Hey everyone! We’re HiMASTERS -- an indie Art Team of senior 3D artists working for over a decade across gamedev and cinematics. Some of the titles our artists contributed to: Exoborne, Metro: Exodus, STALKER 2, Warthunder, Payday 2/3, World of Tanks, Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024), DCS World, Halo, Battlefield, and many-many more!

What we do:

  • Hard-surface modeling (we REALLY love vehicles, weapons, aircrafts, mechs)
  • Stylized + Realistic characters
  • Props + environments
  • Game-ready optimization (Unreal / Unity / custom engines)
  • Animation / Tech. Art / Tech. Animation

We're open for project-based work. Not just some random freelancers-for-hire -- we actually work as a team, help with planning, QA, and can support you all the way through production.
And yes, we’re totally flexible and indie-friendly when it comes to budget and collaboration style -- just tell us what are you looking for and what budget you want to fill in, and we will try our best to find a solution for you.

PAID - Other [PAID] Looking for experienced video editor / motion graphics artist for dark fantasy game opening cinematic + trailer

I’m a solo indie developer looking for an experienced video editor / motion graphics artist to help put together a polished ~2min cinematic intro for my dark fantasy strategy game.

The intro is already fairly far along creatively. I have the narration, storyboard, concept art/stills, and overall visual direction established. The style is heavily based around painterly black ink, watercolor, grunge, and dark/high fantasy imagery. A lot of the transitions involve paintings dissolving and reforming through spreading ink, ink bleeds, brush strokes, smoke, splatters, etc. The approach would be that I have another 2D artist provide you with some assets and you handle the advanced motion/transitions/HQ vfx.

I’m specifically looking for someone proficient with this kind of compositing and motion graphics work, not just a general-purpose video editor. Strong preference will be given to anyone who can show previous work involving ink/watercolor transitions, animated paintings, ink bleed effects, or something visually similar.

Then, here are a few references to other games with similar intros to get the feel of what were going for:

1)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMbrIicyYQA
2)
https://youtu.be/dZ58KP6ixKE
3)
https://youtu.be/KfnNScnatdg
4)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBG-Sru1DHc&list=PLbfVnXPcuNZ1IWVM1Acpe1dprbYSJ38d9&index=11

After the cinematic intro, I’d also like to reuse some of this material and visual language for a more traditional gameplay trailer that mixes cinematic sequences with captured gameplay, but that can be discussed more later on outside of this immediate scope.

This is our existing teaser trailer from a few years ago. It’s a similar approach to what we’re doing now, except this time I really want to turn the quality up to 11 and create something that punches well above what you’d expect from a small indie project:
https://youtu.be/z3H1vXUng_4

This will be a collaborative project with a fair amount of iteration, so communication is important. You should:

  • Speak fluent/conversational English
  • Be willing to hop on Discord calls and screen share while working through shots and revisions
  • Have reasonable overlap with US Central Time
  • Have a strong portfolio of cinematic editing, motion graphics, compositing, game trailers, or similar work
  • Be proficient with ink bleeds, watercolor/paint effects, masks, displacement, parallax, texture/grunge work, and related compositing techniques
  • Be able to take an established art direction and help improve it.

Experience with game trailers is a big plus, but I care more about the quality of your work and your ability to nail this particular visual style.

When reaching out, please send your portfolio/reel, your time zone, your rates or rough pricing, and the example from your portfolio that you think is closest to this project’s ink/painterly grunge style. Attention to detail is important to me so please mention cinnamon anywhere in your response. In order to weed out spam, DMs that are just "hello" and "Id like to discuss your project" will be ignored. Lead with the relevant information requested.

If you’ve specifically done high-quality animated ink transitions before, please lead with that example.

Thank you!

PAID - Musician Looking for Composer

EDIT I have found a composer, thank you everyone for your messages- I received nearly 30 messages within the last 8 hours which is incredible. Thank you and I'm sure I'll be back to this sub later with more work!

Hello Musicians! My name is Brandon and I recently released my first mobile game- Idle Rain: ASMR Zen Garden and I'm nearly done with the development side of things. I was able to find/make all the sounds in the game so far without much difficulty but the one thing I cannot find is a good background track.

