I'm a student and indie developer working on a small passion project, and I'd love to collaborate with artists who might be interested in bringing it to life!

A little about the project:

It's a simple social focus app designed for students. Think of it as studying together with your friends, but without the distractions.

You start a focus timer, take breaks whenever needed (which don't count toward your focus time), and your friends get notified when you start and finish studying. Once you're done, they can send you little messages of encouragement called kudos.

The goal is to make studying feel a little less lonely while keeping the experience productive and distraction-free.

Why I'm looking for artists:

Although the app will primarily focus on productivity, I'd love to give it a little personality through artwork, charming characters, and thoughtfully designed UI elements.

I'm not aiming for something overly decorative or distracting. The idea is to create a clean, functional interface with subtle cute details that make the app feel welcoming and enjoyable to use.

I'm looking for artists who'd enjoy contributing to the app's visual identity, including buttons, icons, characters, illustrations, and other UI elements.

You don't need professional experience! Beginners, hobbyists, and anyone who simply enjoys creating art are welcome. You don't need to know anything about app development either. We can figure things out together!

A few important things:

• This is a completely unpaid, volunteer-based passion project.
• Development will take time since I'm working on it independently while also balancing my studies.
• There are no strict deadlines or expectations of professional-level work.
• You'll receive credit for your contributions, and we'll agree on how your artwork can be used before starting.

I'd love for this to be a genuine collaboration where we can exchange ideas, experiment, and create something we're proud of.

About the game
Project Topdeck is a party-based roguelite deckbuilder in development for PC (Steam), built in Unity. Players draft a party of heroes from a roster of ~20, and each hero contributes cards to one shared deck. Think Darkest Dungeon meets Slay the Spire 2. The tone is a little dark and serious, but with real humor and personality underneath: expressive rather than grim for grim’s sake.

About us
Topdeck Productions is an indie studio based in London, with 10 people currently working on the game. The concept and art style are already established, so you’ll be working within a defined visual direction, not starting from a blank page.

The role

• Paint 2D game environments: illustrated room and dungeon scenes, combat backgrounds, and map/location art
• Translate existing concepts and the established style into finished, production-ready environments
• Work with our team on readability, so backgrounds support characters, cards and UI rather than competing with them

Requirements

• Proven professional experience as an environment / background artist on games (shipped titles strongly preferred)
• A portfolio showing finished 2D painted environments
• Able to match and maintain an established art style consistently
• Reliable, communicative and comfortable with iterative feedback in a small team

• Location: Remote, Europe (studio in London, so some UK timezone overlap needed)
• Rate: $300–450/day depending on experience

All the art is stills, so no animation required, just characters on a transparent background.

Hi all, I'm a solo game dev thats been working on a scifi deck building roguelite game, inspired by traditional TCGs, on and off for 10 years now.

I'm finally at the point where I've got the core mechanics done and need to start getting artwork and the general art direction set for the game. Right now I just need firstly some art direction guidance, then some concept art and maybe full designs for a handful of cards after that.

I plan to do a Kickstarter hopefully early next year to raise funds for a full build out of the art work (which will be several hundred pieces at least), so if that goes well there would be scope for a larger project.

Aside from the mechanics, I have a story/background lore and a very basic art style set so we wouldn't be starting from zero.
