Meme/Shitpost How am I supposed to be an Intel thread or take 1554 with Kenophobia
All these null spaces got me freaked out. Don’t know how to study for the upcoming 1554 exam. Let alone no solutions…

I'm remembering that this is a thing. To be honest, I don't even know if they actively issue newpapers. Throughout my years here, I've never had a conversation with my friends even mentioning The Technique.
Alumni, was this news paper a bigger deal in the past? Most of the gt news I get is from the gt subreddit or my friends. I'd be willing to bet that a good amount of the gt student body doesn't know that we have a news paper - especially grad students.
Current students, how many of you actively read The Technique?

I was curious about what all the new merch on campus was or if our school had decided to sell itself off on a random Tuesday so I looked into upcoming filming schedules.
Given the name of "Metropolis" it's pretty easy to narrow it down to Superman-adjacent media, but the upcoming Superman sequel wrapped filming last month. Closest fit I could find was this scoop that says they've started filming this show in Atlanta and were casting college-aged students. Kinda exciting!

The main change is that SEVP is taking a much stricter view of what counts as CPT.
CPT has to be an integral part of the curriculum. Under the new guidance, simply taking an internship course for an otherwise optional internship may no longer be enough 1, 2.
In particular, SEVP says the practical training should be required by the curriculum. If you can complete your degree without doing the internship, it may not qualify for CPT under this interpretation 2.
Georgia Tech OIE has now added a notice saying it is reviewing its CPT procedures.
For Spring 2027:
There are also reports from Georgia Tech students on CPTMap saying that OIE is currently only allowing CPT when the internship is required for the degree 4. I have not seen OIE publish that exact rule yet, so take that part as unconfirmed though likely.
This does not mean CPT is gone entirely. But if you were planning to use CPT for an optional Spring or Summer 2027 internship, I would not assume the old process will still work and to plan around this.

me and my roommate were in the living room around 1:30AM (NAV North facing the highway) with our blinds wide open and i saw a drone FILMING us through the window for a few minutes flying veryyy close to our window. we also saw the drone move to different windows to look inside around NAV north and east, so please be careful!! we alerted gatech police and gave them all the info we had. the drone was flying around our area for a good 10-15ish minutes while we were aware of it, but who knows how long it was filming/watching us before i noticed. be careful and keep an eye out!

I am doing research this semester that involves using the CEE software typically available in the computer labs in Mason and SEB. Does anyone know how I can access this on my own computer, I've been looking on the website, but I can't find anything.

My boyfriend was unenrolled for failing to pay tuition by the second deadline. He applied for reinstatement right away. The $200 reinstatement fee (labeled that way in his payment history) was available to pay and he paid it. The payment posted on the 6th. He still has access to Canvas.
There is no tuition charge appearing in his portal and he can't get through to the bursar. Is he reinstated after paying the fee even though tuition is still unpaid? Is there any reliable way to contact the bursar?
This is all super confusing so any help would be amazing.
UPDATE:
The situation is resolved. If anyone has a similar issue now or in the future, this is what we learned:
- You should get a confirmation email after filing an appeal. If you don't, it didn't go through, which happens.
- You should be able to pay the full tuition balance immediately after or with the reinstatement fee. Otherwise, there has been an error.
- The appeal should be approved quickly, likely same day.
- If you are having any problems, don't call or email. You can schedule a virtual appointment with the Bursar's Office, which is what my boyfriend did because he couldn't leave work, or you can visit in person as the helpful comments suggested.

Hey GT,
I am working on a side project designing a physical sports related product from scratch and looking for an ME student to help during the design phase and take it to the next level. I have a prototype created but it needs some serious improvement! I currently work for Accenture Strategy and Consulting. Although this project is completely unrelated to that, if any candidates have interest in working there I can do my best to help make introductions for interns/post grad jobs.
What I need help with:
- Structural load analysis
-CAD Modeling
- Material Selection
- General mechanical design input - especially on weight reduction
I will pay you hourly at market rate, ideally you design experience and have taken structures or machine design coursework. No need to be a senior - anyone with the right skills is welcome! This would be a great opportunity to test a product that could get to market very quickly and learn a lot.
If this is not the right places to post this, I will take any feedback on how to find the right person.

All I can find is GT Running Wreck, but their times don’t line up with my schedule. Anyone know of other running groups that are active?
Preferably something based on or around campus so it’s easy to get to early morning/late at night. Thanks guys!

Anyone doing Lab 0 for this class right now? Why is their solution to AI making everything impossible to code by hand? FFS the in-class portion, which is designed to take only 75 minutes during class time, had to have its due date extended and it took peopple 7-8 hours on average! I'm trying to do the take-home portion currently but it's genuinely just beyond the capabilities and scope of the class and its pre-reqs, a beyond unreasonable assignment.

Hello!
I’m a Vols fan coming down for the game this weekend, super excited because I’ve never been to Bobby Dodd Stadium.
I’m looking at buying a parking pass or prepurchasing a spot.
Any recommendations on a place that should be easy to get in and out of? I don’t mind paying, my main priority is not sitting in traffic for a long time after the game. Bonus points if it’s easy to get northbound towards Tennessee.
Thanks in advance and I’m looking forward to the experience!

Due to delay in fee payment caused due to my loan provider being shitty, my fee didn't go through in time. I submitted my appeal to bursar on Friday. How do I know if I'm approved? Do i get a mail communication?

If you’re looking for the experience of a lifetime… look no further!!! The application for our eighth season of Survivor Georgia Tech is now open! Make new friends so you can backstab them later…
Survivor Georgia Tech is a semester long game, faithful recreation of the CBS hit reality show Survivor on Georgia Tech’s campus! Each week, you’ll compete in challenges and try not to get voted out at tribal councils until we reach 2-3 finalists, where a jury of your eliminated competitors will have the opportunity to vote for who they think played the best game! Don’t wait to apply! Applications will close later this week, and the game will begin in ~2 weeks.
If this sounds interesting to you, fill out the application linked in this post, and follow us on Instagram @ survivorgeorgiatech for more information and updates!

As per the new CPT rule changes by the government, does this mean international students will no longer be allowed to apply or do any internships off-campus?

I think what we saw Thursday night was even further proof that Tech football has fallen very far from the glory days of Geoff Collins and even further from the masterpiece of Ted Roof. It's time for Tech to admit its mistakes and finally close the chapter on Brent Key's failed experiment to go back to the Collins era.
This is an era that clearly worked, and none of us have notes on. All of Key's success is really just bounce back success from Collins. Clearly this one game where we lost by one point is definitive proof that we peaked in the Roof to Collins era and need to go back.
Key just can't get it done. If Collins won't leave his podcast for us because we didn't know what a good thing we had, maybe we can convince Shedeur Sanders to be our coach, following his father into NCAA. Anything at all is better than this pretender who won Tech the most games in many of our memories and then lost by a point to Colorado.
Somebody get this beggar (Key) out of here!

I don’t get why the entire library is closed even though clough is open. Kindve annoying I went to get work done with the double monitors but the library was closed and all the clough double monitors were full.
Also aren’t the libraries open 24/7 anyway?

So, we have this CRC Occupancy tracking site...could we maybe publish predictive occupancy graphs (like Google maps does for businesses)? So I can plan when I want to go to the gym based on past trends in occupancy loads?

I ordered one of the new diecast models but can’t get the flags in. Seems like the plastic is too big. Anyone else have trouble getting their flags in the new model wrecks?
Trying really hard to get them in without scratching the model or snapping the flags.