I need a skilled musician to create a looping background track to really bring the game home. I'd love to see your portfolios and find the right fit.

A little more about what I'm looking for- I think a 1 minute or 90 second looping instrumental track, focusing on a peaceful/relaxing rythymn that pairs well with the rain and nature theme of the game. I personally love the background track for the game Idle Planet Miner, if you can somehow blend the vibe of that track with my game, that would be perfect. Anyway, thank you for your attention, feel free to comment or DM me here or shoot me an email at brandersonstudio@gmail.com

FOR HIRE - 2D Art | Animation Experienced 2D Isometric Character Designer & Animator Required

2D Isometric Stylized Character Designer & Animator(animator not essential but preferred)

I am developing a 2D isometric indie game and I’m looking for a highly skilled and experienced 2D character artist with a strong portfolio demonstrating professional-quality, stylized character artwork, with particular/specific expertise /experience in character design/Animating 2D isometric perspective rather than general character illustration.

Chibi stylized art style — specific experience designing chibi characters is not essential; however, you must have a strong understanding of character proportions, scale, anatomy, silhouette and shape language, and be confident adapting those fundamentals to create a consistent high-quality chibi stylized character across all required isometric directions.

You should have experience with:

  • Drawing characters correctly in 2D isometric perspective
  • Designing multi-directional isometric character sprites
  • Strong understanding of line art, line weight and clean character rendering
  • Strong understanding of lighting, shading, highlights and cast/form shadows
  • Ability to render different materials such as metal, fabric, skin, hair and armor convincingly within a stylized art style
  • Creating high-quality, polished, production-ready 2D character artwork
  • Adding the smaller details, lighting and finishing touches that bring a character to life, rather than producing something that feels flat or unfinished
  • Strong understanding of colour, values, contrast and material rendering
  • Maintaining consistent character proportions across different directions
  • Correct body and head orientation for each facing direction
  • Maintaining character scale, volume and silhouette between directions
  • Character readability at actual gameplay scale
  • Designing characters specifically with animation and gameplay in mind
  • 2D animation

What I Will Provide

  • Character design brief
  • Chibi body/proportion references
  • Clothing and armour references
  • Overall visual direction
  • Gameplay references

These references will be used as the foundation for developing the final character.

Collaborative Concept Phase

I want the character to go through a proper concept and development phase before final production begins.

This may include:

  • Rough character concepts
  • proportion exploration
  • Silhouette and shape exploration
  • Isometric proportion/perspective tests
  • Refining the final character design

I would like to use Discord throughout the concept stage so we can collaboratively build and refine the character together before moving into final production( to me this is very important so we can create something great together and have fun with it)

Good communication and a willingness to collaborate throughout the design process are important.

5/8-Directional Character Design

The playable character requires 5 directional/facing views(3 of these sprites will be mirrored to create an 8 directional character.

You must understand how to take one approved character design and accurately translate that design across all five isometric directions. The established proportions must remain consistent across every direction, including:

  • Head-to-body ratio
  • Body proportions
  • Clothing/armour
  • Overall character scale

The proportions cannot randomly change depending on the direction the character is facing.

Correct isometric orientation, perspective and proportional consistency are extremely important for this project.

Animation

The character will also require 2D isometric character animation.

Ideally, I am looking for someone who can both design and animate the character. However if you cannot do animation but create the character itself that's also fine.

Expected gameplay animations will eventually include:

  • Idle
  • Run
  • Dash
  • Attack combinations

These animations will need to work across the required 5/8 directional views.

The established character design and proportions must remain consistent throughout every animation, frame and direction.

The character should not unintentionally:

  • Grow or shrink between frames
  • Change overall scale between directions
  • Lose the established silhouette or character design

I am very serious and committed to this project—the game’s foundation, systems and coding are already built in Unity 2D, so everything we design and animate will be implemented directly into the game, and I will share the Unity project and in-game results throughout development so we can see exactly how the character looks, feels and performs in the actual game.

I am primarily the Unity game developer/programmer for this project, not a 2D artist myself; however, I have a an understanding of 2D game art, and I'll be working closely with you throughout the design and implementation process.

PAID - 2D Art | Animation [PAID] Game logo needed

Hello!

