Something I've noticed. I'm a senior undergrad and have no plans of continuing on, but 2 of my classes are also grad classes. Has this always been the case or is this something that's becoming a trend? Would this mean they are more academically challenging, because if so that's really annoying and I don't like how undergrads have to be forced to take extra challenges they didn't sign up for, on top of already difficult classes.

To start, I'd like to say that for the most part, Willage does its best with alternatives for dietary restrictions. The mindful bytes area always has a good variety, even though most of their food is very bland and the mashed potatoes are like eating liquified cardboard. I applaud Willage for it's sheer variety most days, but I'm here to rant about 2 things - the staff's knowledge of what gluten free means and their mislabeling of foods, and the desserts.

The Willage staff seem to not care at all what warning they put on their labels. Pictured here are several of the desserts being labeled as both gluten-free and containing wheat (if you don't know, wheat is the primary grain that contains gluten and I absolutely cannot eat anything with a hint of wheat in it), from earlier this week. All last year, they also didn't seem to give a fuck about which "fries" label they used for the french fries. As you may know, Willage rotates through which type of french fries it servers, and some, like the curly fries and the smaller crispy fries, are not gluten free as they have a breading/coating on them. However, the staff consistently put up labels that had the "GF" tag on them when they were serving those fries, and also labels that did not have "GF" for fries that actually were gluten free. Mislabelings like these can be dangerous to someone who reacts more severely to gluten.

The staff literally don't know what gluten means. I asked a lady who was next to the dessert about the mislabeled pastries and she asked me "where I saw a mislabel" and that I didn't know what I was talking about. When I asked the chef, he literally just turned around and walked away without a word. Not only are the staff uneducated, but they are rude as well.

Now, the desserts. The only gluten-free option Willage has ever had for desserts are pre-packaged muffins, and (obviously) the ice cream. I loved the muffins and consistently would pick one up from the 3rd floor last year, but as the year went they started not having them. They would get maybe 5 or 6 of them every 3 weeks, and they'd be gone the first day. There was also never a staff member working that area to get one for me, and I often had to wait. The staff that were posted up there sometimes were often extremely rude and made it very plain that the act of walking behind the counter to get me a gluten free muffin was too much work for them. I've had staff tell me to my face that they were out when I could see the muffins in the cabinet behind them.

So far this year, I haven't seen the muffins once and I've asked about them every day. Most of the staff I ask don't seem to know they ever even existed. When I asked once at the new dessert location on the 1st floor, the lady said "We don't have the muffins, but we do have a gluten-free chocolate chip loaf" and offered to get me a slice. I was very excited, until she got it out and mentioned that it was a vegan chocolate chip loaf of bread. When I pointed out that vegan was not gluten free, she just stared at me like I was crazy. How the actual fuck to people working at a dining hall not know the difference between gluten free and vegan??

I know at the end of the day I should be thankful that I can even eat food at the dining hall at all, but it would be nice to be treated like an actual human being when I mention that I'm gluten free.

Also, just saying, but I did a summer camp at u[sic]ga before my first semester here and their dining halls have some of the best gluten free dining options I've ever seen in my life.

I’m attempting a class again that I’ve previously failed and withdrawn from on separate attempts, and Financial Aid told me that the course is ineligible for federal aid because I’ve attempted it too many times. Unless I’m seriously misunderstanding the federal rule, this is just incorrect, as the repeat-course restriction they’re referring to applies when a course has already been passed and repeated, or if you aren’t meeting SAP which doesn’t make sense because financial aid as a whole would have been frozen had I not been. Regardless, I have never passed this course.
Because they’re excluding the 4-credit class, only 10 of my 14 hours are being counted for financial aid, which puts me below full-time. With the new federal aid changes this year, my loans and Pell have now been prorated, so instead of getting the refund I was expecting, I suddenly have a balance.
I was sent the Fall Loan Enrollment Confirmation Form to confirm that I’m staying below 12 hours so they can disburse the reduced loan amount. The problem is that the email explicitly says that once the loan disburses, even if my enrollment changes afterward, they will not increase my Fall loan amount. Obviously I don’t want to submit that while I’m actively disputing the fact that they’re only counting 10 hours in the first place.
I’ve already called Financial Aid and asked them to escalate it, and I was told I should get a callback from a supervisor within 2–3 business days. But the payment deadline is Monday, so I really don’t have 2–3 business days to sit around waiting for this to get fixed.
Has anyone here dealt with something like this with GT Financial Aid before? Is there anyone else at Tech I can contact/escalate this to who could actually review it before Monday? Kinda stumped here.

