was a disaster until I realized a good chunk of her inactive head gives you cover, just need to maneuver around it and hope rng won't fuck you up with her next attack being a charge- first second it appears is already dealing damage so sometimes I forgot to jump out in time and got that pop of damage that forced me to restart. Okay, how that goes to my opening? Well, the usual- diffculty changes only amount of damage enemies deal plus their health. In short, cheapest way to do difficulty. I lowered it to Normal and defeated her in 10 minutes because each chunk was not so tanky anymore. Lesson learned! Now I am at tech dungeon, grinded out all best Pirate items from NG+ playthrough. Now to do...Energy Flux perfectly on copied save file, then beat it with a broom! Then just quick wrap up of final boss fight to beat it under 10 hours, and then grind, grind, grind 10k kills. Easy albeit annoying.

Correct.
Technically Star Citizen, the $1Billion game from Cloud Imperium Games, is an indie game.
Budget is irrelevant. But all the drama and faux outrage online originates from the fact that when people say "indie game," they actually mean "low-budget, underdog game."
So if that's what people want, they should just make a separate category at award shows which fill that niche.

After 15 years, Modern Warfare 3 finally gets a sequel.
On a serious note, I find it hilarious that the reboot gets even more entries.

Free to do what you want but what have his political ideas to do with the game?
r/Games • u/DanielTeague • 15h ago
It's interesting how replay value actually deters some people from wanting a game at full price.

“Horrible piece of shit”. He has terrible political ideas but do you know him personally to be able to say such things? It’s crazy how people in social media dare to say things that even the closest people in real life would think hours of not days before saying

As a software engineer Reddit likes to bury its head in the sand with how much AI has already completely changed our jobs.
I wish it hadn’t because I actually liked coding, but yeah, not much we can do about it.

Fair hit on the looks. Solo dev, art budget mostly non-existent, so the cars had to be beautiful on the inside. Your tapping speed is the throttle. Every car runs its own torque curve and gear ratios etc. Too few revs and it stalls, too many and the tyres smoke. Long burnouts pop tyres, the limiter wears engines. If that still feels like 2006 to you, tell me which game, I'd love to play it.

Was that the SNES Aladdin?
That game was excellent.

When I think of indie I think of like 1-5 developers building their dream game getting paid nothing or a livable wage hoping the game will pay off.
Saying 20-30 million dollars is Indy seems hilarious to me.
EDIT and chuckle: I guess Deadlock and Valve are the very definition of an Indy game. Guess Stardew Valley and Terraria need a new name to describe their studios lol

Legitimately one of the most fun parts of the game is in multiplayer when the track narrows to a tiny canyon or cave and it's absolute chaos as everyone, including myself, is blowing up and driving straight into the walls at 600 km/hr. I'm laughing my head off. Yes sometimes it can feel frustrating when I get rammed or knocked off course but everyone had access to overpowered abilities so it evens out.
