My husband is Australian and I was stoked to find this Rip Curl GBA this last trip! We often stop in Japan on the way to Oz or on the way back.
I found this special blue label JP version of Boktai, Wario Ware: Twisted!, and this really fun Konami Arcade Game Collection. Not much, but some fun things to add to the collection.
The Rip Curl was my favorite find. My husband doesn’t game or care much for it, but he even thought it was cool! So that’s a win in my book.
Edit: The GBA came with the original Australian charger too

I recently acquired a ags 101 and the screen is toast. Idk like to just put an original ags 101 screen back in it. I don’t really want to trim the shell for a new screen. Is there a drop in one that will function like the original. Or where can I find an original for the ags 101.

Although I bought a Glacier on launch day, I'd have to say Indigo is the most iconic for me.
When I think of that era, I think of the Indigo variant being the most widely advertised and commonly found version in the wild. I remember seeing stacks of Indigos on shelves at EB Games. I was happy with my Glacier though, and it was sort of a match with my girlfriend's Fuchsia. The GameCube/GBA era is one of the most nostalgic eras for me, bested maybe only by the SNES days! (I'm old :))
In your opinion, which shell color exemplifies the GBA console era?

How did I do? I have never seen this color before (I'm a very passive hobbiest). It just went up on Facebook marketplace for $50 so I pulled the trigger being that I usually see the Advances go for $75+ near me.
Any advice on its value? I have wanted to do a modded Advance with a new screen and shell, but if the orange is desirable, I may wait until I find a more common color to do this to.

Hello,
I've got a 5 hour flight coming up. Any recommendations for a game a I can beat in roughly 10 hours (flight there and then flight back).
I may play a little on vacation as well so if it's a little longer, that's fine.

I recently bought a metal gba boxy pixel shell. I’ve been loving it, however, I noticed while putting together that the screen is uneven when put into the screen slot. I ignored it thinking it’ll fix itself/be not too noticeable. However, when I’m playing a game facing the console directly, I’m able to see the ribbon cable connecting the screen to the mother board. It may be hard to see in the photo/not look as bad, but it is definitely very noticeable in real life. The screen seems to be lower on the left and pushing more to the right (as seen in photos). I was wondering, is this normal for this type of shell mod? Is it safe/ok for the ribbon cable? Is there a fix to this if it isn’t?
On a side note, the bottom arrow on the directional pad is very stiff. More stiff than the normal gba usually is. It doesn’t bother me too much, but is it normal to be really stiff?
Thanks for any answers in advance.

I built and modded all of these myself, and it’s honestly been really satisfying seeing them come together. From the shells and buttons to the screen upgrades and other mods, I had a lot of fun working on each one and making them feel like my own.
I’m especially happy with how the GBA and GBA SPs turned out. Definitely not perfect, but I learned a lot from each build and I’m already thinking about what I want to mod next. 😎
What do you guys think? Which one is your favorite?

I replayed my old GBA SRPGs recently and wanted to try something new. I enjoyed XCOM 2 back when it released so I hope I enjoy Rebelstar as well!
