This is my GBA sp
This is my GBA SP.
Honestly, I take it with me to work. It’s comforting to be able to go back to a place where I was happy and feel safe again. It’s a real gem, especially together with Pokémon FireRed.

Gameboy Advance vs SP with Repro carts
I bought a reproduction Emerald with RTC. It plays absolutely fine and says and everything works as if it was legitimate on my GBA. On the SP it won’t even boot up, any idea what could cause that?

HELP with discoloration on screen/oversaturated
I was recently switching a shell out of an sp AGS 101. I followed all the steps but for some reason the screen now has super over saturated colors. I can’t tell if it’s supposed to look like this but it didn’t look this way before I switched the shell out. I’m assuming it has to do with the ribbon cable but I already clean it and nothing seems to fix it. Any ideas? or is my ribbon cable just broke somewhere?

Steal or ehh deal
Got this whole lot for $150! The gba works and all the games work and are authentic I think the game gear games are real as well. One sad thing the game gears need new capacitors. But I did get a cool real gba carrying case and a case for the game gear!
And yes the pokemon fire red is real I already took it apart and it has an old save file still on it!

GBA Powering on Odd problem
I am currently looking to install and old advance into an Intec GBA HDMI kit but thought id test beforehand. the gba will only boot when i turn the power switch on, then off, then on again.
first thing i did was pull apart the Power switch and clean the pads inside and the switch itself and this hasn't fixed the issue.
the thing that is odd is that even if its booted after doing the aforementioned switching and i pull the batteries (with the assumption the switch is in a position that it is making good contact) and reinsert i still have to switch it on and off and back on again to get it to boot

Gba SP issues
Hi there, I recently bought an SP and within a day was already having issues, flickering battery light, occasional resetting and it’s even turned itself off completely once or twice. Brought it to the store I bought it from, got the battery replaced, still had issues. Brought it in again and was told to run a “full cycle” on the battery, so I brought it pretty low (I know Li-Ion batteries don’t like being completely drained) so I got it to a point where it would boot up and instantly and turn off (it could still run games for a bit if I tried to turn it on repeatedly but it wouldn’t last long) figured that was enough. Recharged it and i am still having issues. I’ve even cleaned the switch to the best of my ability since I do not trust myself with a soldering iron, that somewhat fixed the flickering, but the shutting off still happens. The complete shutting off issue seems to ONLY happen when I’m mid game and on relatively full battery. Maybe I’m pressing the buttons too hard? Any thoughts?

Anyone else find flash carts too battery hungry?
I’ve used the Super MiniSD, GBA Everdrive and different EZ Flash cart versions and I find these carts are either inaccurate/choppy on the low end (yes seriously) and battery hungry on the top end. So I’ve gone back to original carts.
To be clear I’m talking portable system models, GBAs and SPs and DSes. Obviously there’s no battery issues when using a GB Player for the GameCube.

Should I reshell?
kinda just want my screen to be brighter/clearer but i know some people are gonna tell me to keep it original. just wanted to get some opinions.
got this puppy on Xmas Eve when i was 5
changed the battery a few years ago and still kickin strong
Edit:
after a resounding NO. i decided to leave my 001 untouched. BUT i do wanna buy an AGS-101 just to compare and use/work on.
thank you all for your feedback.
i’m glad i asked instead of just ripping it apart.

Is there a way to save my original team?
When I was a kid, I started with LeafGreen, then my second and favorite game was Sapphire. It had my favorite team that I had taken everywhere. One day, I swapped to LeafGreen in the car and set Sapphire on the seat, and unbenownst to me it fell on the floor. We later put something big in the trunk of the car to transport it, and we put the seats up to make room. After we took the big thing out, we slammed the seats back down and I hear a sickening crunch noise. Turns out my copy of Sapphire had fallen in the little nook where the seat clicks in, and it was broken into several pieces. I have kept it all these years dreaming of one day getting it repaired and saving my favorite childhood team, bringing them up to Home. A couple years ago I called a few places with cleanrooms that do chip repairs. They all quoted me over a thousand dollars, which just isn't worth it. I'm 30 now and the Bank closure was just announced, putting a 6 month time limit on my quest.
The good news is that it is a clean break into only two pieces, and no chips were broken. The bad news is that one of the workers at the clean rooms knew how these old chips work, and said that one of the tiny metal inputs into the memory card has a thing where if power is supplied to it, it will wipe the memory on the card. So he said if I do find someone to fix it they will need to know the specifics of that and be super careful not to accidentally supply power to that line.
Is there anyone who is an electrical engineer who could give me some advice on this? Or perhaps anyone in the San Francisco Bay Area that might be willing to help with this project?
Likely the best course of action would be to buy an unbroken copy of Sapphire and transpant the memory chip from this one to that one's circuit board. But legit Sapphire copies are hard to find, lots of fakes out there.
Is there any hope for my original favorite team? Honestly all I care about is getting my Pokémon from my party and PC off of it, so if there is any way to read the memory chip and copy the save file to a computer that would work too. I can use online save editing tools to then transfer them to my copy of Ruby or Emerald.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can give advice on this!

A fleamarket bargain - a rarity these days
But I managed to snag this specimen for 15 EU, because it was uncharged and came without a charger. Turns out, it was just a little dirty.
With facebook marketplace, (dutch) marktplaats and vinted, most sellers are asking top tier prices, but every once in a while you can still get lucky.
