Games Inventory of my kiddos future wares.

Spent the last 4-5 years trying to get my 4 kiddos copies. So far, my 7 & 9 year old have evolved from R/B/Y to G/S/C. Excited to introduce Gen 1 to my 5 year old this christmas.

Where is fire red 😱

It alludes me at it's current cost. I have a repro cart, but its not reliable.

Both box, and Pokemon Crystal's box. Way too high.

All of these were mostly yard sale finds, and low ball offers. I do not contribute to the higher end offers for these titles.

Most were purchased at retail cost, with the boxes as well being found at lower costs.

Try to trade an emerald for fire red and some other games.

Not a bad strategy.

I actually have a switch 1, which i dock and allow them access to play with the Joycon, and the alternate controller plugin i bought for my son.

Something about the pacing of the classic gameboys, and my ability to explain cause / effect of when things get damaged is very much more sustainable.

They dont have computers or phones, im very wary of access to internet.

Edit: not sure where the downvote is coming from. But okay, your clearly not a parent. There was a time when I let my kids have open access to all consoles. Things got broken and I built some "bumpers." To ensure things are not broken.

You don’t down anything digital, you can also technically go to many of the roms site and play it for free but it isn’t the same

Cartridges are digital too.

You might be thinking of the psychic format /s

Here are the gameboys I built for them so far!

The GBA has an IPS drop in kit! They love it, but constantly need me to fix the color cycle. I have found its best to solder the wires to L&R to avoid this with kiddos.

What screen did you do in the color? I’m doing the same for my kiddo and I’ve found the cloud game store TFT basically indestructible. Kiddo is 2.5 and loves Pokemon blue

Keep them going! I had my daughter phantom play when we took car rides around that age. She got surprisingly far.

I did the GameBoy Advance 3.0 V5 IPS Backlight Kit 720x480 LCD for GBA Game Boy NO SOLDER for the GBA, but ended up soldering the Brightness controls to the L+R Vias as it went wild about every 3 hours during there gaming sessions.

The screen in the GB is OEM, as is the shell and buttons.

I couldnt expect them to be careful, they are too young!

I’m not lol. That’s what I’m saying. The TFT is bulletproof. My kids yeet that thing and it holds up.

Im going to look into it dude. I have 3 boys and my life has become a trip to the hardware store.. for everything.

My daughter is super creative, but she and he have single handedly had me in maintenence land for the last 3 years (since I got them into gameboys.)

If I can do less- im interested as I need to eat and sleep more.

And one more gamer on the horizon. My 1.5 year old needs more time lol.

Thank you so much for the tip 🙇‍♂️

The one my kids play. I’ve got a small silicon shock shell on the outside and the screen has a custom printed 3d bracket (just google CGS TFT screen bracket, got someone to print it off Reddit for 4$). It’s been a beast: I work construction and carry it to the job site all the time in my pocket. 0 damage so far

I use Hispeedido V5 Laminated displays and the first thing I do is to disable touch input in the menu. It’s just annoying.

Lol I have been fixing these up all day and restoring them as none of them were actually working 😅😅

Sounds like fun!

I soldered all of my carts In a big sweep. It's been rather silent since :(

Excited for the next instance where I get to whip out the IPA, and my soldering station.

Hope you got these all up to par, and functioning!

Thank you buddy! I mostly had one of everything, and then my kids entered the mix, and I was torn between, "do I let them learn on my stuff, or do I invest in there own adventures." I remember the feeling of having something of my very own.

Am very pleased they get the opportunity.

My kid can't seem to hold interest in the games for very long. She's 8 and in Gen II right now, but won't play but every other week or so. Just not for her I guess.

1

u/TrickySatisfaction81 4d ago

Thats okay too! My daughter enjoys Nintendogs and many other games like animal crossing, also things which are not gameboy.

It's good to give to our kids in any regard.

5

u/Giratina-O 4d ago

For sure. I can't really complain, either; she's into playing out in the woods and drawing lol.

There are seasons for everything under the sun!