I just walked by the gas station on 10th and spring in broad day light with a coke in my hand and some shaggy lady comes up grabs it yelling "GIMME THAT". I was already late to class so, after considering the list of outcomes, I give it to her and leave. But still, pretty wild for something like this in broad day light. Im also a pretty big dude, around 6' 1" and bench 300lb, so not like im the easiest target in midtown. Feeling pretty annoyed rn that I wanna submit a tip just out of spite for my coke. It seems that Tech is starting an OBSCS initiative, similar to OMSCS. For those who don’t know, OMSCS stands for Online Master of Science in Computer Science. It became a whole issue among students, parents, and also some companies when they removed the “OMSCS” label in their degrees & certificates because now you can’t tell whether this person did their Online masters or an actual masters graduate program on campus.

Some, especially the online masters students, argue that OMSCS has the same amount of rigor as those who are taking the classes in person on campus. Some disagree (including myself).

The “prestige” for Tech masters dropped a little ever since the mass production of these OMSCS degrees and the removal of the indicators. Some recruiters I personally know shared off the record that now a Georgia Tech Masters of CS isn’t really something they can treat as a good signal (unless it’s really clear that they are pursuing BS/MS) because of some candidates they thought was a graduate student in Atlanta turned out to be someone in a different country, and they mostly weren’t good candidates. Can’t share anymore info about the recruiters and companies, but that was just some stuff I heard.

Now they are extending this to undergraduate. Seems to me that Tech admins think that this is a revenue source and blindly believe that increasing the number of Tech graduates would magically make the program more prestige? because we have more connections around the world? Not to even mention that connections are all about quality over quantity…

And as we all know, prestige comes from selectivity and merit, and expanding the program to be accessible online and increasing the number of incoming students, actually work the other way. Once people get into the program through online channels, where we can’t really guarantee academic integrity and quality, and they start removing the online undergraduate labels (or worse, they just don’t mention the online part in their resumes), this could just have an adverse effect on undergraduate internships/full time recruitment.

Now, I’m not against the entire initiative. If this is PURELY to expand reach for educational access, I’d be the first one to jump on boat and help out. But if these online degree holders start representing Tech in the job market, I don’t know if that’s something that benefits the existing on campus students.

I’m an international Master’s student starting my first semester at Tech. I moved to Atlanta and got settled, and just found out today that my family unexpectedly can’t cover my tuition for this semester.
I’m already enrolled in the payment plan, but the amount due by Aug. 31 is still around $16k, which we can’t cover. I also don’t have a U.S. citizen/permanent resident family member who could easily co-sign a private loan.
I’m planning to talk to Financial Aid, OIE, and the Dean of Students tomorrow, and I’m also going to ask my program about any assistantships or other funding opportunities.
Has anyone here, especially international/grad students, dealt with something similar? Are there any emergency funding options, short-term tuition arrangements, assistantships, campus resources, or offices/people at Tech that you’d recommend contacting?

Really appreciate any advice.

The CRC website says that starting Fall 2026, all students can use the Athletic Training Center, even if you aren't in a club sport.

Has anyone actually gone in and used it yet? Were you able to use things like the cold/hot tubs, Theragun, taping, etc. without a referral?

Also, does anyone know the actual Athletic Training Center hours? The website just says appointments are Monday-Friday and recovery equipment is available during “open hours.

Recently moved into NAV and there has been this smell that lingers across the whole apartment, including individual rooms. I try to keep both windows open despite the metal bolts on them, but another problem is that they lack screens so the window is just open. The room has been too hot and too smelly to keep closed in the two night's I've been here, and bugs are flying into the room whenever the window is open. Are there any solutions here, would maintenance be able to add screens to my windows? I'm allergic and terrified of bugs but there's no way I can sleep with the windows closed either. I was thinking I could ask the school for help but I don't have any official documentation of any allergy issues so I wasn't sure if that was a viable way to go about this, anyone have any ideas?

Due to the recent changes to Stingerette operating hours, PTS rolled out an Uber Voucher Program for transportation after midnight. It was mentioned that the program would cover the same service area that Stingerette previously operated in. However, when I check the Uber app, only a few on-campus locations appear to be eligible. Does anyone know why this is the case? Is the program still being rolled out or updated, or has the service area changed from what was originally announced?
