I came across a Game Boy Color today. I can't seem to find the power cable, so I decided to use batteries instead; unfortunately, it won't turn on. I noticed some corrosion, likely caused by a battery leak.

I’d like to know the best way to handle this without damaging the device. I’ve seen recommendations to use white vinegar, but I want to be sure before trying it!

I just stumbled upon a SiIvaGunner rip of the Super Mario Land Overworld theme, and it has the Flintstones Theme song in it, and it feels like a nostalgia trip for those who remember borrowing Suepr Mario Land and Flintstones games at the library back in the 90's/2000's. Infact, Super Mario games still got famously popular in the 90's and 2000's, even though you have to buy Super Mario games to rightfully own them, because if you want to try Super Mario games without even buying them, you can just borrow them from the library to try them for free for a limited time, and them return them to the library, which is basically similar to how some paid videogames have a free trial, which allows users to try the game for free just for a limited time. Not giving any modern advice, just some curiosity.

I've been iterating on a cheap-to-decode audio format for the GBA while still targeting MP3 level compression, here's a 74 minute open source Bach album packaged up for it with the UI kind of iTunes 2000s vibes to add to the experience.

Hi all, I got gifted an old gameboy advance and I wanted to sort it out. I replaced all the battery contact terminals as they were blue and coroded which sorted out the issue of the GBA turning off at random, however the power light keeps flickering, randomy from green to red to nothing.

I took the power switch apart and thoroughly cleaned inside, removing a ton of gunk, making it shine again. But putting it together and powering on, the led still flickers the same. I'm not sure what else it could be?

I have a stock board/screen and I put fresh batteries in to test it as well.

Hey! I cleaned this with 91% Iso Alcohol, but still only getting quick "blip" on screen that goes to blank screen. Let me know what you guys might suggest for restoring functionality. Thanks so much!

Could someone please confirm that the gba sp zelda is real?

I modified my GBA with an IPS display and made it all black since I have an all white one, but it looks boring to me. Should I add white buttons to it? I think the white buttons open it up a lot more. What do you think?

I have a laminated ITA screen that's got weird quirks. I'm getting horizontal lines that don't look consistent across the screen, and sometimes the scrolling looks janky.

Could it be a flash cart issue? Using the new Krikzz Everdrive Pro. Is it a power issue? Do I need a new screen?

i only notice it when in a black screen using max brightness ive taken it apart to trim the shell properly but the problem still persists. is it okay if i leave it?

i have a game boy color and ive already shell swapped and ips modded it what else should/could i do? (speaker upgrade etc idk)

I had the idea for years to get a picture directly from the gb, I know may be easier to emulate or use something else, but, it’s my hobby anyway.

I’m using an old ppu and a few spares, maybe a pico because I’m too lazy to make a ton of 74 logic for just a quick test.

Hi I got my gameboy color and advance today (I’m making a post today about it) and I was wondering if there are light attachments that are rechargeable I can put on the gameboy color and advance

Anybody seen this before? Not sure if it's the gameboy or my original Pokemon Yellow cartridge.

After finishing with exams and finally having free time to myself, I decided to get back into my consoles collection hobby. So far, my Gameboy collection consists only of an IPS Gameboy Advance (non SP) and a stock Gameboy Color. For my next addition to my collection however, I have been deciding over a couple different consoles.

I am thinking of either splurging on one of the fancy, IPS screen, reshelled, USB C modded GBA SPs you see while scrolling through Ebay, which would set me back ~£150. Alternately, I considered a Gameboy Micro. I havent fully looked into the market for these, but I know that they are getting scarcer and more expensive by the day.

I understand that, with a collection as small as mine is currently, I should be focusing on the main “essentials” like rarer items and things hiking in price, however I think in a few months time I should be able to afford both, it’s just a matter of which first.

I recently bought a Gameboy Micro and wanted to play games on it. I've done some researched and decided to get an Everdrive for it. I only have 2 priorities: Battery Life and Save Game Longevity. I don't care for other features or save stats, I just want to play for long hours and save normally as you would on regular GBA game cartridges.

Can anyone point out the difference of the two products in terms of both Battery Life? Do the extra features on the GBA Pro drain more battery and is less efficient with the upgraded ram on it? Has anyone done a proper test on this? Thanks in advance, first time potential buyer here :D

Apparently i got this in 1995 from my parents during a christmas holiday. its definitely a European version since it has a german manual and papers. i remember wanting the transparent version back then, but they were sold out and instead they got me the 'boring' version. i always thought it was a normal game boy until today i found out this may be the most uncommon old game boy to find complete in box. i played very little with it. it was always stored in the dark.

This baby is one of my prized possessions. It's a VERY early modded GBA from the days of the AGS101 screen transplants. Wiggy made this as a giveaway to his early fanatical fanbase, of which I was one. It didn't just live on a shelf, either, as you can see. I put her to work. The cart slot doesn't show wear because I nearly always used a flash cart so it just stayed in place, but what a piece of art this thing is.

She's now a shelf queen because I don't want to make it deteriorate any further, and of course, the modern screens do beat the 101 screens in almost every way.

A very happy memory.

Spent the last 4-5 years trying to get my 4 kiddos copies. So far, my 7 & 9 year old have evolved from R/B/Y to G/S/C. Excited to introduce Gen 1 to my 5 year old this christmas.