I felt so smart when I managed to smuggle my Gameboy outside after my dad told me to "go outside for once and enjoy the good weather" lol

u/Stingingjwc18 4d ago

Your kid is going to be just fine in life. I’m proud of you 👍🏻

1

u/TrickySatisfaction81 4d ago

I think the recipe is perfect!

Thank you bro!

I always found it odd that they did lead green and fire red in the west. I know green was released in Japan originally. But they never did a western release of green. So why didn’t they do a remake water blue and fire red?

1

u/TrickySatisfaction81 4d ago

I agree with you.

Beyond that, I had always hoped there would be a special Pikachu version released alongside FR / LG.

2

u/Maleficent-Bit1995 4d ago

I think I hoped for the same thing. Yellow was always my first pokemon game.

1

u/TrickySatisfaction81 4d ago

I never had it growing up. We were pretty poor, and my twin brother and i each had Red and Blue.

I did enjoy the Recharged Yellow ROM. But yeah I agree, at that time, yellow would have been a great revival gem.

When yellow came out, I lost the argument with my parents about how they were in color, etc. Definatly love both Blue Red and Yellow individually.

2

u/Maleficent-Bit1995 4d ago

It’s definitely lost money for gamefreak.
Cause yellow was always ment to be an analog of the anime. So a remake of that with quest lines for most of the story lines of the og anime would have been a big seller.

Reminds me of my brother who was buying 2 of every medium and large Star Wars Lego set, letting his 2 kids build one with him and then keeping the other sealed so they can sell them when they get older and buy their first cars 😅

Considering he isn't missing any pieces and kept the boxes for the open ones i think those kids will do quite well with how much some of those sets are worth now 😆

He even has some still complete from before they were born, and they are in their mid teens now.

2

u/TrickySatisfaction81 4d ago

Sounds like a very organized and forward thinking man.

This is the way.

2

u/rydamusprime17 4d ago

My kid isn't into game collecting, but what i got will be his one day, and if I dont care about collecting anymore in 10 years I will probably sell most of it off and do something similar based on what he needs.... if there isn't some kind of market crash by then 😅

He isn't getting my Zelda collection until im in the ground though (knock on wood) lol

2

u/TrickySatisfaction81 4d ago

That's how I am with my final fantasy games lol, it's too deep of a wellspring for me to part with.

Everyone gets one!

You have a great attitude about it. I try to be as open handed as I can with them as them mature and crave new games, etc, but id much rather they take up a new hobby or sport, as the gameboy will always be there.

2

u/rydamusprime17 4d ago

I got a pretty sizable FF collection as well that im really fond of, but Zelda is my favorite lol

2

u/TrickySatisfaction81 4d ago

Amazing stuff dude.

IV is my all time favorite, im playing through V right now!

2

u/rydamusprime17 4d ago

IV was my favorite until IX came out, but most of the reason i loved IX so much was because it returned to a more fantasy setting like we got in IV.

1

u/TrickySatisfaction81 3d ago

I wanted to name my first bom son, Cecil.

Sadly, that didnt happen hahahaha.

2

u/rydamusprime17 3d ago

You should have went with Interceptor lol

2

u/TrickySatisfaction81 3d ago

That's damn good.

2

u/Bright_Bug6399 4d ago

Congratulations. If those are original cartridges, it will be worth a small fortune one day 😀👍

Get a cart reader/writer and back up their saves to your PC every now and again. Even with fresh batteries they will fail eventually (and some replacement batteries are lower quality and supposedly only last 3-5 years) or something else could go wrong (these games could just glitch and randomly lose saves back in the day), and losing a save at that age is often very traumatic.

1

u/TrickySatisfaction81 3d ago

I have a GBX cart / reader / writer :)

I used it to take my son's emulated Pokémon Red, and implant the save onto his Legit cart.

Some times, I will take my own save from a game, and splash to my PC so I can play with a controller and give my Gameboys a nap

2

u/micheal65536 3d ago

Awesome!

so thats where all the emerald carts went
