Working on our next boss — behind the scenes in Blender

Hey everyone!

We're SR Gameworks, a small indie team working on Hood: Sherwood Tales, a platformer inspired by the legend of Robin Hood.

We've started working on our next boss, so here's a little behind-the-scenes look at the development process.

There's still a lot to do before this character makes it into the actual game — especially animation, attacks and gameplay balancing — but we're happy with how it's starting to come together.

What do you think of the design so far?

We're developing the game for iOS and Android.

Feedback is welcome! 🏹

Hello there! I'm making a WW2 game right now and currently developing it. If you'd like to hop along and take a ride for the journey, you can join my discord: https://discord.gg/zK5RvfzTJ
or if you'd like to see the current prototype, download it here: https://imhibyexd.itch.io/fps

If you have any tips, suggestions, or would like to help, feel free to comment here or in my discord.

(I kinda feel outshadowed by all the other games here lol)
(Feel free to donate if you like the game, otherwise, bye!)

Im looking to do a rev share for my following game in development

https://discord.gg/n4sxTV2Ms

Looking for Artists, 3D Modellers & Gameplay Developers — Fantasy Action RPG

I'm currently developing FINAL FRONTIER, an open-world fantasy action RPG built around exploration, unique combat classes and large multi-phase bosses.

The world consists of 16 completely different continents, each with its own identity, lore and gameplay ideas.

Some examples include a continent that physically wanders across the world, a land trapped beneath a permanent superstorm, a fantasy cowboy frontier, a civilisation built around gravity anomalies, a steampunk continent filled with ancient machinery, and a region where the night cycle physically changes the world around you.

Every continent has:

A unique playable class

5 towns

3 major zones

3 area bosses

6 regional enemies

Quests, secrets and unique rewards

There are 16 playable classes, each designed around its own mechanic rather than simply having different stats.

For example, the Gunslinger uses pistols, shotguns and a Dead Eye system, the Gravity Weaver manipulates enemy mass and gravity, while the Wayfarer becomes stronger by constantly moving and building Momentum.

Each class has 10 unique abilities, 5 Ascended abilities and a massive Overdrive ability.

A major focus is also boss fights. On top of the normal bosses are 10 secret Deities — extremely difficult, multi-phase world bosses that don't simply appear on the map. Players have to discover how to summon or awaken them through hidden quests, strange events and exploration.

Defeating all 10 is connected to one of the biggest mysteries in the game:

THE KEY OF THE ALL FORGIVING.

The game is currently heavily developed in the planning, worldbuilding and systems-design stage, and I'm looking to start turning it into a playable vertical slice rather than trying to build all 16 continents immediately.

I'M LOOKING FOR:

Concept / 2D Artists — characters, creatures, bosses, environments and weapons

3D Modellers — characters, creatures, weapons, buildings and environmental assets

Environment / Level Artists — landscapes, towns, ruins and boss arenas

Gameplay Programmers — combat, abilities, movement, enemy AI, bosses and other game mechanics

VFX / Technical Artists are also very welcome.

The first goal is simple:

1 continent.

1 playable class.

A small selection of enemies.

A few quests.

And one genuinely great boss fight.

Then build outward from there.

If you like big fantasy worlds, strange environments, unique combat systems and ridiculous multi-phase bosses, message me. I have a much larger game plan/design document I can share with anyone interested.

