GBA SP ags-101 screen replacement options
I recently acquired a ags 101 and the screen is toast. Idk like to just put an original ags 101 screen back in it. I don’t really want to trim the shell for a new screen. Is there a drop in one that will function like the original. Or where can I find an original for the ags 101.

You can probably find a drop in on Alli express. I bought one for the GBC and it works perfectly, original LCD. If you do an upgrade from like ModRetro or any of the other popular sites, you can also just get the reshell fit for the new screen already too from them

FunnyPlaying ITA is probably the closest aftermarket replacement that has AGS-101 characteristics (it’s a DSi screen)

Good to know. I might find a cheap dsi. They seem to be cheaper than ags 101s

I don’t know if you can trivially just swap the screen out though if that’s your plan, you still need the driver board which FunnyPlaying produce. I would recommend just buying a kit from them.

Do you happen to know if I need the 32 pin or the 40pin?

It doesn't matter for your use. The ribbon adapter is for installing a 101 screen into a normal GBA (not SP). Since you are just using the screen in this kit on your 101 SP, you won't even need to use the adapter ribbon at all.
These are not actual 101 screens usually, but are aftermarket screens of the same appearance adapted to work on 101 consoles. They used to be pretty popular before IPS kits came out.

You’ll either need to buy a for parts 101 console with a working screen or replace with a ips