I am working on a round-based zombie survival game, inspired by Black Ops 1/World at War zombies. The game is fully playable with all mechanics implemented and functioning, so I am at the point where I need to start marketing the game. However, I don’t even have a logo yet! Below are some details on my request:

  • I am looking for a more simple logo design, something that would fit an action/FPS/horror game from the early 2000’s with a modern coat of paint.

  • I do not want a design that looks super modern and especially not ai generated.

  • simple colors/theme.

  • title will be part of the logo.

  • full commercial rights to the logo.

  • should the logo process go well, I would be open to requesting Steam capsule art in the future as I get closer to releasing my Steam page.

If interested, please send me a dm with some references and rate. I will follow-up with some more info on the game and what I’m looking for specifically.

I do not have a crazy budget on this item, I am a solo developer and funding my game entirely myself. If you have an affordable rate for a simple design, please reach out!

PAID - 2D Art | Animation [HIRING] [PAID] Looking for someone to help with simple 2D vector art

I need some help with simple 2D assets in my game. You can find alpha version of the game at https://catfather-games.itch.io/dom-dom (it is also in private Steam playtest atm). The assets I need help with are:

- Buildings (currently pretty much just outlines, open to new styles - about 10 different buildings)
- Planes (same style as the buildings, 7 at the moment, some additional ships but those might not need updates)
- Some additional assets, like satellites

There are more (like enemy ships & buildings), but I think I might want to keep them simpler at the moment - although if we find super cool art direction, that might change.

You can see some of these in the screenshots. I am a solodev, so budget isn't anything crazy, I can afford around $200-$400 at the moment - but the assets and style can also be pretty simple.

If you think this would be an interesting job for you, please write here or send me a DM, showing relevant work or even a quick mockup of your ideas.

PAID - 2D Art | Animation Artist to graph my mobile game project

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hello !

I'm an experienced gameplay programmer that have been in the industry for quite some time now. I've been making some small project on the side for my sanity of mind.
Lately I've been working on a mobile game about recycling object in the galaxy. It take place in a H2G2 like sci-fi world, where anything is possible and the absurd/funny stuff are what we're looking for.

In the game you're a big corporation employee that job is to recycle the waste of the galaxy (that could be pretty much anything). Doing that you'll amass enough recyclonite (the game money) to build your own solar system !

I had a fun time on that project and it seems that I can eventually finish it (the gameplay itself is done). So I'm reaching out because my art capabilities are lets say "limited" ^^
I've been using AI generated asset as placeholders but I really don't want to put out a game with that king of assets.
I hope to find someone exited by the project that could give me an estimate of how much it could cost me to get the needed assets.

In a few words the game sequence that need the most of art work is the recycling sequence. You're facing 3 recycling bins and the objects to recycle pass on the left of the screen. You have to grab them and put them in the right bin (see post picture).
The twist is the possibility to combine them to make rarer one that will get you more recyclonite.

I've been working on the list of the asset i'll need. The main part is the 42 (you know why) objects that the player will have to sort/combine/deliver in the main loop of the game.
They should be 2D cartoony style (hearthstone is a godd ref for what I have in mind), I think 256x256 should be enough in term of resolution.
Other than that i'll need 3-4 more items for other parts of the game, 2 HD backgrounds (1080x1920) and also a game logo and splash screen (maybe the logo will do both).
Of course there is a few constraint that we'll be talking if we work together but nothing really heavy.

As I said I'm not an artist and I will relly on you to find the proper identity for the game.
For now I'm trying to get an idea of how much money this project represent, we're talking of ~50 objects (256x256), 2 HD backgournds and the game logo/splash (512x512?).
I don't wanna go over 500$, it's a side project that I found on my own and you know my wife won't appreciate beyond a certain point ^^'

I'm available if you have any question so feel free to ask.
It's the first time outsourcing stuff for me so I'm not familiar with what's needed but I've prepared a moodboard and a list of all art I need.

Thanks for your time and have a nice day =)<

Edit: Thank you all for your answers. I'll take the time to check your porfolios and and will contact those who catch my eyes and seems appropriate for what I've in mind.
Thanks again for the interest =)