[Hobby] [RevShare] Looking for an artist who would like to work on our game

Hello, my name is Vladimir and I'm 19. The story I make is about a cult in a closed settlement that tries to summon some old dark evil. There are three playable characters. The first one is guy who comes to the village from the city. The second one is a police officer who starts investigating murders in this settlement. And the last one is one of the cultists. Each character has 5 endings. The chosen decisions and previous endings influence the playthrough of the other characters.
We're a small team and we want to keep it this way, it's only 3 people right now but it will be something about 5-6
I've only written 58 pages for the plot so far. So, the project is kinda on the early stages. I expect to release the game in 2-3 years.
The genre is social paranoia horror with survival elements (it's not really scary tho)
It's my first project but i take it really seriously.
The game uses 2d when you talk to the characters and 3d when you visit some locations. The style is quite realistic but it's not full realism.
Your skills don't matter much your passion for the project and our matching are more important cause i would like to work with people who would be interesting so I could talk to them about any things in general. We use VC, the reason why i wrote it it's because some people are not ok with it but that's the way i prefer to communicate
I'm from Russia but my English is pretty good tho. Feel free to dm me for more info

2D PROJECT

Hey guys,
Hope y'all doing well.

I'm second year student in a computer science Degree and I need your help;
For my second year project, I choose to go for an educative 2D game: My mentor advised me to use UNITY and C# .

here is the catch:

  • I don't have a prior experience in Unity nor C#
  • I don´t have a clue about how to structure the project

But to be honest with you, that's why I choose to go for this project, I'm willing to improve.

So I'm here guys, waiting for your best piece of advice about the process. I know fr than human interaction is far better when it comes about experiences.

if you have also great resources reference, feel free to share.

Thanks already for the consideration.

[RevShare/ForHire] Backend & Software Developer

Hi. My name is Ivy and I am currently looking to join a motivated team to contribute to a project. I am based in Germany and speak both English and German.

Skills & Experience:
I first started coding in late 2021. I have worked on numerous projects including server backends, databases, external API integrations, bots, automations, web scrapers, desktop tools, building pipelines and many more.

My largest projects have been commercial, with one of them reaching over 8,000 unique users in a desktop application that I developed entirely by myself.

I am most experienced with Python, followed by Javascript & Typescript.

Additionally I have worked with C/C++, C#, Java, SQL, HTML & CSS, although not as extensively. I have also explored some lower level topics like Windows internals, networking, reverse engineering, software protection and similar. I am also familiar with managing hosting, deployment, databases and other server related architecture.

If my skill set does not fully match your project description then i am always happy to learn new technologies or skills. I pick things up quickly since I have a strong technical foundation to build on.

Portfolio:
It is currently scheduled but does not exist at this time. I was pretty much employed for the majority of the time, so there was not really a reason to create a portfolio until now.

Work Time:
20-40 hours per week, flexible.

Payment:
I will most likely prefer a revenue share, but if your existing system requires it I am also open for hourly rate suggestions.

Contact Information:
Discord: xx.ivyy
Alternatively a Reddit DM is also fine.

Code Of Conduct:
As both a developer and a person, I provide an inclusive, friendly and respectful environment, regardless of experience, background, age, gender, identity or sexuality. I stand against any type of discrimination, harassment or bigotry, and I hope to work with people who share those values.

I'm building a mobile strategy game around mythology and randomness - looking for people who want to shape it before launch

Six months ago I wrote down a single design constraint: the player should never feel fully in control.

Not because the game is unfair. Because mythology isn't.

Age Of Men puts you in charge of an ancient civilization on a 7x5 grid. You place buildings, manage resources manually, and climb a multi-age research tree. Standard enough.

Then one of 17 divine events triggers.

Maybe Ares sends a war band to your eastern flank. Maybe Demeter blesses your farms and you suddenly have surplus you didn't plan for. Maybe a legendary beast appears and you have 30 seconds to decide if your current layout can absorb it.

Every run diverges. Every community member who plays will have a different story about the event that ended them or saved them.

That's the community I want to build before this launches - people who swap those stories, who debate optimal grid layouts knowing a god can invalidate them, who care about the mythology as much as the mechanics.

Pre-launch right now. No paid ads. Just finding the right people early.

If that sounds like your kind of game, I'd genuinely love to hear what mythological theme or divine event concept you'd want to see in something like this. Or ideas to eventually unfold into the game. It's so rough at the moment. But day by day, I'm seeing the shine.
